SWBF1 Modding / CONTEST; Skin Raka's Face!

Some of you have probably been following my Raka's quest topic, and now I thought I'd open the design up to the community a bit.

This contest will be for people to design Raka's face (the main character in the Quest map)

Your welcome to do whatever you want with it, but it must be a skin over THIS IMAGE: http://img31.imageshack.us/i/rebelface01.jpg/

Do your best to create something unique! The contest deadline will be Friday the 17th, after that, me and YJJ will look over the entrys and decide the winner, which will be used for Raka's face in the map!

So artists, pick up your design tools and have fun! remember to get it in before next friday

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...

Jedi knight Olos and his guardian, Raka. Veterans of the clone wars.  Raka was assigned to protect the Jedi, Olos during the Clone Wars, and since, they have become good friends. After Order 66 was initiated, Raka swore he would continue to protect Olos with his life, and that no imperials would lay their hands on him. Raka and Olos travelled the galaxy, undetected from the empire. Soon, news of a Rebellion  reached Raka and Olos, and they decided to join the Alliance and fight for the galaxy.

Tatooine Galactic Civil War

Raka and Olos are travelling through the Outer Rim terretories, when suddenly, an Imperial star destroyer appears above Tatooine. TIE fighters are launched, and the two are forced to fight them off, though the resistance was broken through, and Raka and Olos were shot down and sent pummeling into the Tatooine surface.


Raka crawls from the wreckage, coughing smoke and sliding across blades of twisted metal. Much to his surprise, his comlink had connection, and quickly he alerted for help from the Alliance.

"Are you injured sir?"
"No, I'm fine..I don't know about the others.."
"Others?"
"A jedi and a droid."
"Do you have a location you could give me?"
"Tatooine desert. Canyons. I can't see anything else."
"Roger. We will not be able to send you any help, however, there may be an Imperial outpost nearby. If you can make it there, stay undetected. Attempt to find a small fighter, if you can, there is a Rebel cruiser above the surface in your area, judging by your description the canyons. Be careful sir."
The comlink died out.

Raka turned to the wreckage.

Singeplayer:

Olos's cloak billowed in the wind and smoke, clinging to the gnarled body of the ship. There was no body. The droid was on it's side at middle of the wreckage, it gave two whispering beeps, and then shut down. Raka stared at the wreckage grimly.

Olos has become one of the force now. I must do this alone.

And Raka set off through the dangerous deserts of Tatooine, searching for the imperial outpost.

Multiplayer:

Olos lay down near what used to be the front end of the ship. Ash covered his face and blood trickled from his nose. However, he was breathing. His lightsabre was still attatched to his belt, undamaged. The droid was in the middle of the wreckage, beeping ad chirping. It had a few scratches and dents but nothing serious that Raka could see.

Raka looked to the west. His eyes widened. There was an imperial troop heading towards the wreckage to investigate. Hurriedly,  Raka went to wake Olos...

So, here it is, the official announcement of (I think) the first SWBF1 RPG style/Quest map! This is being made by me and YJJ (he is doing a brilliant job on reskins and models), and progress so far is I'd say  around 60 percent.

Basically, the idea is to travel the desert to capture and destroy checkpoints, overcoming challenges (such as deep ravines as seen in the pic, or freeing rebel prisoners) and destroying enemies. I can guarantee you your journey from the crashed ship all the way into the imperial outpost will not be easy,I am making sure this will be difficult to play, but fun all at the same time

Even so, this is very early stages,  just remember that when viewing the screenshots...

I will update this probably every day with new pictures of the map coming along! I have no set deadline in mind, but I am hoping for the end of the month, though it depends on stuff like when YJJ's computer will be fixed and any bugs I may overcome.

Other Games / Favourite TF2 Custom Map

Title explains it all.

There are lots of custom TF2 maps, what's your favourite??

