Sure you can probably get away with it being 1024x1024.


In Photoshop I opened the .bmp, scaled it down and chose the option 'Save As' choosing the option 'tga'.
At this point a dialogue box pops up with 'Targa Options'


I chose 24 bits/pixel and ensured the checkbox for compression (RLE) was off.


I expect if you're using a free image editing program like Gimp you would be provided the same options.

i'd typically use an image editor whenever dealing with converting image formats (photoshop), if you upload it here, I can take a look at it?

the latter pic reminds me of when the model rejects the tga for being formatted incorrectly; so just an obvious question, when saving the .tga are you ensuring that the checkbox for compression is off?

You might be able to accomplish this by hex editing the .msh to enable transparency, and then simply modifying the alphas for the backpack texture to make it invisible.

This would however eliminate the opportunity to use 'shiny' effects on the model for boots/gloves etc.

Also after all these years SWBFViewer suddenly runs fine on the wine wrapper on my Mac.

In the old days of modding, I'd have the Mac and a PC running along side each other and have to pop every skin over via memory stick just to check if said skin worked!

It had a good run, I suspect development on the next Battlefield + covid has brought us to a more abrupt ending than some hoped, but i believe the devs really won back the player base with the excellent support post-launch.

T-posed in the game? Have you got a screenshot?

If I recall correctly, the viewer is prone to displaying some textures incorrectly, you may need to a quick test in-game to check.
