Title: Keeping SWBF alive
Post by: -Matt on December 10, 2010, 12:06:09 PM
Hello all SWBF players, I've played SWBF for 7 months now out of the 4-5 years it has been out. I am trying to constently be on SWBF ( not because i have no life... ) as long as possible. Why? you ask... Because I don't want to see all these  people leave SWBF because they see everyone else leaving. I want all you people to support me in "Keeping SWBF alive".
PLA-'Perfect Little Angels' has played a HUGE role in this case. Thank you Led and Vadra for having such a tremendous part in making PLA for everyone to play at your guys's servers . Also, I will do my best in this case. Thank you guys alot.  :)

Yeah sure, I'm all for it. Are you a leader of a PC clan or what?

many wont like this but swbf is holding this site back. SWBF isnt exactly a growing community but you are free to do what you wish :)

Actually, SWBF is still growing, every now and then i see a few more players joining.
Also, I used to be the owner of a clan but eventually it died out.
Also, thx alot Cull!

if it died...why are people still playing it??  ???
Title: Re: Keeping SWBF alive

Mostly because they don't have any other games to play. Most SWBF players don't play anything else. I know I stopped playing it consistently the moment I found other games to play.

Also, the community is sort of toxic nowadays. Most people in it are really immature and not too fun to be around, unfortunately :(

This is the main reason why MPC is closing... Because most of the current community is not really a community anymore. It lacks the cohesiveness we had a few years ago. It's not fun anymore.

All good things must come to an end.
I'm sure even if the community were to die, players would continue to rally
together in GR/Game-spy or whatever format as Cull said.
In-fact good games tend to happen spontaneously, and unplanned...
while planned events tend to disappoint/annoy/fall apart/generally not work.
But yeah... The community has been on it's way out for a long time now.

So, after reading through a bunch of stuff, i didn't notice the status of modding. Will the released/general talk be available anywhere on this new site? For me at least, i don't participate in the meetings and whatnot here on MPC, but i still come to this site every week to see whats going on in the swbf world.

i wouldn't say that the community is toxic, just that your type of people or friends don't play anymore. there's lots of players still American and other countries worldwide that play and compete with each other.

you should keep something to do with the swbf talk on your new site. it doesn't have to be as extensive as this current one, but your really letting down those people who still play and appreciate what this site provides.

Regarding "where the heck will all the members who come here solely for SWBF will go if MPC closes?!?!":

I guess the best option is the same option chosen when MacXGamers closed down, re-open the original forum:
http://s7.invisionfree.com/SWBF_GR_Discussion (http://s7.invisionfree.com/SWBF_GR_Discussion)

The archive there should contain a marvelous history of SWBF Mac and its members. ^_^

MPC will be transferred to a new owner and will remain up as long as I have enough money to pay the bills. I will not be taking an active role in moderation.

Just spent some time talking with Lord Hobojo on GR. it reminded me of the times when there were often rooms filled with 10+ players. Peps playing and excited about the game. I think more than the game it was just a common interest in this cool thing called SWBF and how it wasn't like so many other games. Yeah, shooting eachother in the bottom was cool but using well grounded strategy was key also.

So many of the old clan members are gone or playing other games but I bet it wouldn't take that much to get them back being they still had their SWBF disc and the desire to play

That being said all things have a cycle and SWBF is at a low point but beyond the game is that so many of us here are still around and talking and if we want...this community will last as long as those involved wish.

I really still enjoy this game and hope I see you all more on GR and you kick my bottom as hard as you can!

Best,
Pancho

It sadden's me. How one thing to another eventually shuts down. Soon, there will be nothing to shut down in the Star Wars Battlefront World. Who knows... They may even shut SWBF down...

All we can do it: Stay active, Play the game, LIKE SWBF, And Stick together!

-Lol first of all i still hope all the effort i'm doing towards the forum will not go unnoticed to that the forum keep existing.

-Secondly if the forum is gonna close down i'm gonna laugh so hard, and that's because of one thing only! hearing Soap crying about his post count that has disappeared.

-Also i might think that Half-life 2 is a better forum then left 4 dead, because for what i've seen more people on steam (from MPC) have Half-life 2 (could be because of the 10 games soap has given). Also the more active members have the game which makes it a lot easier to make topics.

At it's time it was relatively successful...
Gargh! I didn't say "SWBF is the most successful game EVAR!"
My actual bloody point is that it was WIDELY played back in the day,
and now it's been reduced to cult-like status... and because there's so little in SWBF
to talk about other than mods, the interest has declined with the less and less mods that are released.
POW KAPOW!

Well Mario is definitively the most influential Platform game...
and, well Star Wars Battlefront... it just took a vary of qualities that already existed in shooters and put them together.
Halo... TimeSplitter... Red Faction... a bit of COD in there.

The community for SWBF Mac side is so immature it's not funny, just yesterday I was looking for someone to chat to and I see this room with somebody calling and swearing at Baraca in the title. SWBF is not what it used to be. There are a few members that make the game still worth playing though. However I haven't played in a long time.
