Hey SWBF Gamers,

I've been considering using an Opteron Hexa-Core 2.60GHz processor[/url] for my gaming setup and was wondering how well it might handle Star Wars Battlefront and similar games. Since Opteron CPUs are typically server-grade, I'm curious if their multi-threaded capabilities offer any performance advantages in multiplayer matches, modding, or hosting dedicated servers.

Has anyone tested SWBF on an Opteron CPU? Would the server-class efficiency help with smoother gameplay, or would a more consumer-focused gaming CPU be better? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences!

Let's discuss—any insights would be appreciated!

You're not gonna get any performance boost from anything like that.  BF runs on a single thread and you're not gaining any advantages over any other setup.

Probably fine using it, but any oddities you find could probably be mitigated by using a consumer level CPU.  Server CPUs can be fine but are usually tailored towards... server-level jobs.

Being that SWBF is single-threaded (as Dark_Phantom said) and server CPUs generally run at lower clock speeds, you may actually see worse performance than a regular CPU with a higher clock speed.

That being said, it's old enough of a game that it probably really won't matter and you likely wouldn't notice much of any difference either way.
