Post by: {TcF}Dr.Penguin on March 09, 2012, 11:12:48 AM
I have a problem with BFbuilder should I create a new forum?

OK, first be sure you are using BFbuilder Pro.

Next, explain your problem.  Be sure to remind us what operating system you are using--windows 7, vista, XP.

I recently downloaded BFbuilder Pro, and BF builder, they both have the same issue.  After I open them this message appears:

An error has occurred in the script on this page

Line: 1962

Char: 5

Error Object excepted

Code: 0

URL: file///H:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Penguin/Desktop/BFBuilderProWIP030605/0%20BFBuilder%20Pro.hta

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

And has the options Yes and No buttons at the bottom.

I have a XP computer, and if I click YES it will keep popping up. I would really appreciate help.

OK, did you install it in this location:

C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder\

If not, try that first.

You should do what Led recommended and put it in C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder

The reason you get that error is because you keep placing BFBuilder in subdirectory with spaces in the path name.

Yes, having the same error indicates that you have not changed anything.  It looks like it is still on your desktop which is stored on drive H.

What should be in the file with it?

Everything.
It should look something like the screeshot below.

I made mine look like yours, my BFbuilder has a error "Line" Of 963 and my BFBuilder pro has a error "Line" of  1962. Is that important?

The lines themselves look harmless, but both should run without any errors.

The best way to be sure is to do a fresh install of BFBuilder into the C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder\ folder.

By fresh install, I mean clearing out the old and installing straight from the downloaded file.
Not installing on top of what's already there.

If you still get errors after a fresh install, then we know there is something else wrong.

(You wouldn't happen to be using 64 bit XP, perhaps?)

-after thought...
[spoiler]Typicly, once the mod tools are installed in the correct folder they should run.
The only requirements are that they are in a folder with no spaces in the name, anywhere, that Internet Explorer 5 or greater is installed on the machine, and that you have battlefront installed.

The no spaces, you have covered.
IE 5 is required so that the hta files can run properly.
ZeroEditor (The map editor) wants SWBF installed or it won't run.

Known issues:
I know that the dvd version of the game causes an issue, but there is a fix for that.
I seem to remember 64 bit XP being an issue, I don't know the fix for that.
I've read that Vista hates the mod tools. (Is this true?)

BFbuilder worked on my old vista 32bit but the maps wouldn't save (that could have been my lack of skill though :( ).

Still won't work, any way to fix my operating system?

I don't think your OS is the problem.  Let me see if I can find the rep.lvl builder and try it to see if that will work.
