Thanks 411Remnant! :)

I have found a small issue related to multiplayer support. If someone tries to host a server with any of the following maps, it will crash:

Death Star
Felucia
Tantive IV

I don't know what it causes this. Interestingly, these three maps use stock game sounds added in a .sfx file, could it be related?

Thank you very much Led! ;)

General / Cannot upload in Downloads section

I'm trying to upload my Map Pack in the downloads section, but for some reason doesn't happen. I got the following error:

Quote"You need to enter a download title."

Any ideas why it doesn't upload? I entered the title as it says. If it helps, the file size is 255.5 MB.

I know a guy who is working on something related, I think he changed the FOV of vehicles.

If I wasted 14 hours of my life setting up virtual machines just to get bfbuilder to work it would be great to know.

I see you have issues with BFBuilder. Did you download the latest version? It is not usual to see someone use VM to run a simple editor...

I do not think multiplayer on steam will allow dedicated servers for the game, you may connect with other people by self hosting, but SWBFSpy remains the best alternative to host game servers for now.

e: Steam's way of solving the problem:

Not yet. But do not worry, they will take care not to disappoint the game's buyers...

Incredible, but it surprises me little. At last Disney has discovered SWBF (2004) and I can already assume that they'll take advantage of this with the Steam/GOG versions. In my opinion, good news to encourage Star Wars fans also to play the very first game.

Having said that, I suppose there will be included multiplayer support in the same version of Steam, I hope so. I don't think SWBFSpy is a viable alternative, you only need to check the number of players which have moved to the Steam/GOG servers in SWBF2 as proof of that. This is bad news for those who keep the original DVD version of the game (like me).

Finally, I hope there's language support. It is surprising how little they insist on implementing the rest of the languages having source files of the locolizations of SWBF1. Same for SWBF2.

I just uploaded a new Map Pack update in addition to updating the main thread. The novelties/improvements of version 1.2 are the following:

  • Sound effects/streams have been implemented in all maps, some of which are ripped of SWBF2 (thanks to Marth8880).
  • The Death Star path issue has been fixed.
  • The number of AI units has been increased in all maps in general.
  • Fixed an issue with the VOs configuration in CP capture/control events (apparently the names of the VO effects are not the same in the BF2 assets).

I must say that the Map Pack is quite good in this latest version and I think I won't continue working on it, so this is probably the final version. I've tried to fix some other issues but without success, I still appreciate all the feedback received since it was released.

Check the main thread to download it! ;)

It would be great if someday there's a remake of SWBF, although it's risky if you get a DMCA or something like that. It exists a remake of Super Mario 64 made with UE4 and I think the project is still underway without Nintendo giving them a warning... So I don't think it's the only one with same style.

Yes, although sometimes people play during the week.

I want to apologize for having devalued your review the other day, I thought it was a joke or indirect to the original BF and that's why I answered that. Oh, and nobody is perfect at ortography (I include myself). :P

Having said that, welcome! ;)

Great, it seems it worked when I saved the soundmunge.bat with the -stub line.

Thanks Giftheck! ;)
