Released Maps and Mods / =AaTc= SLICE Base 1.8
June 11, 2021, 04:47:42 PM
I finally fulfilled my long time dream of making AaTc a clan map. I originally just let the SWBF Museum represent my clan as well as all clans but with the assets of the Museum I decided to make AaTc it's own map. Is this 10 years too late? Yes. Was it mildly cathartic for me anyway? Yes. Hopefully those clan members who are still around in our discord will get together on it one last time. Still, I figured I would release it for others to experience. It's a fun monument to all clans really. It also exhibits a concept I never put into existence: turning a regular map into a zombie map mid-game at will. You can release a zombie horde at anytime to turn it into a zombie apocalypse. It's a lot of fun on single and multiplayer.

Things to do:
-Visit Maxfly Temple for screenshots, records, etc.
-Visit Cyclone's Cantina for a cold drink, clan pics, roughhousing with AI, abusing the robot bartenders, etc.
-Race through the Valley of the Mandalore's (A title in AaTc for exceptional leaders of the clan)
-Bomb n00bs (from the SWBF Museum) who may try to interrupt your races through the canyon.
-Find easter eggs (possibly some under the map as well as elsewhere)

AaTc Forever. RIP.

I'll try to get a SWBFGamers link but it was too big.

Just me as soon as it loads in. It's very similar to SWBF Museum but that works on multiplayer.

Could it be too many vehicles? I probably have 20-30 on the map. Some placed and some spawned.
I do have the memory pool set for it but maybe multiplayer artificially lowers it?

I thought it was my "placed in ZE" units but after removing those it still crashes.

----------

Ok so I removed the placed units as well as placed vehicles (except for some kaadus) and that solved the crashing. I suspect it was Sereja's Barge that I set as a type: "huge" for planning purposes but I got an sptest error for that. I haven't investigated that further. I also put my placed units back in the map after it started working again to see if that did it and it did indeed crash the map.

Are there any common causes of a map crashing in multiplayer but not singleplayer? I don't have any objects that would immediately make me think it could crash in multiplayer but after running the map fine in singleplayer I'll start a server and it'll crash upon loading. Is it just because it's steam? Maybe .lua issue?

Interesting. I'll have to remember that for next time. To solve this issue I just started from scratch with a new map.  ::)

SWBF1 Modding / Objects under the map
June 04, 2021, 04:01:58 PM
So I have put objects under the map many times but I think I remember always raising the terrain first.. Is it problematic if objects are too low? if water is too low?

I have the problem of crashing but only when you look down... that doesn't seem like the response to objects or water being too low but it's literally the only thing I can think of. I can't think of anything that would crash upon being looked in the direction of.

Also since SPTest is working now (thank you Dark Phantom) I thought it would help but I can't see anything other than random inconsequential errors. Anyway, any help is appreciated.

--Edit

I took every single object from below the map to above it and it still crashes when you look down or up in a certain area. I don't get it.

Released Maps and Mods / Hyperion 3: Zombie Canyon
June 02, 2021, 07:44:02 PM
Well, I found the video of my old hyperion test map called "Zombie Canyon" which I posted about in the SWBF1 category. Initially I wasn't really interested in recreating it but then I happened to find the source files in my mediafire account. I had no idea I uploaded it. I decided to download it, make it into a working map, and add a few easter eggs. It turns out that it's a lot of fun!

It's not as easy as it seems because the blob zombies from Defiance at Janus will now suicide bomb vehicles as will some other types of zombies. This means you can't just push through a crowd of them in the limo you actually have to fire effectively. I included a little area with some clan posters and a goodbye to SWBF. If you find it feel free to let me know here.

It's a pretty simple map but I hope if there's one or two people who try it enjoy it. I think it would be a lot of fun to get a few people to play together and run in a convoy.

Anyway, I present to you happy few,

SWBF1 Modding / Re: SPTest Request

Hmm.. I got further than before when I tried this but still won't start. The administrator window comes up then I click ok and nothing happens. I tried it in Win 10 as well as compatibility settings for XP.

Hello everyone! I have recently got back into SWBF some since it is on steam now. I decided to try to host a client side "dedicated" server of SWBF1 Museum. I hope you guys can drop by and experience the nostalgia in the old museum.

This will be the 2.0 version found here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/wau57xyxbhkqa2y/SWBF1_Museum_2.0.rar/file

I will probably be AFK but I'll try to host as often as possible since it doesn't work on dedicated software for whatever reason.

If this is the first time you have heard of the Museum here is the release thread: http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=9122.msg96284#msg96284

Hey Remnant good to see you! Yeah it is a lot of fun. I may try to remake it at some point if some people would like to try it out.

This is a video I took of the map that eventually became Hyperion: Ancient Excavations. You can see a lot of similarities of it. I mostly used it as a zombie test map but now I wish I had kept the file because it was a lot of fun driving in convoys mowing down zombies.

I found this in the deepest darkest corners of my old files as I was going down memory lane. I added a few things to it and got it mostly stable then decided to release it since I have no use for it anymore. It also is very interesting to look at and there probably is no other map quite like it. There isn't much to do but experiment with my insane vehicles and a few reused units. I figured I might as well release it to those few who still play this game.

SWBF1 Modding / SPTest Request
May 31, 2021, 11:34:51 AM
So I've been searching around trying to figure out how to get SPTest to work but I can't figure it out. Instead I was wondering if someone who has it working would be willing to test out one of my old maps and see why it crashes.

If you can I would appreciate it.

Thank you for fixing it and allowing me to experience how bad I was at modding lmao
