----RAKA'S ADVENTURE beta----
by Breakdown

Story:

Raka is a young peasant, a lone survivor of a deadly invasion that
took his people from the land to make them slaves. There is a fairy
tale that says in the Brown Mountains there lies a portal to the
lair of Lord Arnold, the Wielder of Noroth. However, in order to
use this portal, the seeker must also find 4 energizers scattered
across the land..

-----
/end cheesiness

Well here we are, beta release of Raka's Adventure. After a long
five or so months of work (with countless breaks) I feel I have
a map that is in presentable and working condition for play. Due
to the map being based on searching, I decided I will just give you
a quick flythrough of where the "energizers" are at.

-Lake (island near the middle
-Castle (near the top of a tower)
-Maze (in the woods area)
-City (on top of the arch)
- Mountains (there is a smooth slope to climb up somewhere
near the base of the mountains)

I don't want to give you too many hints, I want it to be challenging
as possible.

So, you're pretty much on your own. Go to MPCGamers.com to give
feedback and comments regarding the map.

The actual lair of "Lord Arnold" will be in a map coming out soon
as well.

Good luck!

Also, note this doesn't work in MP, sorry.

Hello

I'm making this thread to adress common problems and issues with Zero Editor, and how to solve them. If you have a question about Zero Editor, ask here, I'll try my best to answer, and it will be added to the FAQ.

This can also serve as a mini guide, since a lot of these questions aren't really frequently asked

Other mappers here, if you have to answer to a question, I highly welcome you to post it here.

Zero Editor FAQ/Common Problems and Their Solutions/Guide

Q: In ZE, the texture looks fine, but in game it's very bright. How do I fix this?
A: There should be a "COLOR" tab at the top of the Zero Editor application, select a shade of grey from the pallete and cover the bright areas with it, this should help with the brightness
-------------------------
Q: How do I insert CP Regions?
A: To insert CP regions, do the following:

1) In ZE click on the Regions tab

2) Click "New Group" and select the sphere, place it somewhere near a CP and adjust

3)This will be your capture region, say it's for your CP named "CP3"

4) Under Region ID write in "CP3Sphere" and under Properties write in "CP3Capture"

5) Now, go back to objects, click on your CP and to the right some boxes to fill in should appear.

6) Under captureregion type in "CP3Capture", because that was the properties name you gave it, make sure to press enter after typing it in

7) To set up control regions, do the same thing, except use box regions, and change the properties so it says "CP3Control" or whatever corresponds, and write in CP3Control under the Control Region part of the CP.

-------------------------

Q: How do I get objects into my map?
A: First of all, you need the correct MSH/ODF/Effects files to work whichever props you want in zero editor. Let's say you are making a forest-like map, and you want all the trees from Endor. These are the steps to get some of these props in ZE, and in game;

1) Find this destination on your computer, or whichever harddrive your BFBuilder is stored on:
C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder\Assets\Shipped Worlds\Endor

2) Good. Now open up My Computer again, and go to your Mod's folder, specifically the "world" folder. Example: C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder\Dataexample1\Worlds\example1

3) Now go back to the Endor folder, which should still be open. While still in the "Endor" folder, you should see folders saying MSH, ODF etc. And you want all the files to do with trees. So this is how I do it.

4) Hold down ctrl+f or click search at the top of the window in the endor folder. You want to search for the word "tree"

5) Now don't panic, a lot of stuff probably just filled the window, these are the tree files you were looking for. Right click in any blank space in the window, and change View to "Details"

6) Under "type" it should be in order. One chunk of the list is MSH/TGA/OPTION files, and another chunk should say "ODF File" under Type. First lets copy over all your MSH files

7) To do this, drag your mouse over all the MSH/TGA/OPTION files, or click on the first file, hold down shift and click the last MSH/TGA/OPTION file that's in that column. Now copy them, and paste them into this destination:  C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder\Dataexample1\Worlds\example/MSH

8) Do the same with your ODF's, copy them all over into: C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder\Dataexample1\Worlds\example/ODF this time

9) That parts done. Now open up ZeroEditor, click on the Object tab and in the left dialouge box thingy, and find where it says "ODF File". Under that it should say "BROWSE". Click that, and find C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder\Dataexample1\Worlds\example/ODF again. There should be all the ODF's for your trees. Select them, and then place them in your map. And you're done!

