Released Maps and Mods / SWBF Museum 2.5
December 17, 2025, 03:26:03 PM
My Christmas gift to the SWBF Community is the SWBF Museum 2.5. I have spent many hours adding things and completely changing the map layout to make it more ergonomic and common sensical. Below is the map:

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fix the small things I wanted to improve such as locolization and the minimap issues but I have added tons of screenshots, posters, and user images to increase your nostalgia effect.

You can watch gladiators fight with Noobs!

Speaking of Noobs I have added two new types. Probe droids and Noob commanders!

I added over 200 screenshots and posters. I even added photos from the E3 announcement and interviews with Pandemic members. I added alpha build screenshots as well as original drafts of map layouts. I also added photos of meaningful things like xfire. I used the Wayback Machine to get lots of old clan photos/banners as well. These are mostly represented in the Cantina which is a new building added.

I also added a destructible barrier in the Archives hallway that releases a zombie plague upon the map.

I was interrupted by a deployment coming up so I will have to finish it when I return hopefully. Until then, I hope you all enjoy.

On the Hyperion zombie maps I made there were usually like 150 units on the map at any given time so it's at least north of that.

Good evening fellow battlefrontians,

I have returned from the dead on one of my occasional nostalgia trips and somehow have managed to download, get to work, and remember how to use the SWBF mod tools. I have decided to update the SWBF Museum. It was my crowning achievement that I feel did not live up to what it could have been--even with my limited modding ability. Unfortunately, I was never very good at being organized so I'm trying to piece together what I was able to accomplish vs what needs to be done. I will go back through this thread to make sure all the pictures requested are in the museum and things like that.

I've also added some features like actual gladiators for the empty gladiator arena:

If there's anything you want me to add to the museum please let me know. Some custom models for the museum would be great if anyone is up for that. I would also like to reskin all the yavin assets used so if someone would like to add some pizazz to the stock .tga's and send them to me that would be awesome as well. Still old and stone but something different than the base yavin textures.

I also need to add the SWBF leaderboards but I forget what the link is for that if someone has it on hand.

I tried adding a 7th local team to be zombies that can be released onto the map by breaking a barrier like I did for SLICE base (my AaTc map) but it has been crashing so far. Not sure if I hit the team limit or not.

Anyway, this definitely something I wish I was able to do as a preteen but unfortunately I wasn't ready until nearly 30.  :P  Wish me luck.

Yeah I found a thread about the flipx thing in the config.ini but it humorously flips it on the wrong axis when I change the value. I guess I need a flipy. I tried a redneck workaround by setting the rotation to 90 in ZE and rotating it 90 degrees, which got it on the right plane ingame but it was just too hard to work with so I'm scrapping that object.

Good to see you as well! I love these old nostalgia trips. I'm glad this place is still around. Hope all is well with you, Led!

SWBF1 Modding / Rotating Objects with .msh.option
June 23, 2025, 02:23:00 PM
Good afternoon all,

I have a custom object that shows up fine in ZE but ingame is rotated 90 degrees for some reason. Is there a way to rotate it in the .msh.option? I will be testing some methods such as just typing in --rotate 90 but I have no idea if this will work.

Good morning all,

In the same vein of this post I have returned years later to play with mod tools again but I'm having trouble this time getting BFBuilder to work at all. It won't recognize new projects it creates and ZE says I must have SWBF installed. If I remember right the BFBuilder folder needs to be in the same folder as the exe, right?

Edit for future reference
I solved this by downloading Led's mod tools, using the BOPC fix, and creating a lucasarts folder instead of using Program Files (because there can't be any spaces)

A kind member of the community gave me the link to the video I mentioned above. 2009... crazy.

Good evening battlefrontians who still hold the front lines for us.

I just went to find the Great Galactic War 2 Tournament website on webs but apparently webs.com no longer exists. All the tournament websites, clan websites, modding showcases, and everything are all gone. I am interested in using this thread to post any historical data that people may have and want to post somewhere but specifically I was wondering if anyone had the link to a video I remember commemorating the GGW2. My clan (AaTc) along with DssR and _(VS)_ won it and there was a cool video about it on the GGW website. I think it may have been posted to youtube but with such a generic name I can't find anything by searching for it. If anyone has a link that would be awesome. xfire, gamespy, and then the final vestige of webs has finally fallen. RIP my favorite game.

----

I found the AaTc clan website in the Wayback Machine at aatcclan.webs.com. I'll look for my mod showcase next but I wanted to put here an interesting tidbit I found: The xfire shutdown message:

System Broadcast:

Dear Xfire users - It is with sadness that we must announce that the Xfire Social services will be shutdown on Friday (June 12th). Please visit social.xfire.com to download your video/screenshot data. We apologize for the short notice - Xfire Community Team

General / Re: Memories on the Battlefront

I figure why start a new topic when I could just bump this one a couple years into the future.  ::)

I think I've talked on here before of how much SWBF1 meant to me. Some of my most formative experiences (for better or worse) were on that game. Even modding the game has stuck with me as a creative itch I always have to keep scratching in some way. I love having a vision of something and bringing it to life in some creative medium. It's the only time I really feel purpose in life.

I also still to this day struggle to make friendships better than the ones I had as a kid in this game. Some of you guys are still around but most of them I never realized when I talked to them for the last time. I think that's why I still visit old websites every now and then. I can never beat the hilarity of those servers. Sometimes I'd just have long conversations on xfire with my friends without even playing any game. I rarely have long conversations with friends into the night nowadays but it does happen on occasion. It's just surprising to think about me doing that as a kid. I never even knew what most of my best friends looked like lol.

Since I'm droning on now I'll wrap it up with this: I have a lot of great memories I'll cherish forever. Nade pulting, glitching, sniping, tournaments (AaTc winning GGW2 is still a highlight of my life lol,) winning tough matches, and modding were so fun. Still the best memories I have are of "sledding" on Rhen Var, or playing "wookie hunt" on CC, or glitch hunting on mod maps in a server with friends or clanmates. The relationships made this game. I doubt there will ever be a game like it.

I always get this error: "You did not enter anything to search for..." when I try to put only a username with no text to search for.

General / Search by user

I seem to remember being able to search the downloads page by user but now it seems to need some text to search as well. I'm just trying to see all uploads by a certain user though. Is this possible? Can't seem to figure it out.

Yeah that was common knowledge even back in the day lol
