Aye up & happy new years.

Did the original install from the disk. Then obviously to version 1.2. Then to gamemaster. Then to the no CD patch. Then to SWBF spy.  Maybe I should do a clean install.....

SWBFspy: Internet Master Server Discussions / binkw32.dll
December 17, 2016, 08:02:10 PM
Aye up all.  In a fit of nostalgia I gave SWBF1 a run using SWBFspy.exe.  I get an error message "the program can't start because binkw32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"

I'm using windows 7. My game is loaded outside of program files (c:Starwars\gameData) and the dynamic link library file is present in the Game data folder.  The only way I can get the exe to work is by re-extracting it from the zip and putting a new copy in the gamedata folder every time I want to play. Does anyone know how to get rid of this annoying problem?

Ah SK, why do you want the "digital storm Aventum Mark 2" with the NVIDIA GTX "6 GB Titan" when you could have the "Cyberpower Black Mamba Fang 3"  with two crossfire or SLI linked Titans and an equally stupid name  (see http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Fang_III_-_Black_Mamba).

And also for half the price.

Sure, maybe it doesn't have cooling, but you have glaciers right ?  Just open a window.....

But wait, does your country have enough electricity in its national grid to power one of these things ? :P

Btw, you've missed me yes ?

I like OpenSpy !
I like OpenSpy !
I like Openspy very, very, much !

Some people however, have some issues with it. Might take some time to encourage people to transition across. I fear that we might lose some more players as part of that process : (

Still, I like OpenSpy !

Probably mostly because Tunngle is, with its manual adapter instals and cantankerous port forwarding, err, quite simply, is the pits.

I'll give it a go at some stage, but not this weekend. I want to get behind and support Tunngle playing this weekend.

Now that said, I'll give up tunngle and SWBF 1, for SWBF2 forever, if one of you talented gents can mod several  swbf2 maps to behave like a 1.2 game.  If you can do that, I'll recant and convert.

So how about that !  Someone up for modding swbf2 to perform like swbf 1.2 ?  Then we could host 1.2 servers on the swbf2 platform.  Before you go yeah right, it could never happen, I have seen the jetdroid patch and some amazing things come out of the talent of this website, so how about putting your creative heads together?

Just a thought. I can't, cause I suck at modding of all persuasions.

From Gamespy;

Powered by GameSpy; Hi Roland, Lucas Arts no longer supports the game and as a service provider to them we have disabled the game per their instruction.

On FACEBOOK Post your thoughts here;

Face book is great as your posts are basically out there for everyone to see. Exerts more pressure to actually do something.

You can also have a go at http://au.gamespy.com/bios/index.html  - Tell them that Glu deny it all and as a consequence their branding if it relies upon honesty and a functioning system, is being flushed down the porcelain.  Good luck.

Hmmm....

Works great in single player and I can host a 9999 server, but anyone tried hosting either the Von Frank map or Unit 33's map online using the dedicated server software or by batch file ?

I can't get either the dedicated software to recognise the files, nor can I achieve a stable server from a bat file calling battlefront.exe.  Any hints or tips appreciated.

The VonFrank Bespin mod was heaps funny. Brought new meaning to spawn killing. Laughed so hard I nearly had an accident : )

Unit 33's mod was also a lot of fun.

Thanks for the tips -

Btw, I see Sleepy has been busy - must go check his new zombie mod out !

Hi,

I was playing around with some mods by Deagle (21st Century) including a zombie Jabba map and a sides mod that spits blood out everywhere when you get shot, and that got me thinking.... what would be the best examples of these type of mods that anyone has seen ?  Halloweens coming around in about 6 weeks so I thought maybe that PLA might host some maps off one of its servers - the best ones. There must be a fair few out there, the question is which ones are at the head of their class?  I'd like your opinion (or anyone elses on SWBFGAMERS) I imagine this may cause some debate :p

Once I went to 1.2, there was no going back : )

Full servers with up to 32 people at a time, professionally hosted servers, no catastrophic lag.

Spawn killing and noobs in 1.2, are a small price to pay.

Oh btw, here is a good list of the switches http://www.tweakguides.com/SWB_7.html  you can also find this at one of the forum posts at Lucas Arts.  This however doesn't tell how to set the ticket count! Regards

This post (Sticky'ed) http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=1375.0 gives a basic over view of the commands that can be found in your battlefront Server.ini file.

I was wondering if anyone had a complete list of all the commands.

Particularly interested in whether there is a command for the ini file that lets you boot your server with more than 200 ticket counts.

Also interested in whether there is a command to set a password for your server, again in the ini file.

I'm currently setting this manually through the dedi software interface everytime. Pre-setting in the ini file would be much more convenient.

So, as noted, anyone got a complete, comprehensive list? This would be a wonderful resource. Hoping if you do have a full list, you might be able to share.

Thanks in advance

Assembling your PC

Take it slowly, but you will be astounded as to how easy it is. Make sure you plug all your fans into the power supply to keep your machine cool, and make sure that your motherboard is properly supported and fixed into the case, before plugging anything in (to have a good solid foundation). Everything else practically snaps together in under 5 minutes. Install SWBF and have fun. Your new PC's performance will make your old one look like the gutenberg press and your system would have costed less than $1000 (as opposed to $2000 pre-assembled). Mine is currently running at 4.1ghz and thats without manually overclocking - just air cooled and using the motherboard utility straight out of the box.

Use a quad to hex core AMD processor (just as good as Intel) and you may save even more for just as good performance. Buy all of your stuff on line to save heaps (obviously from reputable stores only that you can trust) and also look for package deals on line as "bundles" for your case, power and motherboard to save even more. Good luck.
