my openspy attempt/HOSTS file informatoin

OK, so I tried open spy.  I edited my hosts file on my XP playing computer and on the 2003 Server.
I started the server on NFO.  I started my game at home.


I get hung up at the 0% and 100% values for the internet lobby.  I hit cancel, then
I can see the NFO server and the FC servers.  They ping at 9999.

I can not get into the PLA NFO server.  I can get into the FC server.







HOSTS file is located here on windows XP:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

be careful if you use Notepad to open this file, as it will make the
file name hosts.txt and you need it without the TXT exstension, just:  hosts

OK, I think that DC's will work again. If you are a PC player, just edit your hosts file as above.
No need for players to edit their hosts file.  Just join!  Thanks Dbiz for checking it out!

for Direct Connections, the only one who needs the file edited is the host. the ppl who connect to it, dont need it!

Direct Connect loaded almost right away for me (of course, 32 AI + my internet = bad, but I still joined, so I am very happy )

To play, just join.  Only the host needs to do anything with openspy for Direct Connection servers.

EDIT: Server works amazingly! I invited some {Alpha} friends on the server, had a fun time. Here's a screenie I took of the player list before I left:

There was some minor lag, but nothing too big. My fingerprint scanner was also acting out on me, which caused me to lag a lot. But other than that, a pretty solid server, Led.

I can see PLA and UEF server, and they show server info on bottom of the screen. But I can't join these servers.  I can join FC servers but they don't show server stats. My game freezing on the server lobby screen 75% of the time now, its very annoying.
