Here's the latest update for the tournament! We're close to finishing the draft.

I've attached the PDF file and I think I'm just missing what is allowed and what isn't regarding modding, so hopefully we'll have it finished by the end of the week, and start promoting it soon

I've made some progress regarding the cup, which can be found below. Trying to include previous feedbacks.

Today/Tomorrow I'll try to progress some more and make sure to have all info ready for mid-April, and try to get as many players involved as possible

Hey there! Welcome to SWBFGamers :)

What MP version do you use? Steam/GoG or SWBFSpy?
#98
AFAIK, to play SWBFSpy you only need to use this info

PS2 Info:

DNS Settings
SWBFGamers - 74.91.125.138
Christian - 186.34.183.203

DNAS Settings
gate1.jp.dnas.playstation.org 149.56.101.45
gate1.eu.dnas.playstation.org 167.114.40.4
gate1.us.dnas.playstation.org 167.114.40.5

Steam made some updates and we had to modify the files, so I recommend downloading the ones from the following link:

http://info.swbfgamers.com/downloads/SWBFSpy_SWBF1_Patch-SteamPlayers.zip

If you have all these files, it must work -- otherwise reply to this post and let us know

I have the impression you're a steam/gog player and only used the exe replacement instead of the specific Steam reversion file, am I wrong?

Quote from: Dark_Phantom on March 24, 2021, 04:44:16 AMMy thoughts on it (since nobody else has jumped in yet):
  • 6 weeks is probably fine, maybe even too long considering the number of people that are left.
  • I'm undecided on random teams.  For balance it's probably best but many people like to play with friends
  • I do like the format of this tournament, if you haven't played anything like this, it's definitely a treat.

Awesome! Thanks for posting DP

Maybe lower it to like 4 weeks? That should be enough time IMO.
Yeah, the randomized teams are just a thought I had so that it'd be balanced, but I believe there can be some changes done to that. I just don't know how to balance it... if anyone has any idea, just post below  :tu:

Hey there everyone!

First of all, this year we wanted to organize something special for all SWBF1 players so that we can all enjoy this game together. Every summer (or most of them) we have been organizing something we wanted you to enjoy, and this year, we want to make it perfect for you!

So, let's begin with some basics:

=> The tournament will be hosted on SWBFSpy. This means Steam players will need to copy their games into a separate folder and add the Steam reversion patch which is available here and on our info website -- feel free to shoot me a DM or send an email if you're having trouble (I strongly recommend joining an MP Monday hosted by our admin and host, Dark_phantom, as means to avoid coming up issues like the CD Key errors).
=> We have not yet come to an idea of how long it could take, probably a 6-week tourney is fine? Drop ideas and suggestions below!
=> We'll manage it mainly here, in our forums, but we recommend using our Discord server which is always available to you, and we'll do everything in our hand to make everyone feel welcome. Voice channels will be created, but I'd appreciate it if I got some help to make sure everything is set up properly.

During the following weeks, I'll try to get some outreach from everywhere and bring players' attention to our forums to get them to sign up, or at least check if this interests them. The point of doing this is to involve as many people as possible in the setup of this event.

I will attach to this post a PDF that contains all the info about the cup, making it more comfortable for everyone to download and share -- will update it until its name has the word "FINAL" at the end.

Unlike previous tournaments, we won't sign up clans or teams. Instead, once all participants sign up as individuals, we'll give each player a random number and teams will be created that way, making it random for everyone. If we find some teams way too unbalanced, we could think of changes.

Once teams are created, we'll need each one of them to give us their "home-planet"/map. To promote the talent from our modders, any map hosted in our forum is available for teams to pick (as if it is built from scratch or is a conversion).

I expect there to be at least 5-6 teams of 5 players, so each team will be able to attack at least 2 teams per week. Those attacks have to be posted on this board by at least one player from each team (make sure to deliberate with your team first).

Each map won will give +5points to the team, losses will subtract -5points. After the 6 weeks, the team with the most points will be considered the winner of the tournament.

The use of client mods are allowed except for:
 => See-through textures.
 => Extended radar.

Now, any suggestions/ideas/modifications are always welcome!

Hey guys!

As you guys all know, all the MP servers we host on both SWBF1 and SWBF2 Steam-GoG MP platforms are running with community tools. SWBF2 is far more stable than SWBF1 and has an improvised "dedicated server software", however, for SWBF1 there is nothing but a client executable file and a batch file.

The SWBF1 GoG/Steam multiplayer is not stable, and servers will not show up after about 24h, which means they need to be restarted to be shown in the server browser.

Originally I just programmed the batch file to kill the task and restart every day, however, it happened twice that players were in the server and it got restarted. This made me realize that the solution wasn't as efficient (or the most convenient) to solve the issue, so I just cut off that part and restarted myself.

I usually restart servers every day -- I might forget some days, so if you see that our servers are not showing, it is not because we have decided to stop hosting them. Please let us know and we'll restart them ASAP.

Quote from: MonkeyOld26 on February 21, 2021, 08:54:35 PMHey, it said to post in this category if you're new so here I am. Just bought both original Battlefront games (on Origin, not that great of an idea until I learned about this) and have been enjoying them pretty well so far. I just downloaded the SWBFSpy patch for SWBF2 after getting some great help from Anyder answering questions I had about how it all worked. I still kind of wish that the servers were a little more active. I actually proposed a solution to this here so if you want to go check that out that's cool I guess.

Welcome to SWBFGamers & SWBFSpy  :tu:

BTW, I didn't reply to the last email, but hope you're also having a great week!

Quote from: Dark_Phantom on February 22, 2021, 05:24:39 AMNew Announcement here:
Today (2/22/2021, or 22/2/2021 for the EU), Multiplayer Mondays is happening at 4:30pm EST until about 6:30. As always, I will be streaming on my channel
-- Skinny also usually streams over on his channel at https://www.twitch.tv/super_skinny (I'd like to give his channel a plug here even if it's not every week he streams it)

Next Monday, 3/1, we will be playing mod map selections.  I'll post on this thread when the map list is finalized.

As always, see you on the Front!

Thanks, for usual, DP!

I'm sorry I missed it today, hope to make it next week. As soon as you have all the info posted, I'll forward it to the discord server as well, and try to get a larger outreach by posting in the steam page as well
