For this Mod Map night, Sereja's maps are a "no-go".  I spent so much time messing with Nar Shaddaa, only to have it crash in the Dedicated Server software.  I will try to make these maps work for multiplayer for whenever the next mod map night is.

I will have the Map Pack up soon.

General / Book thread

Post here a good book you've read.
The next person to post should post something about a book before, even if they have never heard of it (which means go to google and search the book and post something).  Learn something from the experience :)
*Note: if there is another book thread, I'm sorry.  Unit 33 wanted a book thread.

George Orwell's 1984.  I thought it was a good book.  So many references in it are used today.

Released Maps and Mods / Re: Big Battles Mod

If it is just a mission mod with only increased units and reinforcements, it is online compatible.

I do wonder why many weapons is such a bit issue, doesn't really seem like that big a deal to me..
Ahh, here we go.  Multiplayer = less flexible than single player.  Hard coded limitations are so wonderful.

I was contemplating what weapons to take away... They are all awesome.  (I did realize that Sereja made almost all of his mods have 5 weapons).

It would be interesting to have Nar Shaddaa Multiplayer but that's going to be a little bit more extensive at first I believe.  Stock sides I guess at first and then work from there.  The other levels shouldn't be much of an issue.

Reset Kit Fisto's post count? What do you guys think?

DO IT!  It will make up for all those years of spamming.  ;)

Fun night never happened because Phantom didn't get the maps up and couldn't access the server from his computer because he kept making a mistake... it's on Sunday 3/30 now.

So, I have gotten this to partially munge on 64-bit, but I don't know if this is the same problem other 64-bit users have or not.

My lvl gets mostly munged and then... WHAM!
Code (txt) Select

soundflmunge.exe : Error : At least 1 value(s) must be specified for switch -banklistinput  - while munging

This happens whenever the .stm file is munging. (the file that defines the streams).  The command prompt itself says that it cannot find the path specified.  So basically I have a sound.lvl without the streams.
Suggestions?  Comments?  Find a 32 bit OS to munge on?
I'm going to keep messing with this until it munges...

Also, I notice that nothing has the common.bnk file in it.  Is this necessary?

Note that serejas maps don't usually work for MP.

That's why I'm working on them :)
I don't know if they will be ready for this Sunday or not.  I'll try to keep everyone updated.

So far:
Hyperion 1 and 2 (Great maps)
Rhen Var: Frozen Corridor (I had never played this one, it's a nice map)
Eddie's Italia

Possible others (or future map nights):
Sereja's maps
Polar Express OC (I'll have to work on this unless someone else has one already made)
Otoh Gunga (Currently working on with Sereja's permission and a couple suggestions he wanted)

Other maps I'm considering:
Eddie's Maps (Death Star, etc.)
Jai Nollan (love this map)

Any more suggestions?

Max the demented-looking bunny makes an appearance in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.  Twice.
Aurebesh translations (Hopefully they are right, I never checked for accuracy)

In movies...
C3P0 and R2D2 make appearances in Indiana Jones.
R2D2 is in a recent Star Trek movie.

I can set this up next weekend also with a little bit more planning.

It's been a while since I've set up a mod map server so please bear with me.  Please say some maps you would like to see and I will try to accommodate them.

This sounds more like a problem with your game specifically, not with LAN or servers.  If the final scores are not showing up, then I would look at reinstalling your game completely with disc.  I say this because PLA Cloud City is used quite often and I personally have never seen it.
Do you shut down all programs when you play (other than Tunngle)?  Is your game slow to begin with?  Anything weird on your screen?

The only problem I know of relatively like this is the "End-of-Game hang" where nobody can go on because the Done button does not show up on the scores screen.

I volunteer.  Although if unforeseen circumstances come up, you may need a backup plan.

ODF files can be opened using any text editor.  Like Notepad.
Please check this topic for more programs.

So just go over to your friends house and bring your computer (or vice versa) and play via LAN. It's the best way to play since you can talk to each other in.....REAL LIFE! Da du du.
;)

That would be great.  Except he's in England.  I'm in America.  Hence the usage of VLAN.
But, how did you get it to work over LAN with VLAN?  Direct Connect days are done without a master server working, and VLAN programs are usually tailored towards Windows with the exception of GR which doesn't support cross-platform even though it says it does.
