There is also another way for chrome-based browsers.

- Right-click the download link
- Select "Copy link address"
- Paste the link in a new tab

The download is started, but you still have to confirm an "unsafe" download.

Forum News and Forum Rules / PSA About Downloads Section
Last post by Dark_Phantom - May 29, 2025, 06:18:05 PM
Hello SWBFgamers community,

We are still looking into possible solutions for server sided handling of our downloads.  I know it can be annoying to click on something and nothing happens in the download section.
This is because our host for our download section is using HTTP.  I imagine it could be fairly straightforward to move to HTTPS but that would require updating all the links as well.

We've generally recommended just using Firefox but in Chrome you can enable it on THIS SITE ONLY by doing the following:
1.) Click the button to the left of the link in the address bar
2.) Click "Site Settings"
3.) Go down to "Insecure Content"
4.) Change to "Allow"

Our downloads section does get vetted by moderators and admins.  If you have any concerns over where a download leads, we can double check for you before downloading.

Thank you!

I've been able to extract an old downloads folder from 2019 that includes downloads from our first website moves.

It is possible it includes maps that never made it to our new site and hosted at SWBFgamersfiles.

If you are looking for something you can search the attached text file and let me know if it needs to be uploaded.

When I have time, I will update the files but that could  take a while to make sure I don't already have it.

GameToast is now back online. No word on why it went down. Currently, though, logins are broken.

SWBF2 Modding / Visual Munge creates empty lvl...
Last post by Omina - May 24, 2025, 04:14:33 AM
I'm trying to make two very simple edits - change the Imperial Officer's sonic blaster to the commando pistol and the Dark Trooper's arc caster to the rifle.

These are the steps I follow:

1. Build custom world after installing BF2 Mod Tools
2. Copy IMP and COMMON sides from BF2_ModTools/assets folder to BF2_ModTools/data_ABC/sides
3. Make ODF edits to imp_inf_default_officer.odf and imp_inf_default_darktrooper.odf changing the weapons
4. Go to BF2_ModTools/data_ABC/Common/Scripts/ABC, edit ABCc_con.lua, change the cis entry to:

ReadDataFile("dc:SIDE\\imp.lvl",
                             "imp_inf_rifleman",
                             "imp_inf_rocketeer",
                             "imp_inf_engineer",
                             "imp_inf_sniper",
                             "imp_inf_officer",
                             "imp_inf_darktrooper",
                             "imp_hero_darthvader",
                             "imp_hover_fightertank")

5. Run Visual Munge in _BUILD folder,  Sides - EVERYTHING, leave common unchecked

But it doesn't actually matter what I put in step 5 because it just creates an empty lvl_Pc folder in my addon folder. And the output is just:

Munging addme.lua...done.
Copying files to Battlefront II directory:
"D:\Games\Star Wars Battlefront 2\GameData"
Addon dir exists, continuing...
Mod dir "ABC"exists, continuing...
Copying addme.script to mod dir...done
Copying "mission.lvl" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Copying "core.lvl" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Copying "ABC" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Copying "SIDE" to modDir\data\_LVL_PC\...done
Munge process finished
\Common was unexpected at this time.

What am I missing please? thanks

Being that SWBF is single-threaded (as Dark_Phantom said) and server CPUs generally run at lower clock speeds, you may actually see worse performance than a regular CPU with a higher clock speed.

That being said, it's old enough of a game that it probably really won't matter and you likely wouldn't notice much of any difference either way.

You're not gonna get any performance boost from anything like that.  BF runs on a single thread and you're not gaining any advantages over any other setup.

Probably fine using it, but any oddities you find could probably be mitigated by using a consumer level CPU.  Server CPUs can be fine but are usually tailored towards... server-level jobs.
