Well, I've decided in the busiest point in my life to also become a YouTuber. Kinda cringe but sometimes you just have to embrace virginity full send. Right now I'm just editing together old clips of me and my dad playing various games like R6S and Far Cry but soon I'll be recording new content on other games, one of which will be SWBF1. Not sure exactly how this is going to go down yet but it should be a fun time to revisit, especially since my dad played back in the day too.

My dad and I are the only people in my family who still game and my friends are all over the world in different timezones so they can rarely play. If you're interested in being part of my little "crew" and want to appear in my videos let me know. It's really a great time to start making gaming videos in an extremely saturated category.

Since most of you have known me at my cringiest I now present to you my next phase of cringe: Octaking https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLb7AOmrM2C4VnpsBjpJ5rQ

I'll post again when my SWBF video is released but I haven't even fully planned it so it might be a while since I'm simultaneously learning to edit videos, be at least mildly entertaining, and to fly helicopters (no joke). All 9 of my subscribers are on the edges of their seat for sure. For real though if you vibe with my low quality content then any support would be appreciated. Eventually the videos will get better however I can't edit my personality so I'm afraid that ship has sailed. I'd really like to get to the point I can bring some attention back to the best game I ever played.

General / Search by user
February 21, 2022, 10:01:17 AM
I seem to remember being able to search the downloads page by user but now it seems to need some text to search as well. I'm just trying to see all uploads by a certain user though. Is this possible? Can't seem to figure it out.

Hey guys I made this post in case some old AaTc members find this site. We have a discord for AaTc Veterans now and while we aren't an active clan we do use the discord to stay in touch and organize clan events every now and then. Activity is not mandatory but I really hope some more old members will find this message somehow and come say hey. We also have several non-clan members in the discord that are old friends of the clan so anyone is welcome. We get together on SWBF every once in a while and play mod maps/pub servers as well as other games. It's fun to catch up, hang out, and share old memories. I also recently made a SWBF1 Map (somehow I've remembered how to mod after all these years) that is specifically for AaTc. If you don't know, SWBF1 is available on Steam for $10 and has multiplayer again. We don't play hardly at all but its fun to get on for a group event. I hope you guys see this and contact me somehow.

To add me on steam:

Friend code: 273740076

username: aatcsnake

To add on discord:

username: OctaKing#8990

clan invite: https://discord.gg/5CxM7sHH

I hope you guys can find me. AaTc forever.

Released Maps and Mods / =AaTc= SLICE Base 1.8
June 11, 2021, 04:47:42 PM
I finally fulfilled my long time dream of making AaTc a clan map. I originally just let the SWBF Museum represent my clan as well as all clans but with the assets of the Museum I decided to make AaTc it's own map. Is this 10 years too late? Yes. Was it mildly cathartic for me anyway? Yes. Hopefully those clan members who are still around in our discord will get together on it one last time. Still, I figured I would release it for others to experience. It's a fun monument to all clans really. It also exhibits a concept I never put into existence: turning a regular map into a zombie map mid-game at will. You can release a zombie horde at anytime to turn it into a zombie apocalypse. It's a lot of fun on single and multiplayer.

Things to do:
-Visit Maxfly Temple for screenshots, records, etc.
-Visit Cyclone's Cantina for a cold drink, clan pics, roughhousing with AI, abusing the robot bartenders, etc.
-Race through the Valley of the Mandalore's (A title in AaTc for exceptional leaders of the clan)
-Bomb n00bs (from the SWBF Museum) who may try to interrupt your races through the canyon.
-Find easter eggs (possibly some under the map as well as elsewhere)

AaTc Forever. RIP.

I'll try to get a SWBFGamers link but it was too big.

Are there any common causes of a map crashing in multiplayer but not singleplayer? I don't have any objects that would immediately make me think it could crash in multiplayer but after running the map fine in singleplayer I'll start a server and it'll crash upon loading. Is it just because it's steam? Maybe .lua issue?

SWBF1 Modding / Objects under the map
June 04, 2021, 04:01:58 PM
So I have put objects under the map many times but I think I remember always raising the terrain first.. Is it problematic if objects are too low? if water is too low?

I have the problem of crashing but only when you look down... that doesn't seem like the response to objects or water being too low but it's literally the only thing I can think of. I can't think of anything that would crash upon being looked in the direction of.

Also since SPTest is working now (thank you Dark Phantom) I thought it would help but I can't see anything other than random inconsequential errors. Anyway, any help is appreciated.

--Edit

I took every single object from below the map to above it and it still crashes when you look down or up in a certain area. I don't get it.

Released Maps and Mods / Hyperion 3: Zombie Canyon
June 02, 2021, 07:44:02 PM
Well, I found the video of my old hyperion test map called "Zombie Canyon" which I posted about in the SWBF1 category. Initially I wasn't really interested in recreating it but then I happened to find the source files in my mediafire account. I had no idea I uploaded it. I decided to download it, make it into a working map, and add a few easter eggs. It turns out that it's a lot of fun!

It's not as easy as it seems because the blob zombies from Defiance at Janus will now suicide bomb vehicles as will some other types of zombies. This means you can't just push through a crowd of them in the limo you actually have to fire effectively. I included a little area with some clan posters and a goodbye to SWBF. If you find it feel free to let me know here.

