Hi

Just wanted to ask how I can 'unpack' a common.lvl file. I just wanted to take some off the .tga crosshairs out : )

It would be much easier to re-pack it with what you want in it.  Please refer to the mod tools tutorials

download this

http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.com/file/LVL_Extractor;32428

unzip the file

make a bat file the points to the directory that extract.exe is located in

it should have this in it:

cmd -c cd <put your directory here>

an example directory would be C:\Users\Username\Desktop\extract

then save the bat

put the common.lvl file in the folder

open the bat and type "extract common.lvl" (no quotes)

it will spit out the textures in the form of dds files. Done!

I just found this out today

EDIT: it also spits out lua file as lub files... I'm not sure how to view these, they have a bunch of NULL symbols when i open them with notepad++. maybe a hex editor would work.

The extractor is nice to get the tgas, but it won't remove them from common.lvl.