Requests / Voice Actors Needed for Raka's Adventure
December 13, 2009, 03:18:17 PM
Hi all

I don't feel like cluttering up the actual W.I.P. Topic anymore so I'll post this request here

I need "vocie actors/acresses" for Raka's Adventure. I'm making it so in certain areas if you walk up to somebody  they have a sound region that plays them talking, which will give you certain instructions as to where to go and what not

REQUIREMENTS FOR BEING A VOICE ACTOR:

- Needs to be willing to work (Duh)

- Needs to have a mature voice (unlike me)

- Should be able to have a wide range of impersonations they can make with their voice, for example, if I ask for a British accent for a certain like, you should be able to provide an accurate one

- Needs to have a good quality recording, and able to send me the files in .mp3 or other such media files (except for .wav, I need to convert that myself)

- Overall you should be able to have fun, I don't want to drag someone into this if they don't want to, you should have enthusiasm and willingness

If you want to be a part of this and try out to be a "voice actor" for R:A, please send me a PM.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Once you send a Personal Message to me asking for an "audition", I'll send you a line to be recited in the map. Then, record yourself saying it, send it to me in .mp3 and I'll decide afterwards.

Thanks a lot, I hope I get some volunteers!

Hey

This topic gets discussed in like 3 different topics a month it seems, so lets move it all here and talk about it here

Basically, if you want all the best SWBF3 news, check out http://battlefront3.net/

So far I hope this game has a better focus on Rebels, I'm getting sick of clones atm, I also hope it comes with modding tools :D

Other Games / LOTR: Conquest
December 06, 2009, 07:57:31 PM
Hey all

I bought this game for PC during the summer, played it for one day, and uninstalled. Why? Because it was way to slow for my computer, pretty much just a rehash of SWBF and I sucked at it.

I reinstalled it again today, lowered all my settings all the way, tried to appreciate it (I had jsut finished watching the LOTR movies so I was in the mood for some LOTR action). And I must say, this game DOES have some fun times in it. With settings turned down, it looks like absolute rubbish, but it's still fun to play. Online is cool too

Anyone else play it?

My favourite class is probably Mage :D

SWBF1 Modding / List of current SWBF1 Modders
November 26, 2009, 06:16:25 AM
Hi all

I'm just curious, how many SWBF1 modders do we still have for this game? I want to make a list just for a reference. If I missed you out, please post. Also, don't say "I'M A MODDER11" if you've only dabbled in a few ODF edits two years ago. Also, don't post here if you actually haven't done any modding for an extended period of time

List:

Breakdown
ggctuk
Napseeker
_Dread
Hardcore
gogo12
EA711
Cull
MileHighGuy
wookiejedi
xshat
Nexus

Remember, this is just a reference list so we can keep track of the limited modders the SWBF1 community already has

SWBF1 Modding / (W.I.P.) Raka's Adventure
November 06, 2009, 06:55:24 AM
In a world of despair, and fantasy clichés...

RAKA'S ADVENTURE

In a land far away, an evil ruler has triumphed over the good kingdom, forcing the people to be his slaves, leaving the land barren, the places the good people left behind slowy becoming ancient relics.

Raka Teron was a young peasant who lived in  the southern fields behind the Great Castle, when the evil ruler Olos took control over the good people, Raka had hid away in a secret compartment in his basement, listening to the aweful sounds of his family being wrenched away from the home, screaming for mercy.

Raka lay in the compartment for 6 days. On the seventh day he emerged, to find that no people had escaped. The fields and the castle and mountains were unthouched, almost as if they all just simply dissapeared...

There was an old fairy tale that said in the Brown Mountains there was a sword that could kill any type of evil. However, the sword is not easy to find, there were pieces of a map scattered all across the land in small tombs, usually protected by a puzzle of sorts. When all the map pieces are put together properly, they revealed the location of the Sword of Slayers, deep inside it's mountain cave.

Raka decided he had no choice, if the fairy tale was really the truth, he mustn't take chances. And so, Raka began his grand adventure.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
/drama

So here we go, Raka's Adventure! As you may see, this map is completley different from Raka's quest, actually, after this one, Raka's Quest will be considering obsolete, I didn't like it too much.

I made this one in it's own world so I could have more freedoms with my ideas. As you may remember from the screenshots topic, I had posted some early pics of this, it was originally supposed to be in Dantooine, but yeah that has all changed...

So, the point of this map to roam the land searching for these map pieces. Seems easy right? Nah. There's going to be a lot of thinking involved in this. I plan to  have each map piece guarded by a "Guardian of the Dark" or something, just to add that old video game flavour of having bosses at the end of each "level".

Check this topic often, I will be updating!

SWBF1 Modding / ZE crash?
November 01, 2009, 03:54:35 PM
Hi modders

So I've been working on a nice map for about a month or two now, and all of a sudden, just today, it won't let me open up the .wld file in ZE

It will go halfway through loading it and then it will crash, I have no idea why, I wasn't doing anything risky or anything earlier today, I was just making a map like I always do

Any suggestions as to what I should try to do? :-/

Naboo: Airfield (ZOMBIE EDITION) Beta

http://www.SWBFgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=65

So, for just a small project for Hallowwen, I modified the Naboo Airfield map into a special zombie editon

It's still in beta stages, but remember, this isn't really  a serious project, just a fun little thing I made out of boredom, so don't bother making a list of bugs saying "localisation needs to be fixed, skin needs to fixed" etc. etc. I might make more changes before actual halloween.

