My question is very simply. I want to know if there is a way to create a new era for battlefront 2.

Yes, it is possible but right now I can't explain how to do it cause the way i'd do it requires of time and i dont have it right now :(

But it would be creating a "modmap" which would redirect to the stock map with new SIDEs and mission (at least i'd do it that way)

I would do the same think however i think he mean how to add 3rd era next to the cw and gcw in the menu when you select a map.However i dont know how to do that aswell...Im still learning some stuff moving from BF1 to BF2 modding.
