Three teenage girls killed in Halloween Fiesta in Madrid

The company informed the Madrid City Hall that the fiesta would be for 7,000, but there were 10,600 people in the Madrid Arena venue and 9,650 tickets were sold.Madrid Arena on Halloween night.


The municipal company, ‘Madrid Espacios y Congreos’, who owns the venue, has claimed that there was ‘no problems with the exits from the venue. They issued a statement to lament what had happened in the early hours of today when three girls died in the crush, and another two people were seriously hurt. One of the injured remains in hospital and is under age (Which now has died : This makes 4 Girls died : Cristina Arce de la Fuente (My friend), Katia, Belen and Rocio). Only those 18 or over should have ben allowed in the venue. The girls died from cardiac arrest (asphyxiated). It was private Halloween Party organised by the company Diviertt S.L. which had rented the venue.

Most of those who attended did not realise what had happened until they saw the media. Despite the tragedy the fiesta continued to 6.30am this morning. Management said this decision was taken so as not to generate panic.

Police said the setting of a flare could have caused the crush, and there is now an investigation into whether a security team failed.

The statement from the company continued, ‘we want to make it clear from the first moment, in the face of some information which is being distributed, that the lamentable event had taken place for reasons away from the infrastructure and the conditions and security of the venue’.

Madrid Espacios y Congresos also assured the Diviett company has said ‘there was no excessive capacity in the venue’.

However photographs put doubts on the claims, and videos recorded of some of the people inside and health workers who arrived at the scene said just how bad it was.

Despite all that Madrid City Hall has said there were no problems in the exits, nor was there an excess capacity in the venue.

There was a vigil the 31st of October, from 11pm to 2am (1st-Nov) (About 1 hour of silence honoring the victims)... The mother of Cristina said ''Five persons who died, for the greed of some people and the idleness of others.'' Now 1 year later, 5 Girls died and there is no guilty person inprisoned. And even we want justice, nobody is doing anything
