Tech Support / Re: Question about PCI-E 1.0 and 2.0

It just means that the max speed of data transfer to the card is cut in half. There is no change in capabilities of the card itself

btw, by upgrade mobo I meant just upgrading to a new computer

SWBF1 Modding Tutorials / Re: How to make mission maps

I guess what he did is create a world that was just a layer file and load it into the game, which would make it work

to uninstall SWBF, go to the SWBF entry on the start menu and select "Uninstall Star Wars Battlefront". Follow the wizard and then make sure to delete all of your mod/map files. Finally, make sure that it is completely gone by going to C:/Program Files and deleting the folder "LucasArts" if it exists.

Now, for XFire, go to Control Panel, and (on classic view), open "Add or Remove Programs". If you refuse to use classic view, go find it on your own. Now, if you have a ton of programs installed, it might take a while for the list to show up, but once it does, scroll down to "Xfire (remove only)", select it, and click Remove. Again, follow the wizard, and assuming they don't look too hard, it should be gone

It should work, but the bandwidth to the card will be cut in half. However, if you plan on keeping that card next time you plan on upgrading the motherboard it would be a good idea to have the 2.0 card.

That looks like a side-effect of the unclean shutdown.

My last suggestion is to check for any driver updates. After that, I'm totally out of ideas :(

EDIT: actually, when the computer is about to fail do you hear a change in the fan speeds? Also, is this an instant freeze or a decline in performance until it freezes?

SWBF 1 and 2 Tournaments / Re: BomB Vs All # 2

Final video uploaded. Links:

Part 1 (Bes9)
Part 2 (CC)
Part 3 (CC)
Part 4 (CC)
Part 5 (CC)
Part 6 (CC)

Since I had 1 original video from each map, I have the map lengths:

Bes9: 10 minutes 24 seconds
CC: 48 minutes 49 seconds

Please can we never go so long again? :P

"Oops, I tripped on the map" XD

I guess that's mid-roll since I was never crawling during that match. XFire happened to use this frame as the image for Part 4 of the match video

DROID PUSHUPS ZOMG

I recorded video of the match! Only problem is it takes 40 minutes (20 for adobe, 20 for XFire) to upload every 10 minutes of game. I've got parts 1 and 2 out of 6 uploaded, and I'll upload the rest when I have time

keep an eye here for them

kernel panic perhaps?

Open up Applications/Utilities/Console. Click on the Logs button at the top of the window, open the folder /Library/Logs and click on panic.log. If the item at the bottom seems to match with one of your freezes, post the text of that section here. Otherwise. open system.log (it should be on the root level of the logfiles) and try to get the computer to freeze. Copy down anything new that shows up in the file as the system fails.

If you don't see anything in the window shown, as soon as you reboot the computer, open up Console and scroll up to the system boot. You should be able to find it when there is a University of California and a bunch of copyright dates. If you get to "SystemStarter: Startup Complete", you've gone too far. Look for anything that seems error-ish and post it.

if you don't see anything there, I guess you're out of luck

That's the point. You just want to see the computer's status

What makes you jump instantly to my name? :P

Actually, I know part of the protocol already. Some of you may know of the swbf php monitor. Whoever wrote it figured out how the server is pinged for data. The returned packet has the current status of the player, as well as the current map. I might be able to ping the server every few seconds to get a current snapshot and record the last one when the map changes, but it may miss some last second kills.

Interesting. Is this just Source, or really every part of Steam?
