Forum News and Forum Rules / SWBF2 BFH Request
September 21, 2024, 03:56:04 PM
Hello guys!

I was recently reached by BFH (Battlefront Hub) owner Obi, requesting new mod maps for SWBF2 scrims.
Currently, the BFH/BCL map pool contains some maps developed by Smith, a SWBF2 player & modder. However, it's time to go through some new and old maps to include them in the pool and enlarge it.

I have suggested that during the week of 28th of October, SWBF2's anniversary, we would play some of your mod maps to see if they fit the community requests:
  • Not too big, not too small. Have in mind they are going to be played in scrims. Take as references Mos Eisley and Tantive IV.
  • One or two eras, that doesn't matter.
  • Filesize no larger than 100Mb.
  • Maps can be conversions from SWBF1 or other games, or even inspired by movies.
I do believe SWBFGamers has the best modding talent and would like to credit and share it with all of them.

If you have developed one, two, or as many maps, feel free to send them to me privately (DM Link) or through this topic.
Do not take this as a priority. But take this as an opportunity to be known for your modding skills in the SWBF2 Competitive community.

Thank you for your endless support.

Hello community!

As you might have read online, SWBF will be re-released with some match-making function instead of the classic MP server choice we have had since the game was released 20 years ago.

It is clear that now SWBF has lacked activity, and this is perhaps a decision taken by Disney/LucasArts as a means to boost it somehow. However, SWBFSpy will remain functional as it has been for the past 8 years. SWBFSpy is here to stay  :tu:

Once the game is re-launched we'll find what is needed to revert the changes and share it with everyone. Take into account that we know just as much as you do on this matter.

When the new system is launched, we'll make sure to support it as well.

If there are any questions, feel free to drop them, and we'll try to have them answered ASAP.

Hey guys guys!

As you know SWBFGamers is about gamers playing SWBF, and we would love to help and let people know when you're going live for SWBF1 or SWBF2 gameplays. For this reason, we've updated the #live-videos channel in discord and are now using a new bot to promote all SWBF players that usually stream their SWBF Gameplays.
If you wish to be added to the list, feel free to reply with your twitch account and I'll add you to the list!

I've been testing with DP's account and mine and it seems to be working fine, so feel free to join the Streamcord list

You can find the discord server link in my signature (below).

Hope you have a wonderful week  :tu:

Hey there everyone!

First of all, this year we wanted to organize something special for all SWBF1 players so that we can all enjoy this game together. Every summer (or most of them) we have been organizing something we wanted you to enjoy, and this year, we want to make it perfect for you!

So, let's begin with some basics:

=> The tournament will be hosted on SWBFSpy. This means Steam players will need to copy their games into a separate folder and add the Steam reversion patch which is available here and on our info website -- feel free to shoot me a DM or send an email if you're having trouble (I strongly recommend joining an MP Monday hosted by our admin and host, Dark_phantom, as means to avoid coming up issues like the CD Key errors).
=> We have not yet come to an idea of how long it could take, probably a 6-week tourney is fine? Drop ideas and suggestions below!
=> We'll manage it mainly here, in our forums, but we recommend using our Discord server which is always available to you, and we'll do everything in our hand to make everyone feel welcome. Voice channels will be created, but I'd appreciate it if I got some help to make sure everything is set up properly.

During the following weeks, I'll try to get some outreach from everywhere and bring players' attention to our forums to get them to sign up, or at least check if this interests them. The point of doing this is to involve as many people as possible in the setup of this event.

I will attach to this post a PDF that contains all the info about the cup, making it more comfortable for everyone to download and share -- will update it until its name has the word "FINAL" at the end.

Unlike previous tournaments, we won't sign up clans or teams. Instead, once all participants sign up as individuals, we'll give each player a random number and teams will be created that way, making it random for everyone. If we find some teams way too unbalanced, we could think of changes.

Once teams are created, we'll need each one of them to give us their "home-planet"/map. To promote the talent from our modders, any map hosted in our forum is available for teams to pick (as if it is built from scratch or is a conversion).

I expect there to be at least 5-6 teams of 5 players, so each team will be able to attack at least 2 teams per week. Those attacks have to be posted on this board by at least one player from each team (make sure to deliberate with your team first).

