Some mad compilation of mods as well as hopefully some new maps, factions and graphical updates, wish me luck, I will need it.

Yeah, a month, not a whole lot of time, I have taken part in an Unreal Game Jam before, it can be stressful, in the meantime I will relax and try to get into making the assets I want to make for now and keep that as a side thought over the next few days.

If I can manage to make a map, I will start with the KotoR 2 Korriban map ahead of my own plans ( both for my own plans and for the competition ) it will definitely be for BF2

Sith Ghosts with Stealth and some form of explosive Mind Control animation should be relatively spooky :p but quite some work .

I love the idea now though, so very possible I might focus on this and let it lead my own plans.

However I have very little to no experience modding BF2 or making maps for it, so I really need to dive in if I want to make the competition, I will warn you though, chances are, I won't be able to make it in time.

Was thinking of using various sith characters, emperror, sith adept and such, giving them a transparent / red sith ghost like texture as well as the stealth power, from there it could have force lightning and a lightsaber for the jedi padawans, if the mind control vs force block ended up being a little difficult to enact.

Definitely achievable in a 35 day time limit, seeing as all the assets I need are pretty much already there, just need to make a custom side and some textures and maybe a custom map to go with it.

Thank you all for the swift welcome into the community.

Something the introductory message asked me to do was let everyone know what games I played and what sort of machine I am running.

Currently I don't really play much, I have found gaming has changed too much in recent years and that many games coming out do not peak my interest, the new Battlefront included.

But here are some games I do play
Rocket League
Subnautica - Just a shame they gave up on even thinking about adding multiplayer
Goldeneye Source
Call of Duty 4 : Galactic Warfare Mod I recently downloaded this alongside loads of mods for BF2 because I wanted to try it out also.

And of course
Battlefront 2

I use to play Star Wars The Old Republic, but I kind of got addicted to it which some what caused me to become homeless.

I recently reinstalled it, made 9 million credits, got bored, realised I couldn't spend them and then uninstalled it.

I am also running quite a powerful computer, at least, good enough for me.
Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHZ
16GB's RAM
2 x Nvidia GeForce GTX 750TI
Sound Card & Blu-Ray Drive, not that they really matter.
I also have a triple boot installation of Windows 7, Mac OSX Snow Leopard & Ubuntu, split across two solid state hard drives, one for Mac & Linux and one for Windows.

Again not really details anyone needs to know, the only reason the introductory message might tell me to do so is incase I have a problem and anyone needs to know my specs but hey ho, here I am, bored and typing away.

I must spare myself some time to actually sit down and follow these youtube tutorials on making a map.

Hmm "Spooky" or "Halloween Related"

I am not really a Halloween person :p

If I can manage it alongside or ahead of what I am already planning I might try to do some kind of "Spooky" map themed around Sith Ghosts and Jedi Padawan in Training, could be cool.

I definitely plan to try and port the Korriban map from KotoR 1 & 2 into BF2.

I think they could make for some awesome maps with a bit of work.

Already had plans for Taris Upper, Lower, Middle, Cantina & Apartments, Sewers too now I think about it.

Battlefront 1/2
KotoR 1/2
And Republic Commando, which never got the sequel it deserved.

Some of my favourite games of all time and now a way to combine them :o and potentially spend my time sat around being creative again making content for people to enjoy :D I hope I can get into this and not lose interest like I do with a lot of things :p

Battlefront II needs bringing to the forefront, show EA/Dice where to stick there new Battlefront II :p

^ _ ^

:moo:

P.S: A question if anyone might know the answer, does anybody know how to edit the .profile files for BF2?
I obtained the completed profile from moddb, but it is just named Player 1, I was hoping to find out how to edit the name and allow others to do so too.

SWBF1 Modding / Re: Halloween Modding Competition
September 25, 2017, 11:44:11 AM
A darn shame this is BF1, you had me interested and I even came up with a concept to go alongside the Mod/Maps/Factions I already want to create / add to BF2... :(

Halloween Contest Concept
KotoR Korriban Sith Temple Map
Custom Side Sith Ghosts vs Jedi Padawan in Training
No Weapons only Force Powers
Force Deflect vs Mind Control

First Idea

One Jedi Base – Can't Be Captured
Top of the stairs / entrance to the temple.
Various Sith Spawn points, the Sith camera would show you the interior of the temple and allow you to pick a spawn location and a ghost class with a specific sound or look to scare your enemies.

