Title: PC taken hostage by softwear
Post by: Xfire Keenmike aka cull on November 30, 2010, 11:30:45 PM
Hi, I don't know if others know this either way it is good. Sometimes an antivirus softwear will take your pc hostage. In my case I have two partitions set up on my xp computer. Few months ago I must have repaired a partition infected by a hostage taking thing (http://www.mpcgamers.com/smf/index.php?topic=2751.msg30184#msg30184) during a full system scan with avast. I went to it this morning and noticed no pop ups so I installed avast from cnet and did a full system scan to repair my most recent hostage infection. Now I have two working xp partitions.

sounds like the antivirus is just disguised. There have been several instances where i have been greeted with antivirus warning that are just viruses waiting to be installed.

On both of my occasions the pop up has been a different kind of program holding my pc hostage. I am glad to have found a solution.