It's a pretty simple map but I hope if there's one or two people who try it enjoy it. I think it would be a lot of fun to get a few people to play together and run in a convoy.

Anyway, I present to you happy few,

Hyperion 3: Zombie Canyon

Hello everyone! I have recently got back into SWBF some since it is on steam now. I decided to try to host a client side "dedicated" server of SWBF1 Museum. I hope you guys can drop by and experience the nostalgia in the old museum.

This will be the 2.0 version found here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/wau57xyxbhkqa2y/SWBF1_Museum_2.0.rar/file

I will probably be AFK but I'll try to host as often as possible since it doesn't work on dedicated software for whatever reason.

If this is the first time you have heard of the Museum here is the release thread: http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=9122.msg96284#msg96284

This is a video I took of the map that eventually became Hyperion: Ancient Excavations. You can see a lot of similarities of it. I mostly used it as a zombie test map but now I wish I had kept the file because it was a lot of fun driving in convoys mowing down zombies.

I found this in the deepest darkest corners of my old files as I was going down memory lane. I added a few things to it and got it mostly stable then decided to release it since I have no use for it anymore. It also is very interesting to look at and there probably is no other map quite like it. There isn't much to do but experiment with my insane vehicles and a few reused units. I figured I might as well release it to those few who still play this game.

SWBF1 Modding / SPTest Request
May 31, 2021, 11:34:51 AM
So I've been searching around trying to figure out how to get SPTest to work but I can't figure it out. Instead I was wondering if someone who has it working would be willing to test out one of my old maps and see why it crashes.

If you can I would appreciate it.

SWBF1 Modding / Zeroeditor crashing when loading maps
January 31, 2021, 05:58:47 PM
Well, I was able to load shipped worlds so I decided to try and download the SWBF1 Museum assets and load that world. ZE loads about halfway then crashes. I can't remember but is there an SPTest type crash log for ZE? I found an old post by Phobos saying an incorrectly hex edited msh will crash ZE but 1. I don't have any idea what msh could be messed up and 2. I don't remember how to hex edit. Any ideas what could be causing it/courses of action to take? I thought about taking all non-stock meshes out one by one and seeing if that would work but I can't remember if loading a world with a missing msh would make it crash as well.

So with the discovery that SWBF is on steam me and some of my old friends decided to get on and play a little bit. Well, naturally I thought about modding. I managed to download the ultimate mod tools but when I try to load a stock world into zeroeditor to refresh my memory on how things work it gives me the error: "zeroeditor can only load worlds that are located in a subdirectory of the editor" even when I put the world file literally next to it. Not sure if it's an issue with the steam set up or using "Snake's Ultimate Mod Tools" but if anyone knows how to fix that please let me know.  :)

--Edit

I found a workaround by placing the shipped world assets in a custom world folder and then loading the shipped .wld file.

Scummies / Basic Training/AIT
March 18, 2016, 07:01:22 AM
Well, I'm finally heading out to basic and AIT after getting a really late ship date and having to wait for so long. I'll go straight from basic, which is 10 weeks, to AIT, which is 21 weeks. So I'll be gone for like... 7 months. So, keep me in your prayers. I leave Tuesday but I likely won't be back on the site before then because I have a lot of preparation and parties that will soak up my time until I leave. I'll be back!

We're having a little SWBF clan night tonight and so I figured I would extend the invitation to anyone who would like to play a few rounds of some fun maps. We will be playing:

SWBF Museum
Umbara: Shadow Forest
Hyperion 2: Tunnels of Death
Tantive IV

So get the maps and come join us for a night of nostalgic fun! It will start at 6 PM CST on the server called SWBFGamers.com.

Other Games / Dying Light on PS4

Does anyone play DL? If you don't have it I highly suggest it: http://dyinglightgame.com/

It's basically Farcry with zombies and it's the most perfect combination I didn't know I wanted. It's definitely in my top 10 for favorite games of all time. If anyone has it and would like to do some co op just add me! My PSN ID is Octa-king with a capital O.

I know thanksgiving is a long way away but it'll be here before you know it so I'm giving everyone enough time to see this. AaTc is having a party for Thanksgiving and everyone is invited. We will be playing Hyperion: Ancient Excavations (http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=6357.msg67194#msg67194), Earth: Desert Town (http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=5193.msg49961#msg49961), and the ELITE Clan Training map (http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=8380.msg90821#msg90821), as well as some stock maps.

So, set a reminder in your phone or on your calender for Friday November 27th Starting @ 7 PM CST. If you need to be a little late, that's fine. EABF will be out by then but let's have one more fun holiday on our favorite game.

Alright, we had our first clan night which was really fun but now we have started monthly clan nights at the end of every month. Our first one was in May but we will go ahead and have another one for May.

Some people can't make it on Saturday and some can't make it on Friday, so there will be two clan nights on the same weekend. There will be one at 5 PM CST Friday, May 29th and one at 5 PM CST Saturday, May 30th. This is of course open to the public and I hope everyone can join! The tentative map list is: SWBF1 Museum, Miranda: Imperial Facility, Tatooine: Mos Eisley, and Rhen Var: Harbor.

I hope everyone can make it to one or both of the clan nights, it should be lots of fun!
