You need to either replace your Battlefront.exe file:
Here is an automatic gamemaster patch installerhttp://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1147 or to manually install it
http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1144Note: if replacing your battlefront.exe file, you may need to delete your "virtual store"
This link will show you where it is located:
http://scorpionqa.wordpress.com/2010/01/25/how-to-locate-your-hidden-virtual-store-in-windows-7/
Basically, it makes a copy of things for quick loading, but that can interfere with the new exe file that you just got.
you can find it here:
C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore
Or, edit your hosts file (see this tutorial)http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=7840.0If you are really brave, you can try the hex edits mentioned in the post below. Be sure you make a copy of your original exe file first!
If your language for battlefront.exe is not supported, please let us know.
also to manually hex edit your client or server battlefront.exe for any language change these values

Are trying to play 1.0 or 1.2 ?
Also, what version of windows do you use?
1.2
win7
its the problem where when i do the steps and load up .exe, i get a white box with LOADING... that doesnt go away. ill try see what i can do tomorrow. thanks LED - p.s. we must advertise your ts3 more man! especially on saturdays
Sauce seems to be having the same problem with the white box loading, and just hanging there.
Which for me was fixed by downloading Anyders autorun fix version, did you try that?

Regarding teamspeak, certainly, get some players on it. It can be loads of fun. Let me know if it goes down and I will restart it (it does that some times). Oh, and I put a widget on the home page so everyone can see who is on TS.
I can make a private BOB channel on it, and I can also set your clan up with a private board on this forum.

Correct, they are not placing it in the right spot.
I had the binkw32.dll error when i first tried it.
There is a binkw32.dll somewhere in the lucasarts folder dont remember where. I just copied that to the gamedata folder and it worked.

When using GameMaster, I go in game, and after a few minutes I start lagging. And it just gradually builds into more... more lag. Eventually it just finally tells me battlefront.exe has stopped working and closes out the game.
Any help? Please? Greatly appreciated...

No. Quite infact I have checked for overheating before but my computer is the coldest piece of metal in my room...
I'm not sure what's causing this...
But I have a hunch its something that I may have accidently downloaded with another file.
I'm going to start backing things up that I want and reset my PC... maybe.

You need to either replace your Battlefront.exe file:
Led, are you one of the developers of GameMaster, and if not are you in close contact with the developers? I ask because this seems like the best work-around option currently and I need to know some more specific information from it.
Currently the PS2 community will have no method to play the game after it shuts down because none of the other work-around options like Tunngle or Gameranger would function because these are separate applications with downloads required. This, on the other hand, seems like a simple modification which changes the .exe and tells it to get the server list from a different address.
If it works like I think it does, then it would also would function on PS2, because we have the capability built in to change what DNS address we connect to. This method was used previously play SWBF1 on OpenSpy, and GameMaster sounds exactly like OpenSpy, but much better.
I just need to know what DNS address I should use to test out GameMaster. Any information would be appreciated.
EDIT: is it 5.230.233.61 ?
Hi Mike,
I think you found the information you need to try things out. The developers are a German group at www.swbf3.de. A player name Kalle has been helpful.
I am not sure everything is fully functional with GameMaster, but I suspect they can help.
I have to note that we went through this all one year ago with something called OpenSpy, but it never really worked very well for us. So far, this seems better.
Do you play PS2 SWBF2? If so, you may want to contact someone called "PyroJockey" . He has some experience getting these things figured out, and has an account here you can contact him with. Tirpider may also be able to help you.
The only thing we need is more servers (like mine) with the tps command set to 60 or more. Playing on a server with a tps of 20/30 really makes it unplayable in my book. :(

Yea this looks like a similar thing hopefully, but better. Currently OpenSpy is out of date. The last update was May 1st I believe. As of that update, hosting 4-man servers from a Playstation 2 was possible on SWBF1 and 2, but they only functioned properly on SWBF1. I believe they are in need of a new C++ coder for another update. Currently OpenSpy is not properly configured to send the Server List to PS2s or PCs. GameMaster looks like it should effectively do the same thing, but better since they have more active people working on it.