At the moment, mine is Balloon Race, there is a server that plays it all the time, it's really fun when you get the hang of it

I also really liked ctf_vikings, but the server that played it 24/7 isn't around anymore, so yeah...

And of course, gotta love the achievment servers xD

SWBF1 Modding / Teleporters

Hi guys

I know this probably isn't the best place to ask (we don't have many modders), but do you think teleporters are posible to make in SWBF1? I've seen it in SWBF2, but I can't think of anything how it could work in SWBF1.

SWBF1 Modding / Changes to SWBF Standard Maps

First things first, I know this was posted before, but HC said I could do this..

What are some changes you would like seen to SWBF standard maps??

I'd most likely want to hear changes relating to improving gameplay and overall fun factor, this could include moving objects around on certain maps and even deleting objects or adding CP's etc.

This will help a lot, thanks

Are you sick of them?

Honestly, I am getting VERY tired of going on sites like GT or other places like SWBFFiles, looking at SWBF2 or even SWBF1 maps/W.I.P.'s  and all I see is:

"INCLUDES 193TH LEGION TROOPERS!!"
"EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE CLONE WARS"
"FEATURING JEDI, NAD 501ST LEGION"

It's just getting boring, of course, I AM a bit biased, because I really enjoy Napseeker's mods, and they include clone legions, but in my opinion, he does them in a sensible way, he doesn't make them overpowered, but makes them very fun to play as.

I'd really like to see GCW get some love, because I am a bit tired of clone wars rubbish, this is however my opinion, what is yours?


(Also, I supposed I could mention that I will confirm "SWBF: The GCW", as seen in the screenshots topic, will be a big mod based off the GCW, just because of my furstrations with CW)

This is not ment todiscourage people from creating Clone Wars stuff, because I admit, I have fun with CW stuff from the old maps and mods for SWBF, it's just now the big wave of legion mods is boring me.

(Please don't stop making big CW mods Nap! :P)

So here's the early alpha version of the Zombie Mod, nothing much, just the basic idea, I will be continuously updating this.

SWBF1 Modding / Zombie Mod Ideas

Hi all!

I am in the process of making a zombie mod (just because they're that cool :P), and I was wondering if any of you had any ideas for sides? Sombie side specifically.

If you have any ideas for weapons, skins, etc. post 'em here!

Also, if you are willing to help in the developement of this mod, shout out and I can see what you can do!

SWBF1 Modding / Single Player Enhancements

Alright..

So. SWBF's MP side (at least for PC) is dwindling down and down every day. Soon, perhaps, Multiplayer will be unsupported completely. And then all we will be left with is SP mode! Singleplayer can get quite repetetive after a while.. I do admit, so why don't we enchance it??

There are probably games from the 90's that people still play because of the Singleplayer replay value, MOST people play SWBF for it's MP. So how about we give SWBF Singleplayer some changes?? Then perhaps it can be around a bit longer, even without multiplayer.

Now, I am not saying I will completely do a big expansion mod, heck, I'd lose interest in that within a few days, I just want to know one thing:

What would you like to see in SWBF's SP mode?? (That can be done by modders with the limited abilities we have)

New Galactic Conquests? New Campaigns? "New game modes"? Write them down here! In the future I might want to consider assembling a team of the most experienced modders to try to accomplish a few of these ideas.

I think that the 1.4 Update project was doing something similar to this, but things have been much quiet for it, and by the looks of the forums for it, I think it is in a dormant state

If 1.4 is still a go, I'd be willing to implement these ideas into the update, only if they were proven to be possible before-hand.

So, yeah!

Hey! Here's the 1.0 release of Woods: Search and Destroy.

There a few significant change, as listed in the ReadMe below;

Woods: Search and Destroy 1.0

Thanks for downloading Woods: Search and Destroy 1.0!

To install: place wsad1 in your AddOn folder.

This map was made as a experiment to try and create a new "game mode" for SWBF.
OF course, it isn't true to usual Search and Destroys found in games, rather
it is my own twist on it.

