Hey all, been a while since I played BFII and thought of giving SWBFSpy a go again.

Is there any known Australian servers working? Main reason I ask is that my horrid upload speed means US servers have upwards of 200 ping where I am. (same goes for Team Fortress 2, good thing Valve put servers in Sydney)

And last I checked, ONLY the US had any servers...

If not, I do have a VPS I could start one on if there's enough aussies interested.

Oh, and my second question; has anyone noticed any significant change from the new update that came through on Steam? (for those using the Steam version)

Update history and information can be found here: https://steamdb.info/app/6060/history/

not working keep saying bink32.dll missing even when i installed it

You need to have the exe file in the same folder as Binkw32.dll (meaning; you need to add it to GameData).

I don't know why, but my AV detected the .exe file as a trojan virus for some reason.

1: I trust the file, but when I try to use Gameranger to connect to a BF2 server, this one doesn't work. But when I use the original, it does work.

Option 1:
- Install without the auto-installer. If that doesn't work, refer to option 2.

Option 2 (Worked for me):
- Do a clean install of the entire game, make sure you either delete or rename the old game file's directory (in the LucasArts folder). Then, install it and add the SWBFSpy patch and load it through the patch.

Hopefully one of these works. Phobos or Anyder may be able to provide further assistance, they know a lot more than I do on this situation.

Hope I helped in anyway possible.

Just wanna add, if anyone has Steam, it's not in the Lucasarts folder. it's in this directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Battlefront II
I believe for Gog it is simply in C:\Program Files (x86)    so:   C:\Program Files (x86)\Star Wars Battlefront II

SWBF2 German Exe file hex edited to remove the 20 chat limit

http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1400

Greetings :)

So, you know how there are 20 chat txt files in your GameData, right?
those are created whenever you join a multiplayer game. so, let's say that you reached the limit of 20 txt files but you're gonna play with a few friends and wanna keep the ingame chats just so you can look back to that day, however you reached the limit of 20.
so what will you do in order to remove the 20 chat limit?
it's pretty easy. you can either download the exe file I posted here or you can hex edit the files yourself using this easy and simple tutorial:

the reason as to why I think others might like this idea is because some people, such as myself, like having these chat txt files :)
if you need any help with hex editing, there is the tutorial video above or you can just ask me :) Enjoy!!

That is pretty sad. I will talk to him ASAP

Well you don't have to if it will make you both argue or something. Just felt like sharing how he's like.

Yes, I concur.

I just want to keep Scott Kevill (GR developer) on our side, and not give the impression that we are competing with him.

I personally don't find him that polite. and I think he's the one who seems to like competing with people...

^ example.

he also seems pretty arrogant (no offense) whenever I talk to him. no matter how nice I am to him. oh well...

What about making an ICW6 also on SWBF2 !!?  :moo:

Nobody would play it

I think we all know I would ;) I mean, it's mixed views here in the community, only issue is that the majority of us frequent posters/players prefer SWBF 1. I like them equally as much, it's really a matter of what I feel like at the time. Often SWBF 2 due to it's higher modding capabilities.

Well, then I correct myself, nobody from europe except maybe majesty would play it

I'm from Europe  :XD:

To be fair I think we could make a vote of some sort. Hopefully some new members would go along with it too!

I'd be up for it myself :)

Just got it working, looks like no one online atm but functions like a charm. That said, Gameranger is no longer functioning. It opens and lists the servers as it should, but when I attempt to join a game it opens SWBFII then gives me the "busy" pop up for 15 seconds-ish then says "could not connect". Now I don't really like gameranger to be honest, but since SWBFspy's servers seem empty for now, its more or less my only option. Please tell me how to either revert my patched copy of battlefront II to normal, or tell me how to change it to allow me to use GR, if possible.

GameMaster doesnt work with GR, so SWBFSpy won't either. you need the original exe file, what you could do if you don't have it, if you have the game on steam, firstly take everything you want from GameData: your SWBFSpy exe, your addon folder (if you have mods installed), and anything really.
then go to Steam Library, right click on SWBF2, go to Properties, go to Local, then go to Verify game cache. this will do a scan of your game and it will add back any deleted files (if you don't have the original exe file) however, reason I say for you to take addon folder and SWBFSpy exe and anything else is because, the scan will get rid of them sadly. so if it's on your desktop or downloads folder or anyhere it's fine as long as it's not on GameData.

good luck :)

All my servers have that. They are restarted automatically at 6am berlin time, and even in the weird case they dont get restarted for some reason, i reboot them myself at 10am.

that's good :)

We're aware of all that, but we wanna find out the exact problem.

Getting someone to reboot the server is complicated. If I had like 8 players and someone wouldnt be able to play, I'd feel sorry for that person, cause what I'm looking for is people to play, and they might stop playing there if the server is restarted...

And same goes to the cd-key changing thing, but people do not wanna purchase them anymore...

my clan server had an automatic daily restart during the night. at about 3 or so in the morning would be fine I think, since people would be asleep?
of course some EU people might be around but still. if you ever do try doing that just to see how it goes, maybe add an automatic admin announcement saying the server restarts at XX time. just a suggestion :)

Edit by Anyder: no piracy discussion please

We have tried all that.
The only thing we havent tried is the set-affinity thing. I'll post again once he replies

alright, good luck :)

sometimes this happens without anyone even using the cd key (it can simply be a bug)
usually what I've tried is keep joining with different names, restarting pc, getting an admin to restart his server or changing cd keys.