Second Idea

Korriban Sith Temple
Include Courtyard Entrance
Four Temples & Ebon Hawk Landing Easter Egg ie KotoR 2 Return to Korriban

Both based on Korriban from KotoR 1 / 2

The idea is there anyway, but I am definitely the sort of person to shelve the idea :( especially now I see this is a BF1 contest.

But at the least I have written it alongside the rest of my documentation and ideas for compiling a massive 2017 mod pack hopefully with the help of many people from swbfgamers ^ _ ^

Interesting, though I would guess that needs to be Halloween related? Or just have a scary setup?

I may be interested, but we will have to wait and see as I have a lot to figure out as it is before I run off making some over the top scary star wars themed mission with scary bottom sith ghosts popping out at you or something :p

Already got a pitch now I think about it though, that would go alongside my overall collection idea perfectly...

Korriban : Sith Temple
Halloween Special
Explore the Sith Temple from Korriban ( KotoR ) as a Jedi Padawan, use your force powers to deflect ghost mind control from Sith Spirits...

I think too much, you got me thinking, that could be cool.... now I just need to jump into making maps xD not feeling it right this second, worked with Unreal4 a fair bit, but long story short have only been back on a computer about 6 months after a year of being homeless, being away from a computer so long, I feel very lost trying to be creative or find myself something to work on anymore.

Thanks for the heads up, if I can bolster myself to be ready in time, I may very well enter with that concept or a similar such one :D

No rush on the reply, some great work you have been putting in, cannot wait to see what becomes of it all.

Perhaps if I can contribute, these changes could become part and parcel with your updated mod.

That of course would be down to you, I will actually sit down and wrap my head around the tools in the next few days.

Is it just you or do you have a small team working on your update / mod?

Thanks again for everyones time and work to make all of these thoughts a possibility, as well as keeping the community alive, when I started looking into it, I was very surprised to see such an active Battlefront II modding community as well as mods released in recent times.

Thank you for the welcome and all the work you and any members of your community have put in to make this game great again!

I look forward to playing lots more Battlefront 2, definitely use to be one of my favourite games of all time, I use to play it online endlessly.

With mods, new maps and enhanced graphics, it is just astounding.

As you may have seen me mention in my other posts, I am looking to modify many of the maps / modifications around into one, flawless package of factions, maps and enhanced graphics.

I have compiled all of the mods I am using into a step by step compiled of the original files and mods so far.

Just need to learn how to tinker with some of them, unpack or repack lvl files, learn my way around the engine and its tools and generally just learn a bit.

My main focus, is to combine Evolved and the Cockpits View mod, perhaps adding a few specifics from the BF3 beta, such as the Droideka model and the Magna Guard.

Yeah, thought as much, sorry, has anyone or would there be interest in porting them to SWBF2?
I didn't see it noted anywhere and the forum section was for BF1 & BF2 so I was unsure, I missed a comment on the second page that noted it or mentioned that it was SWBF1.

I have a feeling it may be because I have lot's of maps and mods installed, but I can not get any of these maps to work, I have tried adding them all and tried adding them one by one, either the names do not stand out to me in the list / I am completely blind or they conflict with some of the maps I already have.

Any thoughts on why? The mission limit counter does not show up and it is not that because I have kept away from Dark Times & other mods that have excessive amounts of missions as well as tried to keep away from maps that do not look very good.

From what I have seen these maps are really nice and the Korriban / Nar Shaddaa maps look like they contain assets from KotoR or are modelled after, if so, awesome and cannot wait to have them working.

I will try removing other mods and adding these in to see if they show up.

Would I be allowed to use these maps, when I get them working as part of a map / mod pack I want to create? if you look around you might see my welcome post and my request for help post, I am looking to update some of the older mods and make a combination package / update for a group of friends, as well as anyone online that may be interested.

Thank you for uploading, sorry for the long / late message / bump.

I get the feeling now I have posted that these maps are for Battlefront and not Battlefront II hence why they aren't working, can't find any details though. Not entirely sure.

Tried removing all the installed mods anyway, just incase.

If they are Battlefront 1 maps, has anybody ported them? again if not, would I be allowed to do so?

Thank you.

Having just joined, already made a topic and viewed the intro message, I felt I should do this part.

Hi there, I am Thor110.

Found this site looking for the best BFII mods, patches and maps.

Currently looking to create a mod package for BFII updating some old mods and adding some new features.

Seeking assistance towards doing so.

I studied Game Design and have worked with Unreal 2, 3 & .

Hoping the community can give me a helping hand, so I can avoid the long learning curve and if possible make a few changes that some people would already know how to make to the game in their sleep.

Thank You for reading.

