Figured the game would get price chopped after release, didn't think it would get half off, though. I'm assuming there's no Season Pass, right? :P

All of the cutscene audio was finished. Dunno about the actual missions however. If they're not finished, he could try to base the later campaign levels off Elite Squadron for the PSP and base the Dathomir level off the DS version.
I dunno, I guess he could rip some levels off Elite Squadron, but the DS version (which I have) wouldn't be all that great for basing a good level off of, given it's top-down aspect, and the DS' limited hardware in comparison to the PSP.

Glad to hear the audio was finished, though, so even if the levels weren't completed/started, there is a good baseline to start with by working with the audio. Just saying, though, I think that FRD had gone a fair bit more in-depth with the storyline than what Rebellion ripped for Elite Squadron.

It was bound to happen. Such a game cannot go to waste ;)

They look like they're making fast progress.
Indeed, considering just yesterday was the basic gameplay finally introduced. I know it's a devmap at the moment and such, but the progress he's making is quite impressive. I gotta wonder how much of the singleplayer story was actually finished by the time the game got canceled since the guy is saying he might start work on the singleplayer maps once he has the basics laid down (to which, there isn't much more to add really).

So I've installed the client executable. Where does the server one go, or do I just need that if I intend to host a server?

I've been considering trying going over to help them work on that. I think it runs on UE4 now (so I heard anyway) but it's pretty exciting to say the least. Is there anything playable yet? Like an alpha test or something?

It does run UE4 (their FAQ clarifies that).

As far as playable stuff, no, nothing yet. They're still working on it (looks like they're doing up the maps, as well as animations and such), so there's no telling when there will be a playable demo. They did say that UE4 might speed up their development, though, by how much remains uncertain.

One guy posted in their Q&A board on their forum asking why they haven't opted to put this game up through GitHub though he responded saying that it would be difficult to do for several reasons. One of the devs responded (here's his response):

It's usually not as easy as it sounds putting an open source project out there in the wild. Especially when you know there are actually people expecting it. It would mean that from that point on after we make it public everything we do and have done so far would be available to everyone and who knows how that could end. That's kind of a big step to take. So i think we shouldn't rush that bit. Maybe release first something playable that can be called a game and if it is well received then take a step into making it open source.

I am sure most are aware that open source could mean a quicker way of fixing bugs but usually there aren't so many people after all that could invest so much time in understanding the code and it almost always ends up there. Implementing new features would require first some degree of understanding the source code. Also since blueprints can't be previewed as easily in pull request as written code so it would be extremely hard to receive suggestions there and what left is the c++ code.

Was checking a reddit for the BF3 petition, and found someone mention about Battlecry. Popped by their website, and they've been doing a whole lot of updates since then:

http://swbattlecry.com/2015/12/31/a-year-in-review-2015/

Apparently they're experimenting with Oculus Rift tech and 4k resolutions, and have built up Bespin some more to look more like the original maps from SWBF1:

Then even said they still need some help with the project. Just figured I'd throw this out there:

The files have already started being ripped. We have access to quite a bit of cutscene audio (the original Order 66 scene, X1 death scene and Falon Grey/X1 duel scenes) and models are currently being worked on.

Looking through the strings is interesting too: it turns out the Droidekas and Sky Troopers were hero units this time rather than standard units.

Not that EA is likely to listen, but I figure if it worked for Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth it might work here. I started a petition for this game to be finished: https://www.change.org/p/electronic-arts-digital-illusions-ce-lucasfilm-disney-please-finish-star-wars-battlefront-iii-and-release-it-digitally-on-steam-psn-and-xbl
Signed on it as well. Though knowing EA, they'll release it through Origin. When was the last time they ever released a game through Steam?

Is it playable on PC?

From reading Kotaku's article, they say the Redditor who put it up said you need to have a Xbox 360 developer/test kit to play the files. Although like Ginev stated, it's likely there are some who can convert the game to be played on PC. :P

err, female storm trooper?   ;)

Part of me is surprised that hasn't been made yet, in either the SWBF1 or SWBFII modding communities. :P

Dang, I remember Cytex was one of the first people I found on SWBF back when I started in 2010. Shame to see him go though. Fare thee well, Cytex, you will be dearly missed.  :bye:

Tech Support / Re: Ideal PC Builds for The New SWBF?
December 11, 2015, 07:37:25 AM
Hate to revive this post, but I need your help again.

So, I got employed at a grocery store for a month, and now I have some money. Issue is, I only can afford around $700 CDN (gotta try and save some money for myself now that I'm unemployed).

So, I'm wondering here, now that I actually have a budget with me finally, any $700 builds to recommend for running EASWBF on low settings? (Pre-builds in the $700 range are accepted as well!) I have no doubts there's been some new parts out since the last post, so I wonder if any other parts have dropped in price. :)

According to the stats, the PS4 community seems to be fairly big. I'll be curious to see what the stats are 1 month after launch. :P

The new NFS looks so real! I love the look of it but racing games just aren't my thing unless they include destruction like Burnout.
I also 100% disagree with how they're bribing Reddit to stop posters from taking down HELPFUL comments that EA read as NEGATIVE rather than ADVICE. EA just remind me of the type who'd run away from a fight they've started.
Well, there is some damage shown to your car if you tend to hit walls/other cars a lot (which I'm sure can be toggled as either real damage, or visual, or just turned off entirely). In any case, I grew up with NFS Underground 2 on my GameCube, so that's partly why I'm hyped for the new one. I've actually been playing it alot recently to suppress the urge to buy a console/subscription to play the new one. (Must... resist... until Spring 2016... :fist:)

On topic however, I doubt I'll even be buying this game a year from now. Maybe when the second one comes out and looks more proper, maybe then I might renew interest in the new Battlefronts. Until then though, not a chance. :P
