Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a pretty big update to my Galactic Warfront project. What originally started as a custom SWBF2 PS2 server has expanded into a system supporting both Star Wars Battlefront (2004) on PC and Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) on PS2.
The idea behind the project is to give multiplayer matches a little more meaning by connecting them to a persistent Galactic War.

How the Galactic War works
Each game has its own independent Galactic War, with separate campaigns for the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War.
Every completed match contributes to the larger conflict. Battle results determine which faction controls each battlefield and planet. A faction needs to establish a victory lead across all the battlefields on a planet to capture it.
Once a faction captures every battlefield in its era, it wins the war. The completed campaign is archived, and a new war begins.
The idea is to create an ongoing conflict that players can influence just by playing normally. You don't need to organize anything or participate in special events. Just join a server, play some matches, and help your faction take control of the galaxy.
The Galactic Warfront website
I've also been building a web dashboard that tracks everything happening across the servers.
The website now has a game selection page with dedicated dashboards for SWBF1 PC and SWBF2 PS2.
Some of the features include:
Live battle map: Watch ongoing matches with player positions, vehicles, heroes, and command posts displayed on an interactive map.
Live scoreboard: Follow the current match and player activity.
Galactic territory map: See which factions control different planets and how the war is progressing.
Player statistics: Individual player records, performance statistics, and faction history.
Leaderboards: Compare player performance across recorded matches.
Battle archive: Browse previous matches and their results.
War archive: Follow the history of completed Galactic Wars, including winning factions.
Faction badges: Players can earn badges for participating in victorious campaigns.
The live battle map is probably my favorite part. You can watch the action unfold from your browser, including individual soldiers moving around, vehicles, command posts, and heroes.
Everything is separated by game, so SWBF1 PC and SWBF2 PS2 have their own statistics, battles, and campaign histories.
A little background on the project
I should mention that this entire project has been developed with AI assistance. I'm not a professional programmer or game server developer. I've mostly been experimenting to see how much functionality I could build around these older games without requiring players to install custom clients.
It's grown quite a bit beyond what I originally planned! That said, I'd still consider everything a beta. There are probably bugs, some statistics may need adjustments, and parts of the AI modifications still need additional testing. I'm especially interested in feedback from people familiar with the original games who might notice things that aren't behaving quite right.
Look for Galactic Warfront on PS2 and Warfront CW or Warfront GCW on SWBF1 PC in the server browser. Even if you don't get a chance to play, feel free to check out the website and let me know what you think. I'd really appreciate any feedback, bug reports, or suggestions. I'm mostly doing this because I enjoy these old Battlefront games and wanted to give people another reason to keep playing them.
Thanks!
