Why are their differences between the games (SWBFI PC/mac and Xbox/ps2)? SWBFII seems the same on PS2 and PC...

So you come in and ask why there are differences, while neglecting to say what those differences are?

Well this vid shows most of the SWBFI stuff. You can just skip the SWBFII comparison. If you have SWBFI on PS2 or Xbox sk I would try it and see how the different classes are different. And my other question, if SWBFI Xbox version can have addon maps, theoretically does that mean the PS2 version can have addon maps?

In some way PS2 version of SWBF1 cud be more superior.
1. Stock flyers has much more health.
2. Stock Endor map, look's much more colorful.
3. Pilots, can rapair vehicles, on secondary positions, and turrets, when drive.

Issues: vehicles has no 1st person view.
Beauty is, the way to perfection.

Glory to Ukraine!  :mf:

PS2 won't get addon maps.

First, the ps2 would need a hard drive, then it would need the patch to enable addon maps.
That would be a double hitter hack.

As I have said before I own it on the PS2 and I can't see any differences in the classes. You sure you are not going mental?

Well I can never be sure about that...

Well I do NOT have the patch so maybe that's it.
Oh wow. I just realized I didn't link the video.  :slap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4fwY1cj_6s&sns=em

Ok now watch the first part of that, just the part about SWBFI. Another thing he doesn't mention is that the rockets seem to lock on to vehicles at extreme distances and the wookiee's time bomb has a 10 second count down.

Personally I like the PS2 version of the game more than the PC. The AI seem different to me, smarter in a way, but no auto aim for the head type of deal. And like Sereja said, the endor map looks really nice. :) It's weird, SWBFI graphics look better to me than the SWBFII graphics for the same exact maps! ( like endor, mos, yavin... )
But no first person and addon maps. :,(

So now do you see the differences SK?

The PS2 version is visually inferior to the xbox version. I don't think they were even shadows in the PS2 version.
When xbox live was alive, the PS2 version was limited to 4 player lobbys unless someone hosted a dedicated server.

Gameplay wise I think the AI is identical. Then again I rarely played with the AI so I can't back that up well.

The Mac and PC comparison differences are notable. First off is the superior framerate. If I were to run both games at max settings at the same resolution with the same hardware, the PC version would run far better.
The bloom and water effects also look better PC side. Specular mapping is also there so items look a lot shiner. The shadows are also a lot darker on the PC version. The Mac version skimped out on a lot of the effects.

And another huge omission on the Mac version is any form of anti aliasing. AA makes SWBF look drastically better with its limited resolutions and it's nonexistent in the Mac versions.

So there you have it. The Mac version of the game is rather stable yet it has performance issues being a PowerPC game and the graphics were seriously downgraded to maintain the framerate for the limited processing power during 2004.

What's odd is that the minimal settings look better on the Mac than they do on the PC I don't know if there's a technical reason, or if it's just the PC I use.

Mostly likely it's a technical reason. They must've made the graphics scale down even more in the PC version than the Mac version, but I can't say for sure since I've always played the game on max settings.

Also back in the day, Mac clans were amazing. Also players observed unwritten rules such as "no capturing".

Yes I well know the technical stuff about the Mac VS PC stuff.  ;)

The bots do have autoaim on ps2.... They are way harder then the ones on the PC.

That could be to balance out the fact that the players do to. :)
I play less now but I'll always be around, lets keep this site and battlefront going. :)

Okay, here's my thoughts on this, on the differences that I found in the PS2 version:

Pros
More health for flying vehicles.
Endor appears to be better saturated.
Pilots can repair a vehicle in any seat.
Naboo:Plains: Flyer added for Rebels/Republic.
Turntable unit selection - this might mean the PS2 version could possibly have the capacity to take 6 units better than the PC version can.

Cons:
No first person view mode for vehicles.
No Addon map capacity.
No team-switching.

Misc:
Jedi deflect all projectiles on PS2 version.

I'm certain there are other minor differences, but as I no longer own the PS2 version I cannot compare for myself, these are just the ones I remember.
