If your talking about changing your home router then ASUS and Linksys do decent routers DD-WRT compatible routers for around £100 that you can flash DD-WRT firmware into, then create your own custom firewall rules using the interface or IPtables. It's a NAT based firewall. If your after something that does packet inspection then might be best to look at ebay for secondhand Cisco enterprise kit.
I use a Linksys DD-WRT router in this way. Also allows VPN via OpenVPN with policy based routing so you can specify what internal IP's go over VPN and what don't and you can plug in a USB hard disk and have a independent, always on internal NAS.

Thanks for the replies. I have v1.3 reinstalled now with the mod for smoothing the graphics and all previous mods (updated BF3 Coruscant, BFX characters etc) are working again, following Steam "update".  I have played a couple of times on the SWBF servers. Great that there is no lag (and excessive AI). Reminds me of when we hosted our own clan server for PS/2. However doesn't seem to be many players around when I get chance to play, after 20:30 GMT. 

I bought the rebooted release 1 via Amazon on release day, played it for a couple of hours and realised it was nothing like SWBF1/2 "classic" in that it didn't have the class system, installed Steam SWBF2 and that was it. £38 wasted.  I don't think I'll be buying reboot 2 unless I see some pretty favourable reviews from the SW community.

I found the site this eve after getting fed up with the latest "re-incaration" of SWBF2 online, on Steam.
I had v1.3 installed but the Steam update left me with v1.1 and half my old SWBF1 maps and mods in place on the non-original SWBF2 maps plus the originals, without mods.

I used to play alot on PS2/ back in 2007/08 (182nd clan and bottom gamers) so don't consider myself a noob and hope to get a few good few games in without AI and Lag via SWBFGamers.

... been auto-censored - played for A.R.S.E. gamers, not bottom gamers... lol
