Ye olde days of the Mac vs. PC days are making a return! The PCs vs the Macs in an all out war to see which side has the better players.

In previous years, the PC side did not have enough people to achieve a victory! At times, only a few dared show their face against the might of the assembled Mac players. These brave souls fought, but obviously they did not prevail.

Despite these crushing losses, the PC side has reawakened on MPCGamers! They are now represented well in the ranks, and it is time for the first battle to determine the true masters of SWBF.

All right! Looks like we have a pretty good lineup so far. Just two more days, guys!

Well it's unfortunate, but I have a maybe 5% chance of actually attending this. My computer's fan decided to give out this last week, so SWBF cannot run effectively. I will be taking in my computer tomorrow or Saturday, (ONCE MORE) and thus I will have to regrettably miss the rebirth of the Platform Wars.

I was a tad unsure about showng up (possible trip) but turns out I am leaving Sunday so im good!

Hi everyone,

I am getting the server setup today for the weekend.  It will be served at 30 frame per second, so make sure your graphics are set to handle the load.  I will have a server set up through work (the one  I used for the weekend DC's a while back) and I can use my home server if needed.

The server IP will be 130.160.60.47.  It will be active after 6:00 pm eastern time Friday Night.  Feel free to go on and practice before the match.  I am using Kamino as a buffer map.

At the start of the match time, players will capture CP's on the existing maps as Empire or Clones, and advance the map list to Kamino. We will go over any rules, etc. at that time.  The match will then commence, as directed by Jedikiller.

Please note that the first map in the match may not be Cloud City, since I am opening the server early so that players can check graphics setting, check their ping, and practice.  Whatever map come first, we will start at that point and loop back through the progression according to the list below. 

You may want to write down the list so that you know what side you are on.

In case of server failure, check the MPCgamers shout box for the alternate IP address.


The server settings I will use are: 
-team damage on
-30 ticks or frames per second
-choose your side
-no spawn protect
-I will make a maximum of 20 players



Kamino:  buffer map, make rules clear.

Cloud City GCW:  Macs Empire
Cloud City GCW:  PC's Empire

The Maze CW:  Macs  CIS
The Maze CW:  PC's CIS

Kamino:  buffer map, refreshment break

Death Star Interior GCW: PC's Empire

Also in the case of a server failure I can host, it will take me prolly 10 mins to Port forward but after that I will have the fastest Upload and Download here....

In the case of a server failure since the Shoutbox has been removed, as I stated before I most likely have the fastest server other then Buckler, so in the case of it failing today, I will post here with IP and the rest of the maps being played and then rehost. After this post wait 3 minutes and join, it will start on Kamino as a BUFFER MAP (And I will NOT answer questions of whether or not it is a buffer map) then once JK is in, he will announce the start.

Of course lets hope this doesn't happen but just putting it out in case.

MPC Platform Wars are open to anyone Mac or PC, the only chance around it is if you do not join in time and the server is full.

We may get some PLA's on the PC side to show up, and maybe even Striker (the best PC
player that I know of) so bring your best MAC's  ;)

PS.  try to get GDA artworks to play  :P

Oh, and I think I made the server hold up to 24, just in case

I will almost definitely NOT be there for the Macs, but I will try.

Was very very close.... On Dea2, PC only had 7 reinfs left....


Now My complaints: Last jabba there were almost double PC then mac, and nothing was done, yet in the begging that happened to PC's and Macs accomodated and changed teams this si not right, so in the future there will be NO TEAM SWAPPING FOR ANY GAMES I HOST. THats just me but I hope others do the same!

Now only reason I care is that if we had even teams on that last map the game may have still been going and mac's COULD have won.

Thanks Buckler for hosting a tad laggy at times but otherwise amazing thank you so much! It was really great to see the turnout lots of people came so was very fun! Like I said woulda been better if last map had been even but w/e.

The teams were PC vs. Mac. The only person who swapped, I believe, was Tomas, and he dual boots, so it wasn't really a specific side for him. He changed back in the end, however.

In the future, we will be using smaller maps and/or start later.

You had the exact same complaint when macs were going to PC

also, what was near the beginning, and the swap didn't happen until the next map. This, however, was after PCs secured a win and macs forfeited the next round

Their is nothing wrong with Tom choosing what side he wants to play on, the rules state that you play for what platform you run, he runs both, he gets a choice- it was his thought to make it more fair so he changed teams at times, when it went unfair the other way, he changed back to Mac.

I don't see you their for the last map when it was (unfair) the match wasn't made to be fair, it was made to be Mac vs PC, if 20 had shown up for mac and 4 for PC thats it, we would have played like that, Point is, its a "war".


Congratulations to the PC side, they fought well from the looks of the screenshots, It looked like a great turn out, The Mac's will rise again... :nod:

Congratz PCs, seemed like a lot of fun, and a lot of players involved. I was rooting for the macs though, what happened guys? :confused:

We clobbered them on CC, but after Striker showed up we started going to the pits. Later on the sides were more even and MF and I kept on having to leave for periods of time reducing the number of Mac players by 2. Striker was complete annihilation though, I think a combo of him, Tomaszl, Droidy and JK were a big reason the Mac's got beaten. I don't know about the last 2 Armchair stuff. I know though that when MF and I left the final maz1 we were winning. :( We had 4 cps and more reinforcements than the PCs. So, us leaving (IMHO) contributed to us losing that map.

Congratz again though to the PCs for a well played game. Very fun. :)

Thanks for hosting (Buckler/LED) and for organizing (JediKiller). That was a blast. Teams were pretty even, all the games were close at least closer than the final 6 – 2 score. And it was fun playing against some different players.

Yeah, it was pretty fun! I think that's the most I've seen turn out for a tournament in a long while.

I plan to have another before the end of August (and I have to go back to school :( ), so maybe I can work on promoting that better.

Epic match was epic. It was fun getting back to BF1.  Although the mines were a bit annoying.  :shrug:
