Title: Battlefront Problem... (Solved)
Post by: Droideka on February 25, 2009, 12:27:20 PM
So my disc broke, and all the cracks I try don't work for some reason...is there anything I can do so I can play battlefront other than going to buy a copy of it? I'm sick of buying one every once in awhile because of a broken disk...Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Droidy

Did it break break (like in half) or just scratch? Because you can buffer a disk.

The reason why the [k] doesn't work is cause it [k]'d the Battlefront.exe executable and not the LaunchBF.exe executable. Therefore if you try to launch the game through the splash screen, it will still require the DVD/CD to be in the drive.

Just make a new shortcut for:

C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\Battlefront.exe
Just use that shortcut instead of the one in the Start Menu and then the [k] should work just fine.

do you still have the game installed? if so check out:

http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ (http://www.gamecopyworld.com/)

and get yourself the 'no cd' patched files (I dont know if this works on macs). It's what I use so I dont have to bother putting the cd in and out!

The CD has a crack near the center of it, sorry that I didn't specify that in my original post.

I'll try your idea Dresh, hopefully it will work. Thanks again guys.

So the game starts now as in the black screen comes up but then the game immediately crashes and I have to exit the program. I get the error message that says "battlefront has encountered a problem and needs to close"

Make sure you download the 1.2 [k] made by VENGEANCE. It works just fine for me. I've tried it w/ Cider, Bootcamp, and VMware. If you can't find it, it's best if you give me a message on xFire. I don't think Jedikiller would like me going further in here.

Thomas you were coming up with a solution awhile back, did you ever get working on that? I'm going back to Walmart later this week and if I don't have battlefront working I'm probably going to end up buying yet another copy of it.

Thanks,
Droid  /moo

I think I have the VENGEANCE no CD patch somewhere on my old HD which crashed and is being recovered for my schoolwork. I don't know the timetable of when I'll get it back though. It's been gone for 2 months now.

Thomas: I have the no-CD patch in the cidered SWBF I PC.

Ok, so I am fully aware that this is completely off-topic, but...
Mac, was the computer with the failed HD a MacBook? Because mine just died two weeks ago (luckily it was still under warranty).

Yes, but I have connections that allow me to get my HD restored using a machine that takes all the info off of the failed HD that can be saved and reads it. It's used for recovering incriminating files on computers. I hope my porn doesn't turn up, jk.