Also, I reccomend you play this in MP with a few buddies, much more fun that way.

The main objective for both teams is jsut to survive and kill the other team completley, the map is too small for something objective based

SWBF1 Modding / SWBF2 Conversion Pack?
September 23, 2009, 06:41:53 AM
No , I'm not talking about the conversion pack in SWBF2.

But I was thinking since everyones kinda getting the feel for porting over maps from SWBF2, why don't we make a converson pack like GT did for SWBF1 maps?

This way, all the maps would be open to the public without having to download like 10 files at once. Plus some extra stuff liek skins and whatnot could be included.

Just a thought.

Other Games / New LucasArts game announced
September 11, 2009, 06:05:30 AM
Some have you may have seen reports of Lucas Arts introducing an all new game on GTTV last night, and well here's what we got--

http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/lucidity/1023684p1.html

"Lucidity"

"Lucidity is a puzzle-platformer where you play as Sophie. Sophie's grandmother is getting old, and these dreams she's having are usually about Sophie looking for her grandmother. You don't control Sophie; she walks no matter what.

What you're doing is placing pieces down in front of her to guide her through the level safely. There are thirty story levels and about fifteen bonus levels to complete."

So it's not SWBF3 or something like that, but ehh I probably won't get it

SWBF1 Modding / New HUD?
August 29, 2009, 08:27:39 AM
Well I've started to work on a new HUD for SWBF, thanks to Battle Belks common.lvl tool.

Since I love you all, what woudl you like to see in a new HUD?

Note: As far as I know I can only change icons, and colours and whatnot, I can't really change the actual shape of the HUD.

Just a quick little edit I did, notice now that instead of a barely distinguishable human figure on the health bar, we have a red cross! :P

Note: I can also change reticules (the aimers), so feel free to suggest that too!

SWBF1 Modding / Raka's Quest 2.0 (W.I.P)
August 19, 2009, 03:07:27 PM
Well currently, I am working on a second version of Raka's Quest, with more gameplay areas and fixes from the original.

However, since I am making this for you guys, I thought I could get your guys's opinions and suggestion! Since I didn'tr eally get that much input in the 1.0 topic. It'd be really nice if you could list all the bugs that NEED to be fixed

NEW CONTENT:

Cruiser level!
  - The Rebel Cruiser Raka thought to be safe has been taken over by the imperials!
  - New checkpoints and missions throughout the cruiser, originally the last part in 1.0
  - The cruiser is flooded with imperials, so you may have to find different options other than running around joyfully destroying everything...
  - Destroy main components of the ship and make an escape from theoverrun cruiser

Improved Imperials
  - I thought that the Imperial units that were shipped in 1.0 were sort of cheap, as in I put little work in them, so now I will work them over and make them more...Breakdown style  8)

Improved Multiplayer
  - I still need more suggestions on this, but I am planning to upgrade the multiplayer for better experience,
  - This is where you can come in! I know the MP wasn't really great with the whole jumping around thing, since grappling hook crashes in multiplayer, so I need some suggestions!

Raka/Olos Changes

  - Raka's weapons will be changed for better effectiveness in the Star Destroyer level/ minor edits
  - Olos will be reskinned / minor edits

Locals  (POSSIBLE)
  - I may move the Tuskens to a local team, just to pester the player

More Health and Ammo, More Hidden!
  - I'll be adding more H/A bots, but they'll still be hidden! And the current ones will be changed location, so you can look for them again :P

Bug Fixes
  - The only one I can think of at the moment is the multiplayer heigh restrictions bug, which was patched
  - I'm counting on you guys to give me some bugs to fix, because the less buggy, the better

Those are all the changes I have in mind right now, I have a few others, but I have to work them out further before posting.

Don't ask for a release date, since school is coming soon, I won't have as much time to work on this, so it may take a few months. Screenshots are coming soon, I will try to keep your updated...but keep me updated with suggestions too please ;)

Just a little spreadsheet that you can edit to post your fastest completion times and most kills and what not for my Raka's Quest map

I trust that you guys will not lie and post ridiculous amounts, be honest, this is just for fun to keep track of,  some competition :)

SWBF1 Modding / Raka's Quest Closed Beta
July 24, 2009, 06:28:06 PM
Ok, well I made this as a different topic, because i didn't want to triple post in my other topic, which nobody has been commenting on I'm not able to post without breaking some sort of rule.

Anyway, I need about 5 RELIABLE people to test out a beta version of Raka's quest, I' haven't worked on it in about a week, but I decided I will let it get tested out before making more changes.

Once I get the 5 people, I will send a .zip file to you all....including the MP versions and SP.

(@HC: you don't need to sign up, you've already played this version, but you may still comment :P)
