SWBF1 Modding / Re: TRANSPARENT/INVISIBLE OBJECTS

Hi Mike,

I had the link, but the video got removed.

I think the different object types keep some things from being transparent.  For example, you can make a skin on a unit transparent, but the solid object underneath is still black or white, kind of like that picture of the mine in this post.

But I think that wall and floor textures are just 2-D objects, so setting them transparent can actually make them transparent, since there is no underlying solid object.

-Just my impression of how things work.

I don't have access to gameranger, but there are only 2-3 macs that come here anymore :(

I think the operating system upgrade put the final nails in the coffin.

oh, and Mike, Macs have their own system like GameSpy, called Gameranger.  The only way we that PCs and Macs can  play is by Direct Connection (DC).

--and I would be happy to host DC's again, if there were any Macs to play.

Yes, it is possible for some objects.  Some maps have transparent and semi transparent windows and things, like the windshield of a speeder.

I have seen a video of cloud city where the walls were replaced with semi transparent "windows".  I think your best resource is to take a look on gametoast for their tutorials.

Perhaps someone that visits here know how to do this, too.

Direct Connection will work.  You will either need to share a router of some sort (wireless or hardwired) or you will need a cross over ethernet cable.

One will host the DC, and the other will connect to it using the IP address supplied by the router.

But its not released yet  ;)

If you want endor made where you can play as an ewok, it would take only about 5 minutes, including upload time.

Cull is just pointing out that empire never plays against clones.

Cull, if you can make a no-download required mod that where empire plays against clones, I will host it!

Very smart to compile statistics!

So statistically, Empire is the strongest faction in the game?

Well, at least for cloud city, it appears, based on this sample.  It might also be interesting to see how many times empire wins by capping out CPs, as opposed to winning by tickets.

Unpacking the level file is not so easy.  However, there has been some work done.

Here is a lucas forums archive link:
http://www.lucasforums.com/archive/index.php/t-138043.html

I was able to make a capture of the Riley pages before it went down.

Please refer to this download.

There are also some gametoast links that you may want to examine, too.

Munging is the word use for compiling using the LUA programming language.  SWBF uses 4.0.
