I was thinking, why don't we have a SWBF hall of fame? It doesn't have to be modding per say, just great contributors to the SWBF community! What do you guys think? Is it worth the time?
I think that a Hall of Fame would seem a tad "exclusive". Like if there's some dude that is already on the site and starts posting (like Ray), and they see this, they might wonder why they weren't on the Hall of Fame. As for contribution to the SWBF Community though, I think Led deserves that role. :P
Have you played the GGW Cantina map? It has a hall of fame of sorts, although it's fairly old.
I really need to play that map again...
That'd be a good idea. We should add some iconic people to a poll to see if they should be added to the hall of fame. Maybe we could have a little sub forum for people to post polls for specific people to be added..
For a start I'd definitely add Led
Well it wouldn't be a hall of fame without Led's name as #1! :cheer:
So are you guys all for this? Should I make a new topic with the actual list?
Honestly it sounds pointless (not to mention arrogant to think that the handful of people who post on this board are at all representative of the thousands of players the game has had.)
It would be a circlejerk basically
Doing a SWBF Hall of Fame bad idea. (For about the second or third time I am agreeing with Joseph here.)
Well of course it's not exclusive to those who post! For instance Battlebelk would be included and he has never posted here in his life!! :slap:
It would span over ALL of SWBF's communities. And anyone could nominate, but they have to have contributed somehow to the community.
I really don't know why you are so against it?! What's it going to do to you?
what would be the point?

The opinions expressed certainly would be restricted to those held by posters.
Would the staff of the GGWs have been included had I not mentioned it just now? Maybe, but my guess is no. But they surely deserve inclusion. That's an example of why the hall of fame would be pointless.
My objection boils down to there being a massive deficiency on the sample of players we have here. The vast majority of players simply aren't here anymore, much less following this site. You're free to create a HoF if you want, but this bias would render it rather meaningless.
If the Hall of Fame were restricted to, say, the last 12 months, then my criticism wouldn't make sense.
The SWBF Community has evolved drastically over the years, and I don't think enough members here would care to remember the important contributors from 2005-2010 or so.
Ok ok, bad idea. Forget I said it.
It's a fine idea kit, with some fine tuning. It could be HoF for SWBFgamers.com or active member of SWBFgamers.com or something more well defined.
I agree with SK, but Led's idea is cool I think..

Hmm. That seems a better idea than mine. Should we do that?
Eh, its like a delicious dessert, taste DELICIOUS, but does things to the size and weight of the body (that are not good for it..)
I think it would be a neat Idea, but it would still cause a bit of issues, being we are human and all...
Led definitely deserves credit though.
I agree about the dessert lol all these posts agree Led is a huge contributor to swbf. Just tell Led thanks on xfire some more :D A hall of fame would only cause dispute, it would be impossible to get everyone on it evenly. With the servers down dispute is what we don't need. As far as it matters to me everyone here is an equal contributor at this point in swbf.
We all know deep down inside that Led is a Hall of Famer.
If the SWBF Leaderboards are still up somewhere we could probably draw off of that. I think there should be nominations to a community-wide poll that will decide who gets added to our little HoF.

Here's the leadeboards:

Edit: These are really old. I would be shocked if anyone knew people from here.
Skullz = Definitely needs to be in Hall of Fame. Had the pleasure of knowing him for a while.
We implemented the award system.
WASN'T THAT ENOUGH?
if we were to vote id vote for Phobos for modding and ingame skill, then for a second Led or SleepKiller.

NO, I NEED MORE RECOGNITION TO STROKE MY EGO
I thought we had agreed a SWBF hall of fame in general was a bad idea?

I think Kit wants to do a SWBFGamers.com Hall of Fame now.
I obviously deserve to be in the hall of fame for spamming this forum way too much.
:P

Well of course.
I have no view on this now, so if you guys really want to do it for swbfgamers.com hall o' fame then I'll be for it! But if we don't I won't kill a certain killer of sleep either. ;) :P
What about a list of all battlefront players who we're active at the time of the game-spy crash and just say what the did like Led is the father of SWBFGAMERS , Phobos is one of the top moders. then list the ICW admins and Reps for the ICW clans. then a list of active clans and their members. And thank me for coming up with this idea :tu:
I still don't understand the point of one, but if enough people support it  Might as well see how it goes
Seems rather pointless, and it'll probably result in a lot of arguments...

Unfortunately I have to agree. Idk why we have to argue so much
The original poster has pulled out of this idea so I will lock it :)
