SWBF2 Modding / Re: I can't gain access to Gametoast
November 12, 2015, 05:59:34 PM
I know this is an old topic, but I just wanted to remind everyone that I sent all IP addresses to Guru. I never heard back, so unfortunately it looks like everyone will have to keep using a proxy. Sorry guys.

Perfect. Here's a direct URL to Gametoast via proxy. Just bookmark this:

Speaking of Proxy servers (I still haven't heard anything solid from Guru), maybe anyone using a proxy can share how they're doing it so others can easily access Gametoast as well for now?

All,

I sent the IP whitelist requests to Guru, who is the server administrator. If you did not PM me with your IP and can't access Gametoast let me know. I have requests all the way back to May 2015 (Sareja's request) so he should be able to get everyone.

Please give it about a week and let me know if you still can't get access. Guru's a busy guy.

Yes, its a shame this game has never was completed, it looks half decent. You know somewhere sometime I found two whole hours of leaked gameplay, but I don't remember where.

All of the super-long video coverage can be found there. It's the same pre-alpha build so there are lots of graphical, animation, and framerate issues, but it's fun to see nonetheless.

Still no word from Guru, but I have to believe that if he had given up he would have just taken the site down entirely.

Thankfully there's no hosted files at Gametoast, but given how small the SWBF has become (though we're still strong) I'm concerned we'll lose too many people during the downtime.

Yep, Guru's aware. The corrupted hard drive messed up the system cache, certain write permissions, etc. The site cannot load because (among other things) it cannot write files to the temporary directory like it should. Odds are he'll probably go with an older backup (if he has one) of the database combined with a fresh install of PHPBB3. I haven't talked to him, but I did spend a while in the admin panel looking at the logs.

Hey gang, Teancum from Gametoast here.

Just passing along the accidental reveal of Star Wars: First Assault The box art was leaked, confirming it is at least coming to the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade. No other platforms (or information) is known.

I wrote up an editorial on it anyway. Check it out and leave a comment at XBLAFans.com

Quote from: Jedikiller on September 20, 2010, 08:11:32 PMLet's use the example of the Conversion Pack. I guarantee you that somebody has sent someone connected with the pack some money due to their gratefulness or whatever. Now, granted, it may never reach the actual developers of the project. However, this is still "accepting reimbursement for a game modification", because someone is getting paid for its creation.

FALSE - There would be only three entities which could have - Myself, Maveritchell, and Gametoast.com itself.  None of them have ever received money in regards to "gratefulness" or anything like it.  Mav and I have never received a dime, and Gametoast only gets extremely minimal donations each year from the same people who have always donated - even then that has nothing to do with the pack.  It has to do with keeping the site online, which is well within EULA rights as maintaining a site is not the same as making money on a mod.  Hosting a site that endorses paid mods would violate the EULA, however.

The reality is that it's against the EULA.  We're not MPCgamers staff, so we can't make the decision here, but Gametoast.com will not host any files found to be connected with money so we don't get into trouble, and for flat-out respect for the people who worked hard on the entire game, then on FREE mod tools for us to use.  I can't speak for sure on Maveritchell's part, but I think it's pretty safe to say SWBFFiles.com would treat this the same way.
