OK Sam,

I see that you are still having trouble with zero editor.

Tell us exactly what you did and exactly what the error is.

I downloaded the new updated file, and extracted it to my C drive then copied BFBuilder out of the LucasArts folder directly to the C drive

Right after that I did the instructions on this page (http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=3544.msg37995#msg37995), because I want to edit the Bespin: Cloud City map, and see if I can make a better greater version of the map, maybe even add a spiral stair case and stuff, but then after 0 BFBuilder Pro loaded the map and stuff I clicked edit map it starts up Zero Editor screen and right after that it terminates saying this.

This time this was on my Windows 7, I haven't tried the new one on my Windows XP Professional computer, because I don't have another backup drive yet. But it was basically saying the same thing even when I wasn't trying to edit the bes10 file.

OK, let's start with something less complicated.

First, just click on the BFbuilderPro application and create a new world, such as Test.

Then import a retail side (any one) say CIS.

Then exit BFbuilderPro.

Then go into the DataTest folder and double click on Zeroeditor.

Let me know if it gives the same error.

Yes it did, the only thing that changed was the path for the file.

By the way do you need to have the original SWBF disc in your computer for this to work, or just a SWBF disc?, I recently noticed, I haven't had the disc in for almost a full year now, wonder why I didn't notice. x-D

Do you have SWBF installed on that computer?

And did you install the BoPC registry fix?

Yes I do, and no because I have the original SWBF game disc's, I thought the BoPC fix was for if you had Star Wars Battlefront Best of PC Disc??

Then again I may have installed it the first time on Windows XP Professional, but I am not sure, its been a while.

Run the registry fix anyway, it wont hurt.

If you have any DVD version of  the game you will need the fix.


The game has to be installed, but you do not need the game disk in the computer to use the mod tools.

If you have already installed the gamemaster patch, then you wont need the disk to play SWBF (but it has to be installed).

Try it again after the registry fix (and verify that SWBF has been installed on that computer) and let me know if it still has the same error).

Same thing happened again after the BoPC fix.

By the way what is the (50-SWBFViewer0.04) file for?

Its the MSH viewer.  Read the readme file in that folder.

Runtime error can be from a lot of causes.

Here are two last things you can try:
-right click on zeroeditor and set compatibility mode for windows XP and run as Administrator

-go to this website

and see if microsoft can fix it for you.

Config.ini should be right in that folder where zeroeditor is at, in the DataTestMap1 (or whatever) folder.


Did you see the Zero Editor splash screen behind that error message?

Figures, it just happens I have a browser hijacking right now and I avoided using it I let it stay the way it took over and I just pulled out another short cut of Internet Explorer in a different spot and have been using that one lately meanwhile figuring out what one it is, its my second one in fact I had Snap Do before that ones a bad one too, but this one the 3 malware things I installed didn't even catch this one! It took over Google Chrome mainly which I don't use much anyways.

It claim's to be Speed Browser, but I don't see anything about that online yet, so it may just be using that as a decoy name.

The web and WIKI state that Browser Hijacking is getting more and more frequent, so I recommend you guys to watch what you are downloading, and I will also give you guys a link about it on WIKI. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browser_hijacking)

By the way Rocket Tab is also a Virus.

It can't hurt to get rid of that malware stuff.

You won't know until you try it.

Why could zero edit not find the config.ini file?  Have you check to see if it is there?

I think an incorrect file path (among other things) could be causing this error. Make sure BFBuilder is extracted directly to the C:\ drive, not your desktop or something else with long names that uses spaces. The space keys break zeroeditor when it tries to load certain files, so if it was stored somewhere such as C:\Program Files\LucasArts\ this would cause errors. Make sure the config.ini file is also copied to every new folder you create using BFBuilder Pro.

Edit: It looks like you have tried this. I'll try to think of any other ideas but removing the malware is a good start.
There are 3 versions of the zeroeditor.exe with different date modified. Have you tried using all of them?

I updated it to the latest one.

I think it has to be the malware issue.  I used the install folder that I made on my XP computer and copied it to my Windows 7 computer, and ZE had no issues for me. 

I think either the virus is eating his config.ini file or his anti-virus is eating his config.ini file.  It makes no sense why it is not there.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's his anti-virus eating the file.
When I got my computer, Best Buy gave me a free trial to some "really nice" anti-virus software. It ended up eating almost all of my pictures, a few of the Battlefront mods I had downloaded, and even 2 Steam Games.

I'd say download what you need. If you think you need to redown the whole thing, go ahead.

If removing the Anti didn't work after all this, you're probably good to install your anti once again.
But then i dont know what to say about BFbuilder

I don't want to get rid of the Anti Virus programs I have, because they helped me get rid of 4 viruses off my computer, and believe it or not they where all Browser related type of Viruses, other wise if that doesn't work would you recommend me to change my bit color settings? on my windows 7?

If anti-virus is litterally damaging or deleting your files, it's not anti-virus software, it is a virus. Either that, or it's an pathetic excuse for technology, and you should get rid of it. Anti-virus software is meant to preserve your computer, not destroy it. What if it suddenly decided your whole system32 folder was corrupt?

I know for sure its a Anti Virus, my Dad checked the website with a special account, which he can check to make sure the site and stuff is safe, I just don't think I have any virus protection on here like my other computer did, I got this one from my cousin for about $150 dollars, I know cheep right x-D, he wanted to get a new one and get rid of this one, anyways I got browser viruses on my other computer too, and I just recently hopefully got rid of the viruses on this one now too, also would having browser applications and stuff open like Skype and Xfire and Internet Explorer  Steam and other applications on at the same time cause the Zero Editor problem too?, can't believe I didn't think of asking that till now. And I have nick changers on too.

Okay so it still says that Config.ini is missing, but I see the file there? is there maybe something that can be edited there or something to change it? or is it possible to make an installer version for Zero Editor and what not?

Or yet could you transfer me a good file or something for it though Xfire and try it that way to see if the problems something downloading off the web?

Or if we have to have someone help me though screen sharing???

If you uncompressed what I have uploaded to SWBFgamers with the updates of the mod tools, then you have everything you need.  It works perfectly on every computer I have transferred it to.

Led's right; If you haven't extracted (unzipped) the files, then the program isn't going to be able to search through your directory.

Did any of you try it on Professional versions??? Because that's what my Windows 7, and XP is. They are Professional versions.

I am wondering what the name of the files are supposed to be inside the folders, so like pictures of all the folders and files that are supposed to be in BFBuilder, that means the folders inside the folders, which means the subfolders and sub files I think.

And please if it is possible can someone make an installer exe for the LucasArts, and BFBuilder folder and stuff, like how an installer exe was made for the exe fix for SWBF in order to make SWBF work on Game Master. Then I can see if that works versus as if it just came in a Rar  Zipped file.

Where is another place that I can get an updated version of ZeroEditor, and should I also contact LucasArts to see if they would be able to help figure out how to make the ZeroEditor work on my computer??
