sorry everyone, support.steampowered.com is down for me so i cant access it.
When my friend trys to open steam he gets prompted a window saying "checking for updates". However, the text box remains on his screen for an indefinite period of time until he closes it. Because of this he cannot receive the update allowing him to download portal. how can he get a steam app with all the updates installed or a link to direct download of the most current steam update?
we already tried reinstalling but i will also tell him to close out other applications
