Since Filefront is going down, we need to save the maps there! Can people help me download parts of Ryanceros's long list of excellent maps (//http://mpcgamers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=310)? I've already downloaded A - D myself, but I need help! Please sign up and download the letters that you've signed up for!

Thank you, everyone- ill be pulling off a list in the next few days and sending it to each of you (with only your respected files as noted by letter) and if you could check to having them we can make sure we get atleast all of the SWBF1 files, as i know GT is working well hard on getting SWBF1 and 2 files.

whats the chance of getting ftp access and i can pull down everything (swbf2) too? does anyone know anyone in the know?

We still need two more spots to be taken! I can take one, but can someone take the other?

I have most of the Maps already since I have played for a while (of course not with you fine people). So I may have some stored away but sign me up for any spot you would like. Just message me so I know what I am signed up for.

I have also been downloading a lot from FileFront. I will store it for safe keeping and then upload it sometime.

I'm downloading everything I can off Napseeker's page. I'll reupload it to MegaUpload if you want.

"Just finished archiving all the SWBF1 stuff. I only got the newest versions of files, no outdated stuff. It totals 6.15GB" so we shouldn't have to worry about rushing to get them off.

I will start from the bottom and work my way up the first post of Ryans
list tonight, and then go back for the utilities.

The FTPs for the network sites have always been restricted to staff, and even staff was shut out of access on Tuesday.

They're preparing to shut down sadly. Good to hear that is seems like all the maps will be somewhere safe for the time being!

That was one of the reasons this was (/is) such a pain in the rear. They probably could have saved themselves a lot of bandwidth (and saved us a lot of community confusion) by continuing staff privileges - we would have been able to redirect users from their sites to our own without a lot of confusion, and we could have just downloaded the contents of the site directly (granted it would be about a 47 GB download).

doesnt battlebelk have a filefront account?

I never hurts to have multiple copies in your personal backup, incase something happens to someone's backup or download, so if you can, pick some mod/maps and digg in.

EDIT:

Battlebelk does i'm pretty sure, i can look up his page and download everything off just incase he doesn't have backups.

Update: My computer's crashing from the downloading. Gonna put some stuff on a flash drive or two and see If I can store it all. If anyone has Hoth07, please tell me. I can't sleep until I find it (not really, but you know).

Do we need the v.75 and test levels and such? Or just the finished stuff?

it never hurts to keep downloading things you do not already have, the more backups there are, the less chance of anything getting lost.

I know it took me a long time in total, but I did it over nearly a year span.

Well, I'm glad you got them all. I never bothered to keep all the read me stuff and other extraneous files cause I never thought this would happen.
I'm glad someone has it all, freshly downloaded.

You might need to update your post BTW. Most of the ones on the main FileFront site are dead already, especially Nap's big packs (EvC, JvC, EaG)

Yep, as soon as the new links are available I will update all of them. I'll wait for them all to be updated first though, and then do them all at once. (since filefront is closing in a few days)
As for Napseeker's maps, he said in another post that he would upload them again next month because he used up all his bandwidth this month... or something like that.

Hi,

First, Dresh, I dont think anyone was able to get that mod from that link.  By looking at the posts, there were a lot of complaints that it could not be downloaded.  However, there is another mod that includes that one and other skin changes.  I was able to get that one.


Also, I copied the file descriptions for all of the files on the SWBF section of filefront, and put them in a word document.  This may really help in rebuilding the database.  There is a snippet below.   It has the file name and map name with description so that we can tell the download file name and correlate it to the common name/description.

If anyone wants the document, just let me know.

I have copies of everything in the swbf section and all the maps bar the beta's for swbfII.

The only one i havnt got is the one i mentioned!

We are in the process of setting up a downloads manager on the Joomla part of the site.

Obviously, for those of you who don't like that portion of the site, that's going to be a problem, but I'm looking into getting the databases joined.

Filefront is slowly getting rid of its servers.

as of 9:04 pacific time March 31st, you can still download any file from swbffiles, all you have to do is use the "search" button. They don't show up when you just click maps, but if you search for a map it will show up. You can still download anything you want from swbffiles if you know the name of the file your looking for. Hurry and download while you still can.

The categories have returned, makes me wonder if it were an April Fools joke. If it were, FileFront has just lost a hell of a lot of the SWBF community,

there is no way that this would be an april fools prank.  Too much money to lose.  There are way too many communities affected, not just SWBF ones.

There may be many reasons why the stuff is still there.  Maybe they are just leaving it for now as it does not need to be removed yet.  don't hold your breath guys!

Yes, it is rather annoying. Obviously though a deal was struck between the old owner and the original founders that kept the site alive.
