Be sure RLE compression is turned off when the texture file is saved.  The default for a lot of graphics programs is on.

It depends on what graphics software you are using.  I am only (marginally) familiar with GIMP.  There is usually a check box to turn off RLE compression in the save as dialog box or something similar.

Anything else, you will need to look at your documentation and/or use google.

It will pop up a message saying so.

Also, please, avoid double-posting! You can edit your previous post adding the new info.

When you select the option File->Export and ensure you are saving as a TGA you will be presented with a window that looks like the following:
Uncheck the box as indicated.
