Thanks for a great list Commander Awesome.  A few other things I would like in the game:

1. Tauntauns on the Hoth maps.

2. Speeder bikes on the Jakku maps.

3. The ability to kill Ewoks on the Endor maps.  Yes they're cute, but I hate the little  :censored:      :)

After about 40 hours of playing, I realized that I had dug myself into a fairly deep hole, with a K/D of 0.38.  I blame this on a love of the Walker Assault maps, eschewing of vehicle and hero powerups, a focus on team objectives over self-preservation, and an admittedly vast number of unfortunate decisions.

Also, in moments of panic I tend to hit two adjacent PC keys, simultaneously triggering both my jetpack and a grenade.
I then travel comically on the same arc as the grenade, which explodes and kills me upon landing. This happens a lot.

However, through several weeks of careful game management and unashamedly blatant self-interest, I have finally attained a win ratio of 50% and K/D of 1.0. So let it now be known to the world - that I have striven for mediocrity and achieved it!

The homing shot and the bowcaster needed downward adjustment, but I bemoan the loss of my beloved DL44.  Was it really overpowered?  Yes, but that's why I liked it.  My gameplay was based around getting close enough to a player where I could deliver two quick shots to the head (in a kind and loving manner).  Oh well.

I love the Emotes, though I only see them used waiting for matchplay to start.  I also like the flying ragdoll when a player dies while using a jetpack.

If there was one thing I could change in the Dice game, it would be that the Homing Shot would act like a boomerang, so that when a missile missed its intended target it would reverse course, tracking back and then hitting the shooter, setting him/her on fire resulting in a slow painful death.  I would pay extra for that.   ;)

Now the original SWBF1 had plenty of problems out of the gate.  When I started playing in January 2005 the game was rife with teamkillers and wallhackers, not to mention teamkilling wallhackers.  And the verbal abuse of female gamers was appalling.  Clans had to constantly monitor their servers to boot the ne'er do wells.  So the absence of those annoyances in the Dice game is welcomed by me.

But while I enjoy the new game, I don't have "fun" playing it like I did SWBF1.  Where are the easter eggs?  Where can I put mines on Jabba to make them look like man-teats?  Where is the Rancor?   Where are the pigs with axes?  The chat window in SWBF1 allowed a social aspect of the game that is missing in the Dice version and I miss the witticisms expressed there.  SWBF1 lasted for 10 years and I doubt the the Dice version will be around in 2025.

Let's recap one of my recent games:

1.  Tracked by homing shot, used jetpack to escape.
2.  Orbital strike, no jetpack to get away, killed.
3.  Spawn, killed by idiot with a pulse cannon.
4.  Spawn, killed by A-Wing.
5.  Spawn, chased and killed by Luke Skywalker.
6.  Spawn, killed by same idiot with a pulse cannon.
7.  Spawn, run towards enemy, killed by Turbo Laser from across the map.
8.  Spawn, shot in back by enemy behind me.

So 7 deaths in row without having fired a shot.  I soooo wish the homing shot, pulse cannon and bowcaster would go away.  But most of all I hate the Heros.  Unless they are low on health you have no chance of beating them and no chance of escaping.  At least in SWBF1 the Heros didn't have superior speed and most servers disabled them.  I'm not saying there has to be even chance between opposing players, just that each player should have SOME chance of prevailing.

The air battles are certainly a major disappointment.  I actively avoid the air vehicle powerups as I'll get shot down before helping my team in any way.  I keep the Ion Torpedo in my hand and fire them at air vehicles on my way to battle,   occasionally taking one down but mainly to them from strafing the battlefield.

I had the same experience, early in the morning, couldn't find a multiplayer match.

For the Endor maps, yea the Rebels are hard to see.  I load up with a pistol and use a hand with the Scan pulse.

Playing for a week now and finally getting the hang of it.  Overall, for the type of game the designers intended to produce they've done a wonderful job.  A few things that could be improved:

1.  As was said previously, the lack of player classes.  Sometimes in games I like to be a medic and run around helping people.  Perhaps medicine could be added as a primary weapon and you could "shoot" teammates with it, restoring them to full health.  As it is now injured players "heal" themselves rather quickly.

2.  Where can see the ping of all the players?  I suspect that using wifi to connect to my router is causing latency issues, a huge disadvantage in a pew-pew-pew-die game.  I'd like to be sure before fishtaping cat-5e cable through my walls.

3. As was also said in the original post, I often can't tell who or even if I killed someone if I die concurrently.  The "who killed me" display covers up the "who-killed-who" scroll.

4.  The snow-speeder controls are abysmal.  The left-right keys should bank the speeder, not slide it sideways.  And the tow-cable wrapping mechanism of sliding the mouse up and down is just urine poor.  In SWBF1 and Rogue Squadron it took some skill to take down a Walker, and you could shoot enemies while doing it.  The tow-cable deployment and wrapping should be more realistic.  In contrast, the speeder bike controls are easy and intuitive.

5. The action is very fast-paced so it is difficult to use the chat window for team strategy.  Is there a built-in audio team chat?  I haven't come across it but haven't really looked for it.

I've played for two nights now and while there are a lot of positive aspects to the game, it isn't quite what I what hoping for.  The graphics and environmental detail are simply stunning, that much I liked.  But it's too reminiscent of the CounterStrike style of game - a bunch of highly skilled players running around pointlessly shooting each other, wrapped in Star Wars skins.  Aren't there enough games like this already?   How can a new player be competitive without an expensive gaming system, and the leisure time needed to accumulate credits for the best weapons?

What this game is missing is the campy fun of SWBF1.  Where is the rancor?  Where are the pigs with axes?  Sadly, I haven't recognized even one name from the other SWBF1 and SWBF2 users.

Thank you both for the feedback.  My options seem to be:
  1.  Spend $700-$1300 for a new PC, making BF3 a rather expensive game.
  2.  Spend $0 and upgrade to Windows 10.

The obvious choice is Option 2, but I'll probably go with Option 1.  My high-end laptop has ~$25K of specialized software I use for my business that may not be supported under Windows 10.  Plus my clients are all on Windows 7.

My personal laptop is 5 years old, has no separate graphics card, and is due for an upgrade.  My plan is to wait until the full release of BF3 in the hope that NVIDIA updates the driver, and if they don't, purchase a new laptop.  Until then I will look longingly at the posted screenshots in this forum <sigh>.

What is it, 10 years since BF2 came out, meaning 10 years of waiting for BF3?  Only to find my high-end laptop can't handle the game.  i7-4900MQ, 32GB RAM, and Quadro K2100M graphics card.  Ugh!

My video card seems to have fallen into a notch of NVIDIA driver support.  Version 355.60 is the minimum requirement for the game, but my combination of Windows 7 64-bit with the K2100M only gets me to driver version 354.13.  If I had Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 7 32-bit then I could use the required driver with my video card.

Anyone have similar tales of woe?  Or a workaround?
