Title: Munge request
Post by: Ryanoceros on March 03, 2009, 02:15:57 PM
Can someone please munge a sides mod I made?
If you are wondering what it is, I gave all the troops jetpacks with infinite fuel. And gave them all a bit more ammo, and changed the weapon selection a little. And tiny color changes to a few characters.
Thats all it is. But should be fun for game play.
Anyway, if someone can munge it for me I'll give you a mention in the read me file.
Thanks in advance!

If you're using BFBuilder Pro, you can import the sides into a mod, and they will munge. My MPM was made creating a new mod.

I'm an Apple user. So that won't work for me.
I can only change odf files directly then request a munge from a pc user... at least as far as I know.

Don't hta files work on a mac? They're just HTML files really, odd that they shouldn't work. Then again, they modify batch files used in Windows, I guess.

No, unfortunately Mac users are very limited in what they can do. I'm not sure of all the reasons why, but all attempts fail when trying to get the BFBuilder to work on Mac.
No matter, I managed to get my files munged. I've been testing it out all evening. I'll post it tomorrow for others to try out.

Even if you could get the hta files to work, you still need to deal with the fact that all of the munging programs are PC-only executables

I have Virtual PC. I don't fully understand why it can't work on that?
My swbf game is mac version. If the BFBuilder could just recognize my mac version, I could do all the other work in Virtual PC. Is that possible?

There is no reason to make VirtualPC recognize SWBF (I can do it, but I prefer not to) as even if you got it working there would be no difference. VirtualPC will never report the real graphics card. instead, it emulates it's own. unfortunately, this fake card can't handle ZeroEditor, which is the only thing that needs SWBF.

All of the munge tools should work under VirtualPC, as well as the hta files. try it out, and it should work. you just won't be able to map at all unless you install BootCamp

I've tried before, but it always spit out some error message. I'll try again and let you know what happens.
.. btw, how do I do it? Do I just drop the IDF files on the munge application icon?

If you can get the hta program to make the mod folder, you have all you need. If you want I can send you some pre-made folders. Just run munge.bat under windows and it should finish

I'm a bit confused. Which program is the hta program? .. BFBuilder says, "Need Star Wars Battlefront Loaded". and as I say I only have the mac version which isn't recognized. Is there a different program? .. btw, the zeroeditor says the same thing.
Do you have some instructions on all this? hta for dummies version :)

BFBuilder should NOT say it needs Star Wars Battlefront installed as far as I can remember although ZeroEditor does.

As Pi said, he could always send premade folders.
Also that reminds me, did we transfer Breakdown's Factions Guide?

Ok, cool, please send me some pre-made folders.

But then what, how do I do it.. is there some instructions posted somewhere on how to actually do it?

ok I'm creating the folders. Here's how I'm setting up

3 mods will be sent :Datarya# with # being 1-3

Each one will have the 4 major sides pre-setup. They are also named "Ryan's Map #[1-3]". To change the name, go to Datarya#/addme and open addme.lua. On the second line of text you should see the Map name (variable showstr). Feel free to change that however you want, but this has no affect on side mods, and mission maps take more work than I've set this up to.

Make sure the Datarya# folders are in the same directory level as DataMod1 and DataMod2 (basically under BFBuilder)

To compile the mod, go to Datarya# and double-click on munge.bat. After it is done, a notepad window should pop up with any errors that happened. Close that then type anything into the Command Prompt to finish the munge.

The mod lvls can be found in BFBuilder/AddOn/Datarya#/Data/_lvl_pc/Side, or you can go to BFBuilder/Datarya#/_LVL_PC/Side.

NOTE: The first time you munge will take significantly longer than most other munges, as it is doing EVERYTHING, including the map which you don't need. All of the models will be munged for the first time as well. After the first time, it should only munge things that have changed. I will not pre-compile for you as it is violating the EULA (distributing the original lvl files)

NOTE 2: All the major side lvl files will be made even if you didn't do anything with them. Just ignore the ones you didn't mess with.

This is for side mods only. If you want a mission map done send me a PM and I'll set up a special mission map for you since you. Just tell me what map you want to mission-ize, the short name (like maz1), and the title that appears on the map selection screen.

Excellent. I'm downloading now. Thanks!

... Once I get comfortable with it I'll try to do a mission map. :)

Well, I did a few changes to the odf files and munged it. But for some reason the sides don't work, the game crashes when I start it.
Any idea why that might happen?

.... Edit ....

Well, it appears that "some" of the munge worked. The color changes are there, but the weapons seem to be messed up. not all the weapons show in the character selection screen, and then the game crashes before I can start. Any ideas? It must be something in the code that is messed up. any tricks I need to know?

Did you try to give a character a weapon from another team? That could mess it up. If that's not the case, send me ONLY the ODF folders that you edited and I'll check it

EDIT: I just saw the other topic with the source.

Howdy,
Nah, I didn't use different weapons from other factions. The same as in the beta version that jedikiller munged successfully.

Yeah the source is posted in the other thread . Thanks for the help! :)