Each map won will give +5points to the team, losses will subtract -5points. After the 6 weeks, the team with the most points will be considered the winner of the tournament.

The use of client mods are allowed except for:
 => See-through textures.
 => Extended radar.

Now, any suggestions/ideas/modifications are always welcome!

Good evening guys!

Today GoG/Steam released a patch (well, actually two of them) which we could call a fail, since many controls are broken, resolution has certainly not been fixed, and therefore made their MP alternative unstable -- once again.
This means we had to update our files to revert from Steam to SWBFSpy. Download is temporarily hosted in our test-environment: http://swbf2.swbfgamers.net/info/downloads.html (SWBF2 Category - STEAM PATCH).

I did not have time to make sure whether I was missing any files or not, so until I do not get a positive from some community players, I will not post it in the official Info website.
If some SWBF2 Player wants to test it, feel free to do so and share your feedback with me here or through DM.

Thanks for your time!

Good morning guys!

Our US (Chicago) machine has been moved for some maintenance & upgrades, according our host, NFO.
However, the machine can't seem to start after they performed such action and we've reached them to fix it ASAP.

I'll keep you posted on how situation develops, but hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Edit: NFO Response -- Mon, Feb 1 2021 6:16am - answered by Charlie
Thanks for contacting us about this! I will need to escalate this to our CEO, John, for further investigation.

Please allow some time for his response here.

General / Community Discord Update
January 26, 2021, 12:06:02 PM
Good evening guys!

After a long time of wanting to do this, we've finally done a significant update to our Discord server. The changes we've issued are the following:
 - New members must react to the #rules-and-info roles message to get the @Verified role and grant access to view the rest of the server.
 - After doing so, members can now get assigned @SWBF1-Player @SWBF2-Player @PS2-Gamer @Modding Area roles, by reacting to the buttons below -- also in the #rules-and-info page.
 - Channels have been updated and re-organized. To view SWBF1 channels (text or voice), you need the @SWBF1-Player role assigned, and the same applies to @SWBF2-Player.
 - Permissions have been updated for all roles.

All of this should allow the server to run more dynamically, although SCT members will check the newcomers to make sure nothing's wrong with their name or profile picture.
We hope you all like these changes -- else, use #discord-suggestions for new ideas!

Remember the link to our server is still http://discord.swbfspy.com

Ping players with the role assigned to let them know you're playing  :tu:

See you at the battlefront!

Released Maps and Mods / SWBF1 Steam Reversion Files
November 22, 2020, 05:19:32 PM
SWBF1 Steam Reversion Files

http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1578

Hey there guys,

During the past weeks, we've been asked for the files to revert the game from Steam to SWBFSpy. As far as we know the only "different" files (or better said, the ones needed to revert the MP alternative) are the Common & Shell files plus the executable.

I have compiled the files and included the "Install" folder, which is usually needed to play Multiplayer, and it has some cd keys examples in order to play.

Remember that this patch is only to revert from Steam/GoG Multiplayer to SWBFSpy Multiplayer.

If anyone has any issue, please contact us and we'll be glad to help

In order to install it, just extract the files in the game folder itself (e.g. -- F:\Games\Star Wars Battlefront (Classic 2004)) and make sure to execute "Battlefront SWBFSpy.exe" instead of just Battlefront.exe

Hey there guys!

We have started a poll in the discord server to see how many players are interested in a 1on1-2on2-3on3 leaderboards.

Rules and more info will be detailed during the coming up weeks if enough people submit votes!
*However, note that the leaderboards might be hosted in GOG/Steam multiplayer. Unless servers are too unstable...

Thanks in advance!

Hey there guys,

So the 21st guys are usually posting events in their discord in order to play together (GOG/Steam), and decided to host some match today, 19th at 20:00 CEST. We're probably gonna set up a server later today if we're enough people around.

Let me know if someone wants an invite to the discord server

See you in the Battlefront!

Hey there everyone!

Since SWBF1 is pretty much inactive except for when we get newcomers (that find servers to be empty) or events, I wanted to know what you guys think about fixing an hour on both regions US & EU where we're most likely to be playing SWBF1?

I'd suggest the following:

=> EU: 7:00PM-8:00PM CEST
=> USA: 5:00PM or 6:00PM EDT

Let me know what you guys think and hope during Summer we can find some more players ingame!
