Although JK, if I am remembering correctly aren't you UK Russel? In which case pretty much every school uses Windows, bar a few of the independent and academy schools, which use Macs.

The main reason being that with a limited budget, schools can't afford Macs, they are just not as cost effective as PC's, as the state education system over here is not based on the quality, but rather doing everything as cheaply as possible. I myself have given up using the PC's at school for my artwork, choosing to use my own at home.

And I couldn't put this any better than JK has:

Quote from: JedikillerThere is no reason for us to have a debate over this topic when there is absolutely nothing to debate over. Windows has a larger market share in almost every single industry or field than Macs do. That's all there is to it. It's a provable fact. Google has a larger market share in the search engine industry than any other. That doesn't mean the others don't exist, or aren't important, or aren't better. It just means that they aren't as popular.

I know that we all want to be rabid fanboys on this topic for some reason, because it really matters to the world which operating system we use. Nobody cares.

Hold your horses there my son. I would only recommend an Alienware if you've got the money. Which he obviously doesn't, and neither did I. Custom builds are easy to acquire from a variety of independant companies these days, and if you go with the right ones you get very good quality and service. Being UK I used one recommended, Arbico. But they don't do Stateside deliveries. Have a look around, and definitely compare prices, if you get confused come back and we can decipher the specs for you. After all, you want to get as much bang for your buck as the cliche goes.

Indeed. But telling him to buy a Mac mini is not answering his question

How about we all go back and read through the original post. He is looking to upgrade. NOT BUY A NEW COMPUTER. So I'm gonna have to say lets swing this back onto the actual topic, or this is gonna get closed.

If you read the copyright, technically even lending the game to someone is against the law, and distributing any files from the disc is also addressed as against the copyright.

I think you will find that is wrong. Only 64-bit OS's will recognise more than 3GB worth of RAM. 32-bit will not.

Yes, 2GB of decent speed RAM (I would say 800Mhz) is sufficient for pretty much all games out at the moment. No game requires 4GB of RAM in a basic 32bit system, seen as the computer doesn't recognise more than 3GB of RAM, thus defeating the purpose. Only reason I have 4GB is because it came as a free upgrade :)

I think you will struggle with the graphics upgrade, simply because AGP Cards aren't produced much anymore, therefore aren't totally up to standard.

Welcome to the forums. I'm not gonna lie.

No such thing exists as I know of. Such a program would be extremely complicated, either requiring the program to know the names of the files it is retexturing, or to just go for every .tga file in there (If I remember thats what SWBF uses anyway). Texturing normally involves someone physically doing it via a graphics program, and in a lot of cases photosourcing textures first.

What are you asking for though, you want retexturing software? Cos that doesn't get done in a couple of seconds, that takes a long time. Or are you trying to fix the messed up skin?

You need to make it more clear as to what you are looking for then. I am now officially perplexed.
