Thanks that worked for me! It's weird I was using that launcher, but I have had it for a really long time, maybe the one I had was bugged. The one I just downloaded works great!

I have had Star Wars battlefront working on wine for a while now and it's great. The only thing is that I have not been able to get it to run in a more modern widescreen format. Does anyone know if it is possible to make the game play in widescreen? Thanks for any help :)

Okay, so I reinstalled and it didn't fix it. The Error was still poping up, so I used Everything to search my computer for Httv. Turns out it was a monitoring time management program that I forgot I had. I disabled it and now it works! Funny though, the Httv program must not like something in Star wars battlefront lol.

I just tried it without the mod and that too is having the issue. I'm on a windows 10 laptop so I cant unplug the keyboard. I'll try reinstalling the game again and let you guys know if it still has the issue.

I just got my Star Wars battlefront (2004) (original non steam) back up and running with the full-screen mod. The issue I'm having though is that When I move my character it won't stop walking. It's like all my button presses think I'm holing down for an extremely long amount of time. Anyone ever had this problem or know what it is? Thanks in advance for any assistance :)

Edit:
I just alt+tabbed out to desktop and there is an Error popup with the title "httv" System Error. Code 1400. Invalid Window handle

Well GameRanger didn't work either. There is something about the linux computer that wont communicate with hosts in Starwars battlefront. Is there any other ways for direct or maybe peer to peer connections? what about making a proxy for the linux computer to connect to? There is also that thing called "ngrok" (localhost tunneling). I just want to be able to play with my cousin while he is gone. I don't need the servers, just a direct line to the linux laptop he will use.

I posted this as a comment on my last post, but It wasn't getting seen so I made this new topic.

Game ranger is saying "Host registration failed". Is this because I'm using the swbfspy patch? Is there a no cd patch that does not add the swbfspy servers, that I can use?

Okay. As I can't figure a way to connect to the swbfspy servers on linux. Is there any other way for me and my cousin to just directly connect to each others computers. I saw there is Gameranger; would that maybe work? I don't care so much about getting on servers as I do just being able to play while he is away.

I cant figure what it is I'm missing. Is there any kind of whitelist i need to be added to or something? I feel like I read about that somewhere once. Im just at a loss. In the mean time I'll start over, the install and try a different wine version.

I removed the load files and there is still no change. The loading is just as long. I don't think the loading is the problem. Mac loads take the same, and is still connecting.

Here is something else I noticed on my Mac, when go to multiplayer, up in the corner it says an IP address. This IP address is completely different from the actual IP of my Macbook. Now on the Linux computer in multiplayer; the IP address is the exact same as the actual IP address of the computer. Could this have something to do with the connection problem?

Okay so I added the hosts listed from this post: https://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=11331.0
And now It works just fine on my Mac! So I did the same on the linux computer, but that is still the same "lost connection to host".
I need it to work on Linux, because that is my cousins laptop. I plan to introduce him to star wars battlefront ps2 split-screen, when he visits for a week or so. Then I wanted to set SWBF on his linux notebook so we can continue to play while apart.

So I added the hosts using "nano" editor in terminal on linux. Then I restarted and checked to make sure they saved (which they did). I start SWBF and try joining every server but all give "lost connection to host". I did this process thing on Mac and now it works, unless it is just some coincidence it started working on Mac.

I also don't know what you mean by backup load-

As for the load, it shouldn't be taking long, but if it does, I think you can move to a backup folder every file in Load, except for load.lvl and see if it speeds it up.

Could it have to do something with hosts? I found this post mentioning "hosts" : https://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=7840.0

I added the ports, but still can hardly get in a match. I connected to the EU server for a short time, then during game transition, I gave me the "lost connection to host". I went back to trying to connect and all I get is "Lost connection to host". The firewall if off on my mac and no change. Could it be because its a lower end computer? Its a MacBook air with 8gb ram. (map loading is slow) Could it be that it is taking to long to load the map and I am then considered idle?

I am using the original cd version of Star Wars Battlefront 2004. I added the BattlefrontSWBFspy.exe (I think it is v1.2) Running on wine, both Mac and Linux (not sure if that matters, but I thought it worth mentioning.) When I try to connect to one of the existing servers most times I get "could not connect to host" And when I start a server on my Mac and then try joining the game from the Linux, the ping is 9999, and I can not connect to host. I want to be able to host a private game to play with my younger cousin. Is there some connection port I'm not aware of? Thanks for any assistance :)
