Kit, I think I'm going to release this as part of "beta 2".  Your request for a no-fire map makes sense to me as a way to play the game with less lag, so this particular version of the map should actually be included in the official release.   I'll whip up a second mission map that loads this new map and include it as part of the beta2 package.  This way, gamers won't have to go thru the tedium of taking the existing single-player map and renaming it, copying in the no-fire map, making sure other gamers on the network have done the same thing too, etc.

You know what that means of course... beta2 in April 2014! :)

This. Unit 33 is right, the error that you reported means that you didn't install both map folders (one map has the sides and the map itself that you will need, the other is a mission map).  It sounds like you only installed the mission map folder.

Well, for the fix that you want, it wouldn't take too long. But I've no idea right now when such a release would come... could be tomorrow, could be next year (evil laugh begins...)

Holy smokes! Well that really DID take a year, didn't it?   I've finally freed up enough space, munged a new version of the map with what is essentially the turret fire turned down so much that I don't think you'll see them firing unless you plan on playing for a really, really long stretch.  This one should be suitable for doing multiplayer games with, should see a lot less lag with any luck.

Give this map a try. Just rename the beta1 map to something else and fire up the game.  Let me know if there are any unintended problems.

Thanks Kit for the link to the map.  I kind of doubt I'll be able to do much updating, as it is I'm not totally sure where all the assets for the 41st elite mod are even located at the moment... some of it got moved over to the Empire vs Clones mod project ages ago but the rest seem to be missing in action.

What is the best version of the SWBF2 Kashyyyk map that has been ported to SWBF1?  Maybe I'll add a mission map as well when I do the official re-release and make it a bit more useful for people who don't just want to use it for global sides.

I just conducted a test and found out that the cis sides work, but not the REP.  Ugh, maybe I didn't find them both then. Just use the CIS one for now... I'll see if I can find a working REP lvl later tonight.  Oh well, you got half of the mod! :)  I tested out the CIS sides in the shipped Kashyyyk Docks map. Please report any further problems you find.

Reminder that the CIS sides are identical to the shipped sides (at least from what I remember) except for the sniper/assassin. He has a one-shot, one-kill weapon BUT can also be killed with one shot by enemy fire...

edit: Obviously Buckler, don't post the upload of the file to the normal uploads section yet. As well, this version is not an official release and is missing important stuff like the credits file and instructions.  Just hang on and I'll put something a bit better together.

oh, it says its gone already

??? I just clicked on the link and the download still seems to be there... anyone else having a problem?

Okay, I think I've found the missing 41st Elite sides... still couldn't find the DVD-R where I burned the original release but I did find the two LVLs in the global SIDE folder of my old SWBF1 install.  I've zipped them up and uploaded them to my hotfile account for those who want to grab it.

I'll do a more official release down the road and add some mission maps for the various Kashyyyk maps that have been ported from BF2, but this upload is just so Kit can kill some time with these sides.  Of course, just a reminder to back up your original REP and CIS LVL files, then rename the two files in my mod to be the new REP and CIS sides.  Should be simple enough....

heh, if hard drive space is what you need, I can arrange for one to be sent to you  ;)

Oh I think the real issue is that I need to get off my butt and go into my C: drive and start organizing and backing up the multitude of files that are sitting there (PVR recordings, 3d models, textures, random music, random videos, etc)  Having another hard drive really means I just transfer my disorganized mess of files elsewhere but they'd still be disorganized... better to have an excuse to sort them all at last and burn them onto DVD-R blanks. And then of course, forget to label those DVD-Rs, ensuring that none of that data is ever found by me again when I really need it, lol.

Yes Buckler just showed me a list of Sereja's maps, very nice I know I'll have to download them at some point and give them all a try.  Sadly I really don't play SWBF1 much, I only played my coruscant space map recently again after not touching SWBF for I think 6 or 7 months.  I still love the game, but man you know it is very easy to waste a lot of hours playing away and I really haven't been able to spare a lot of free time these last few years.

Anyway, I promise my priority will be to munge a version of the coruscant space map with the turrets firing only very, very little.  I think if I can clear off about 500mb more of free space on C:\ I can squeeze out a proper build. While I am not around much, Buckler does contact me every 6 months to keep me aware of some interesting developments on the BF1 scene (for which I am grateful) and I still want to someday release my EAG2 beta which has the pilotable Rancor, Acklay, chariot, etc. so look for that in... uhhhh, 2020?!? :P

Hey Kit, long time no talk... :)

I just saw your post... I don't think I ever found the DVD-R that I backed it up to. I'll see if I can look for it again over the weekend when I've got a bit more free time and will post it if I do manage to track it down.

I also haven't forgotten about your request to reduce the turret fire in my Coruscant space map, I made all the ODF changes ages ago but never actually freed up enough disk space to do a full build of the files.  Anyway, I'm slowly backing up some other files that are eating up a lot of space on C:\ so once I've got them backed up I can delete them and hopefully free up enough room to finally do a full munge.  I was just playing that space map a few nights ago, forgotten how much fun it was (although you can cheat pretty easily if you know what to do).

Did you install both maps into the addon folder?

With EAG, there are some folders that must be there - in this case, obviously the Coruscant Streets map has to be there, the mission map folder, and make sure you have the EAG map folder which has the actual sides (REP and CIS LVL) in addon too.   The safest thing to do is just to put all the EAG maps into addon if you can.

Unfortunately not at this time, if I ever do a beta2, I will make a note to release a version of the map that turns off the turrets or greatly reduces the fire rate.  It's a good observation, I should've thought of that.

Buckler, do you mind renaming this thread to "91st Assault Corps: The Battle of Coruscant, beta 1" instead of using the filename?  It would probably be a bit more descriptive that way.

On the DVD-R I found it's just my earlier JvC and Mustafar duel stuff, plus promo pics. Regarding the clone skins, I'm pretty sure a good chunk of them were just off the Gametoast assets forum.  There've been better (higher def) clone skins released since 2007 that would be likely better than what I was using back then... at least I hope that would be the case.