SWBF2 Modding / Combining Mods & RePackaging New Factions
September 25, 2017, 06:00:07 AM
Hi there

I am looking for anyone who might be interested in helping me start a few mods for Battlefront II as well as modify some current mods for the game.

The main thing I wanted to do was to combine the BF1 cockpit view mod with the Evolved Graphics mod as well as potentially using some of the Battlefront III Beta Assets.

I was also hoping to replace the Medical & Gonk droids in each map with the updated models from the Battlefront III Beta Maps.

As well as, as many other assets as possible, to be updated, replaced or combined.

One example being The Sith Lords II a faction / mod that works with all the Battlefront II maps, but counts towards the Mission Limit Counter as 0 missions.

I was hoping to take this effect and duplicate it into other faction mods.

Mod Pack's are often things I do for friends and people, the hardest part is always getting permission to use the mod, touching things up, getting access to source code and so on.

I would also like to take the new vehicles from one of the updated map / graphic packs and port them in to all of the other maps.

I realise this may be a lengthy project / process, but these are often things I undertake for myself and friends.

Thank you for any advice, help, links or thoughts on the idea.

Any criticism, constructive or otherwise welcome.

Thor110

Edit :

Republic Commando Mod : Compare and convert to a 0 mission Faction like The Sith Lords II
Prosecutor Map : Add other Factions and remove Dark Times
All Maps : Update Medical & Ammo Droids
Space Maps : Update Space Vehicle Models
Land Maps : Update Land Vehicle Models

All Maps : Port any rezzed textures to other maps that might work or are the same, as well as create new textures for some or all of the maps.

All Factions : Update Models & Textures : Pick a selection of the best models and textures from various faction mods and combine into one update.

Battlefront III Beta VS Evolved Assets
Battlefront III Droideka is much better looking
Evolved Super Battle Droid is my preferred model
Most of Evolved models are better
But the .lvl files they replace are also modified in the BF1 Cockpit View Mod, so I am looking to learn how to unpack and repack .lvl files for mods.

Combining them into one and adding faction compatibility to all or any maps relevant to the faction.

Again thank you for reading my super long post, I hope I can spark some interest as, even if it is just for me and friends I would enjoy both putting this together and sharing it if possible.

I took a 2 year course in Game Design and have worked with Unreal 2, 3 & 4, as well as various other game engines, experience with Maya & Photoshop etc, most of the basic skills I will need.

There is a tutorial video serious on youtube for creating a Mod for Battlefront II I will be following that in the next few days as well as reading up any other information I can find, but it seems that a lot of PDF tutorials and relevant information is no longer around on the internet, including many a Mod & Map seem to be no longer obtainable.

I absolutely love restoring old games to their former glory and know how much work has gone into making it possible from the community, I also know many people who, would still struggle to install a mod if I showed them how to do so every step of the way.

Hoping to combine all relevant patches and mods into one file / update for people, kind of like Battlefront II Ultimate Edition, but that is some wierd Russian mod package, I think it's fake too, didn't work for me, was detected as a virus and prevented from running before Instant Action, but that could just be AVG behaving the way it does.

That package also does not include the online patch from you guys, it also includes some awful maps and mods :p

Update :

I also thought best to post here rather than to start an actual mod topic until I know what I am doing with the mod tools and have played around making a few maps.

While gathering as much information as I can, my first aim is to create a set of four / five maps for the KotoR faction from the Conversion Pack.

Provided I manage, the maps will be of Taris from KotoR, Upper, Middle, Lower, Cantina and Apartments are the maps I was thinking of creating.

As well as hopefully lots more provided I can rally a bit of support and help along the way.

I will be reaching out to SWBFGamers, Gametoast and ModDB, especially CdtFox from ModDB as he is working on a mod for updated graphics and factions also, so hoping to team up with some people and get involved.

Wish me luck and feel free to drop suggestions, fire questions and offer advice.

My starting point / entry to this, will be learning how to view and edit maps for Battlefront 1 & 2, so that I can port the Gogo12 or Ginev Best Maps Pack from Battlefront 1 to Battlefront 2.

Thank You

Last Thing

Was also hoping to create and add a KotoR Mandalorian Faction to face off against the other two KotoR factions from the Conversion Pack.

So much in mind, often little will get done, but the ideas are there, all I need is somebody to guide me through the process so I can start tearing apart the files and creating maps / assets, I have the time, the skill and the desire to make this happen as do many here I am sure, but as many of you will know, learning your way into creating assets for a new engine or modding a new game can often be tricky.

I will sort these comments out sooner or later... :/