I do indeed play, and I would hate to see GameSpy take the game away from us. I help the PS2 competitive ladder site over at: http://theswbfc.forumotion.com
I've pretty much been playing the game every day for the past 2 months. We squeezed in 1 more season before the 31st. I'm trying to keep everyone over there informed on if we'll be able to play after the shutdown. I just wish I had a testable solution sooner for everyone. I wanted to spread the word before people started to leave the community.
And yes, I know Pyro and I talk to him about this stuff 8). We're working on testing this but we've hit a roadblock for now because I'm not certain that I have the right DNS address.
Thank you for all the helpful information. I think you put me on the right track for who to ask.

Hmm, well the exodous from Trummble was quick and decisive. I suppose it must be a success. However after following a large number of instructions in regard to exe.files and replacing hosts etc , I can still only play via this

Any attempt to access the internet leads to a long drawn out loading window in white, just says 'Loading.......'

Is there a concise and definative series of steps? Or will it just be a 'trial and error' approach?
There seems to be a number of different options, which one works?
By the way Trummble works well now...

4lbLordUxor, you need to try this version which usually fixes that problem, all that you should be experiencing is an autorun issue:
http://uef-clan.com/FTP/Anyder/Anyder/Battlefront_autorun_fix_by_anyder.exe
If it doesn't work then yes you have a problem!

Rename your original battlefront.exe to Originalbattlefront.exe. Then rename the modified exe that you downloaded to play internet to Battlefront.exe. I don't know but that worked for me lol
I do not know how the nickchanger works exactly, but I don't think a differing server will break functionality, and I do not think renaming the executable is a good idea, unless it attaches to the process (in which case is named "battlefront" anyways, which is weird..).
There's only one way to find out of course ^^
Also, do note that nick changer seems to malfunction from time to time, it will just stop working for a little bit for me, and I know others have had the same scenarios.
I just tested it right now and it works for me....

BB's nickchanger is a memory hack that searches for battlefont.exe. So yes, I expect that it would not work if you do not rename the new exe file to battlefront.exe.

Make sure you put Battlefront.exe in the correct folder (GameData) and make sure you run "Battlefront.exe", or make a shortcut to it. Do not run the "LaunchBF.exe" file.

That's happened to me as well. Wine seems to be pretty temperamental, sometimes it just seems to work if you relaunch the game a few times.
Another issue I've found is that I can't join password locked rooms, as the prompt window to enter a password is somehow missing.

I wonder if a shell script mod could fix that. ifs_mp_sessionlist.lua is the largest script in the game though, so it would probably be difficult.

See its working on and off.. Ive tired a few different cd keys and that hasn't helped. It seems like it depends on the number of people in the server... but that doesn't make sense to me... The server I tried to enter was the first one on the "{PLA} PC Servers" list that appears on the right hand of the homepage, immediately below "Recent Posts." It even did that weird thing where it'd show me in the players list when I looked from the lobby but still, not authorized.
I made sure to check that there was an exception with the firewall in the control panel thing.
What else do I need to do?

I just got the same error, but I recieved the message when I tried to join the [FC] Mos Eisley server.
Your CD Key is Not Authorized To Play This Game is a server sided issue. once the server is rebooted this message will go away.

I have restarted the root servers.

Are you using the autoinstaller here?

That's the best way but my game, on Windows 7 64bit, crashes if I use the desktop icon. I have to start like this;

Thx for your help!
I have few questions now ^^':
- Do I need a GameSpy ID (I think not but I prefer to ask) ?
- When I want to join the only server online "<AR>||Train||" (or something like that, it tells me I have to download something but what ? :o
EDIT: And when i click on "internet" after "Multiplayer" a window appears and I can read "[NULL]. Idk if it's a bug or ... ? And when I close it I have the GameSpy thing (connect with account, etc).

AR is a clan, I'd assume you could ask around to any members. Perhaps they could at least point you to the owner ;)