Travel through the woods, find the enemies cargo and destroy!


Each team has two units with the same weapons:

Defense Soldier

Rifle
Sniper Rifle
Fusion Cutter (to heal cargo)
Mines (to protect the cargo)

Demolitions Soldier (to destroy the cargo)

Rocket Launcher
Pistol
Thermal Detonators
Time Bombs

Fixes/New stuff:

- Each team now has 2 cargos, the neutral CP has been removed,
well actually, it's still there, but way out of playing area
and only tto prevent crashing

- More hills (lol)

- The Demolitions soldier now has a pistol instead of missile launcher
this is so the defense/demolitions would have to work together to destroy
the cargo, ie; the defense soldier defends the demolitions with its
infantry weapons while the demolitions destroys the cargo

- A few more props, nothing significant

- Rebel Demolitions rocket launcher ammo decreased

- A small bit of localisation on the spawn screen

- Reinforcement bleed (sort of serves as a count down)
once both cargos are destroyed on IMP/REB then IMP/REB's
reinforcements bleed really fast until about 7-12, from there on
you just have to kill the rest of the bots or whatever

- Cargo health increased

- Speed increased on all units

- Minor balancing stuff


Bugs:

- There is a big black box in the sky where the sun is..no idea
how to fix it, doesn't affect gameplay much so I probably won't fix

- The ground texture loos pixelated

- The AI isn't very intelligent. (They never are anyway)

Oh yeah, post all comments and suggestions here, it'll be very helpful. just don't say anything about the AI's intelligence, because they are really dumb and I've honestly tried lots of htings, even redoing the planning a few times but they just seem to always charge certain CP's and leave others with minimal defense. That's probably why this would be better in MP.

SWBF1 Modding / How do you add vehicles?

Yeah.

This was one of the only things I never learned while modding.

Can somebody give me a step by step instruction how to add vehicles to a map? It'd be great help. Thanks

(By the way, before posting this, i treid many times but the vvehicles never show up/I sometimes have some scriptmunge error)

I am really doubting SWBF is dead.

Of the last 10 files submitted, 6(!) are for SWBF1.

That trailer for "Ord Mantell: The Forgotten Groves" looks really nice...I'm getting some inspiration

I think it's safe to say the SWBF Modding Community is alive and well. :) Though a lot of the stuff submitted to SWBFFiles for SWBF1 isn't great quality, it's still nice. Hear hear?

(Oh and by the way, is anyone else annoyed by "GoldenLeader" ? ALL his comments on the SWBF1 map released are "OMG MAKE THIS FOR BF2!" or something..I am getting QUITE annoyed...)

SWBF1 Modding / Mandalorian Wars Mod

I'm back...

Also, I am here to announce a new mod currently in progress: The Mandalorian Wars Mod

The mod includes:
- All new factions: old Republic and Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders
- New Weapons
- Dxun Moon Map (later on)
- Other stuff

Thanks to Caleb1117 and Gogie for the Neo-Crusader though I am a tad suspicious the texture is ported.. I will be attempting to make my own Old Republic skins, since almost all the assets for them look ported, and I try to avoid using illegaly ported stuff like that. (NOTE: If someone could find me Mandalorians/Old Republic Troopers that don't look ported, please inform)

All the layouts are finished, however I would like to present you with screenshots before I announce the layout.

One of my main objectives for this mod/map is balance, my units are TF2 inspired, which is a very well balanced game.

The map Dxun Moon will be made after the units completion and tweaking and full testing, Dxun is a jungle moon of onderon and a primary battlefield in the Mandalorian Wars.

Hey MPC,

I got Team Fortress 2 (TF2) about 2-3 weeks ago, I find it really fun :)

My favourite class is probably the engineer, though the game is so balanced it's hard to decide, depends on the map

My favourite custom map is Vikings Final CTF (I think that's the name), if one of you want to check it out with me one time ask on Steam
