Okay so I got XSI working, installed ZETools and Python, and set the scripting engine to Pythons but every time I try to open ZETools from the drop-down list it doesn't come up and there is a error message thats in code in red at the bottom. Can I get some help
"I would explain it to you but your head might explode."

This is the code:

"OLE error 0x80020101"
"I would explain it to you but your head might explode."

No idea what that means. Whats your install location?

(C:)/Users/not telling you my name/Softimage_Mod_Tools_7.5/Addons
"I would explain it to you but your head might explode."

I'm not sure what the error means, but I am assuming you did reboot your computer after installing python and ZETools?

yep
"I would explain it to you but your head might explode."

K, just checking.

Till real solutions happen, have you checked Ande's FAQ?

https://sites.google.com/site/andescp/zetools_faq

Most of the errors I encountered while setting up ZETools were because of weird version numbers for the python stuff. Ande is pretty specific on what you should get.

I ended up using:
Python - python-2.6.6.msi
http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.6.6/

Pywin - pywin32-217.win32-py2.6.exe
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files/pywin32/Build%20217/

You have to get the right version of pywin for python or it wont work.

If this doesn't fix it, then it may be a VC redistributable error. (yeah, another file..)
Visual C++ 2010 redistributable
x86 - http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5555
If that doesn't work, then get the 64 bit version.
x64 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632

Once the Python stuff and VC is setup right, you should be able to just start XSI and ZETools just works.

the site doesn't realy have whats wrong with me and those are the to python downloads i got (I already had the Microsoft C++ Visual 2010)

Well, I am stuck then.

looking around google for OLE error 0x80020101 to see if there is any general idea of what might be causing it, but so far I am seeing nothing illuminating.

Just checked my install folder for ZETools and it is different than yours.

C:\users\tirpider\Autodesk\Softimage_Mod_Tool_7.5\Addons\XSIZETools

Perhaps that helps?

I just moved it and now when i launch the batch file to launch XSI it says that it can't find the application for XSI

"OLE error 0x80020101"
Curious question:
Oh, I hope, you did not try clicking this buttons: ZETools>ZETools...?

Ande, unfinish his last versions of ZETools, so I am afraid, you have no other choice, as just not to choose this option, and wait, till Ande, return to his modding activity.
Beauty is, the way to perfection.

???
I don't recall needing a batch file to start XSI.

And since that seemed to make matters worse, I would put it back the way it was.

At this point, my inner-tech is saying uninstall Python, PyWin , and the mod tool. Rename the user folder, reboot, and reinstall.

>> XSI mod tool
>> Python 2.6
>> PyWin
>> re start the computer
>> ZETools

There shouldn't be any batch files involved unless you have some non-standard set up. If that's the case then I just don't know.

Before doing all that see my next post...
