Title: Dedicated Server Bandwidth
Post by: Anyder on July 05, 2013, 03:09:37 AM
Ok, so the other day i was testing in 1.0 the servers bandwidth thing, and i saw that people was less lagged on a server with 2Mb Bandwidth (with 45 TPS) than on one with 3Mb+ (with 45 TPS).
What would u guys advise me to use ? Oo

Perhaps they were just physically closer to where the server is at. ;)

Example: In SWBFII I get better ping if I'm playing on a server hosted in California opposed to a server in New York.

yea idk but led said that it only set a max bandwidth cap per client so in theory 3072 should lag less? idk

The dedicated server help file says that the throttle is just a cap to the bandwidth.

You would want to cap the bandwidth to keep from using too much MB data transfer during a game.

Maybe we can set up a test server with a very low throttle and a very high one to examine the differences--but you would need several people on at the same time to notice anything.

yeah, that would be ok, but how many people on ? 6 people ?
