If you edit the original topic, then people won't see the new one, and most likely will by pass it not knowing that it is there.

If you want people to have an update, its best just to make a new topic so people can see the update right away.

what about of the update topic dies, someone is new to the site, wants to download it, doesnt see this topic, and the post advirtising this in the orriginal topic get buried in pages of comments that most people dont want to read. O.o
