I got the game back in 2006, and played 1.0 for about a year.  I didn't know there was a 1.2 at the time, but even then I wouldn't have cared.  I played with many different people when I could.  I joined my first clan {DX} (not at all related to the new clan that popped up before Gamespy went down) and rose the ranks there.  I decided I was better (a little overconfident, maybe...) and started my own clan.  Because I had dialup (and still do), I could not host servers, and I only ever got a couple people to join the clan.  I stopped in 2007 due to having so much other stuff in life and my clan had failed miserably.
Fast forward to 2009.  We get a new computer, I pick up the game again and go "Wonder if anyone still plays online?"  Yep, they do.  And there's this guy Bobby with this clan of like 50 people running around, with some other clans like [NJ] and (the clan I eventually joined) {WAR}.  The clan was very skilled, but inconsistent at arriving to stuff.  I played in what was supposed to be an official battle with BOB, and I was the only one who showed up vs about 10 BOBs.  It ended up being a fun game with a couple BOBs with me vs the rest of BOB, and I made new friends.  Sadly, about 3-4 months after I joined, the whole {WAR} clan left, leaving me.  So I joined BOB in February 2010 and they let me come in.  In August they needed a temporary leader (I had risen the ranks quite fast) and I was appointed and the job stuck.  I'm still there today.  I didn't even test the waters of 1.2 until about late 2011, and would play there once in a while to get better when 1.0 was a little slow.

Ok, I've droned on for too long.

P.S. I asked Led to bring SWBFgamers to 1.0 before Gamespy went down about 8 months later.  It was awesome to have 24 hours servers which I hadn't seen since like... 2007.

So what do we get if we win? I never asked that question before.

Easter Egg contest: just find my avatar pic, and you win!

Also, how did you get the train/terrain to move like that?  Is it a scrolling msh on the terrain?  But that wouldn't make sense because it actually seems to be... moving, and yet, it's not.

I believe there are two matches for everyone in the first round.  So both matches must be done by this Friday.

To play SWBF1 online, you must follow these directions...

It talks about the Tunngle program that we must now use due to the shutdown of Gamespy's SWBF1 servers.

Welcome to the forums!  I'm the ghostly moderator...

Blood Gulch is too overused in my opinion. :P
I love Blood Gulch.

I'm inclined to award the match to the team that showed up at the original agreed time-- that is of course assuming that Penguin had already agreed to the time.
Penguin and I had discussed over PM the times for this.  He suggested 9:30pm EST on Friday, and I declined, saying Saturday might be better (and maybe we could go a little earlier on Saturday too, knowing that we had someone in a non-US time zone).  He suggested 9pm EST on Saturday, and I agreed.  I never got a hold of Penguin after that to remind him or anything.

Nobody in TcF knew we were battling, so we started an hour late with a 5v3 with 2 TcF and 212 Josh.  Sleepkiller may decide what he wants to do with that.  I have a screenshot if needed.

TcF has not showed up for the battle yet.  My team is waiting and I cannot get ahold of Penguin or any other TcF member.

Requests / Re: lvl files extractor ?
January 28, 2014, 10:35:04 AM
For that particular thing, you will need the mission.lvl editor by Battlebelk.  What it does is take the original .lua files and then compile them into a new mission.lvl file.  A guide by Phobos is linked for your convenience.

Included in that is also the link to Battlebelk's toolbox with the builder.

Edit: Or just use the link Mart had to get just the builder.

SWBF1 Modding / Re: Tatooine map (I am working now)
January 22, 2014, 09:15:23 AM
I don't work with the core.lvl much so I can't help you too much there...

The level was great.  There were a couple things I noticed:
- The biggest one I think was the "Carbon Freezing Chamber-like" command post.  Walking out one of the doors is a glitch.  There should be something blocking the door because you can walk right through one of the bottom doors (There is a wall on the outside).
-The other big one I noticed is a flaw with the creation of the portable shield.  It is tough to fix, or even notice for that matter.  Basically, do not hit the shield button too many times too fast or you will become the shield, to which your demise is a crashed game because you can't switch back. (You may be able to if you respawn...? Maybe).  Encountered this problem with my creations like that.

There were a few small ones but I don't quite remember except low-rez sides and first person views are kind of awkward.  Low-rez vanguard is a trooper (with a backpack) (I know, it's not a big deal, but I might as well say it), and I noticed another one like that.  First person gloves do not match the user sometimes.

Other than this, it was great to destroy buildings all the time and have an expansion to Mos Eisley.  Great job!

Well normally server crashers have high pings, so just kick the people with high pings

Nope.  Server crashing (as far as SWBF goes) does not rely on ping.  I can't tell you how many times (a longgg time ago) I got booted because "High ping" or "lagger".  Slow Internet was never an excuse...
