Updated player list. I need trusted people to PM if they are interested in administering this tournament, ill help organize and setup, but i wont admin.
I am interested in helping you Helios.
Questions I have : will it be a 1v1 or team ( 2v2, 3v3, whatever ) ladder?
When do you want to start it ( waiting the end of ICW4 would be better )?
I think it's 1on1.
I'd say to start it ASAP cause when people start school, we'll lack time..

1v1 but we can have two seperate brackets, with a 2v2 section and possibly a 3v3, but for now its 1v1.

I agree we should start it soon. But not in the midst of an ICW, maybe somewhere towards the end (week 2 or 3, so not really near the end lol)
What's this about? Some sort of an explanation would be nice -_-

here are the old rules(there will be changes)
If you want to take part in the SWBF leaderboards please sign up below either as an individual or as a team of 4. Hopefully we can get a good number of players and have some good games. The rules are below.
Rules and outline:
The swbf leaderboards tournament will be split into two sections one for individuals and one for teams of four and will start on September 1st. Thanks to Led/Buckler it will be hosted by SWBFgamers.
Individuals:
The first 20 (I'm optimistic) people to join will be be given random numbers to order them in the scoreboard. If you want to move up in the rankings you need to challenge someone within 3 places of you(for example number 7 can challenge 6, 5 or 4). If you win you take their place and they move down one. New players have to start at the bottom and work up.
Every player is expected to accept 2 challenges a week but there is no maximum. Admins will oversee any matches where a player requests it but both players can agree to no admins before matches. If you want screenshots from the other player you can also arrange this before the match. There would be a time limit of 20 minutes per match for individuals (then first kill wins for ties). There will be no CP bleed (meaning reenforcements will only go down with kills but CPs can be captured. Ticket count will be 15-15.
Teams:
Teams must have 6 registered members and can change only one member a week. Time limit is 30 minutes per match. Other rules are the same as individuals except teams can only challenge within two places and there will be CP bleed. Ticket count will be 250-250.
Both:
The defender would choose the era and map from Cloud city and Mos Eisley with the condition that 2 people cannot play the same map twice in a row. The attacker would choose the team. Gameplay would be capturing cps but no special units for the sake of balance, there will be no AI.
Rules:
1.Screenshots must be taken of all scores.
2.No mods (minimap always on, transparency etc.) Only crosshairs and player skins are allowed.
3.No cussing/swearing
4.No wall hacking
5.Remember this just a game so be nice and play fairly with other players.
6.No challenging the same player more than 2 weeks in a row.
7.No special units (Jets, Wookie or Droideka)
8.No tanks
9.If an admin is requested for a match the match must start within 10 minutes of the proposed time. It will then start regardless of how many players are present.
10.Matches are based on the position of the players before the match not the leaderboard. Example: If player 5 beats 4 he is then out of range of player 8 even if the leaderboard has not been updated yet. Its not as confusing as that sounds.
11. Challenges must be accepted within 6 days and played 2 days after that or you will be moved below the challenger.
12.Any arguments over matches must be posted the same day
Penalties for breaking these rules will normally take the form of a place drop.
If your ok with a lack of experience and skill, I would be willing to give this a try.
the days of me joining tournaments with rules against using mods are long gone. good luck to everyone who participates!
I doubt I'll be a part of this but after last time I would advise setting a time period before the tournament like 5 weeks so that everyone knows an end date. Also it can be hard but you need to be strict with the time limit for accepting challenges otherwise you can get a huge backlog of matches pretty quickly.
If you are blocking mods Sleepkiller made a CloudCity map you can use but I don't know about any others. I think radar is the only mod that gives any noticeable advantage 1 on 1 anyway. Good luck with the tournament.
Sounds like fun, Im in!
Ok game list updated.
@GDH, if no one is up to the task of administering this tournament i guess i will have to. There will be a few minor adjustments to the rules.
I would offer to admin, but i probably wouldn't do a very good job.
So we start it next weekend ?
Does this sound bad to anyone ?
We can start at any time, that is fine with me.
My decision is that sign up will end in a week and a halfs time (august 6th). The tournament will then begin on the 9th of august.
I'll do it. Seems like a good reason to begin some active playing, again.
So the only question I got is will Cloud City be in the map rotation?
please no cloud city
I will participate.
The way I see it ( this is a suggestion, please criticize it, or at least tell me what you think about it ) : the matches could be a 10-tickets duel on a specific aera of a map.
The citadel of Rhen Var, the central place on Cloud City, the beach on Kashyyyk, the command center on Geonosis, the hangar on Hoth, the clone facility on Kamino, the courtyard on Naboo...
These examples are large and do not offer much chance for cowards to hide ( this is a duel, man up and trust in your skill! ). There are many maps where we can play, I think it would be great to promote maps we don't usually play on.

Why limiting the map playing zone ? That's senseless IMO
And also, official duels are 25 tickets fights... (Also we're asking for no CC, Syrion lol)
My thought process is that we should have fair duels on a competitive environment. Playing with cps could turn into a who-runs-faster-and-can-control-the-map gameplay. I don't think this is what determines the strenghts of a player. The match is 1 versus 1, the winner should be the most skilled player, who can adapt to the enemy's units picks, having a too large map does not favour duels. Meeting each other on an agreed aera allows players to have a fair duel.
Concerning Bespin, it indeed seems that most SWBF players are bored with this map, we played too much on it, some changes would be welcome. Bespin was competitively popular because it offered a fair fight for both sides. Limiting the playing zone opens the possibilities for other less competitive maps to be played ( see my examples ).
I have nothing against increasing the tickets, but keep in mind the matches don't have to last more than 30 minutes.
Seeing as to there is no other admin ill make the forst few rulings myself, there wont be a cloud city map in this tournament. We can have a rotation if maps, mos eisley will be on, ill leave it up to you all to decide the other map(s). It will be official battles as Hades mentioned, sith 25 tickets. Capturing Command posts isnt really a factor in a player vs player tournament, so no worries about that as it wont be included. Im editing the rules today only a few minor changes will be made.
I will repeat what I said in a previous post : I am interested in helping you Helios.

Matches shouldn't have a limited time to be played, that way you'd just get the opponent to kill and hide and get time over, so that he automatically wins. So time should not be a factor to mention.
By limiting the map playing areas, you're just making that the player which last killed the opponent, gets a camping advantage, and that's not fair either.
About the maps, I think that there shouldnt be more than 3-4 duel maps. (Not to mention that we better play in tankless maps...)

Contact me over xfire, sorry i must have missed that part. Xfire: platybutcallmesev
I didn't mean to limit a match time, just that increasing the ticket number increases the time it takes to end the duel. It is definitely a factor to think about, playing the best out of 25 tickets is fine, 50 tickets becomes too long.
My concerns are that the entire playing field of a map sometimes has a perimeter so big that the duel becomes a hide ans seek. This is not what we should be looking for. If the matches are duels, players shouldn't have to find each other to start fighting.
Also, camping shouldn't be a problem, if we set up the area between two cps, both players can wait at their respective cps, or wait for admin approval to start a round.
We can set up a rule prohibiting the use of tanks.

1) LOL, who is talking about 50 tickets ? xD
2) Have u played on the previous Leaderboards ?
3) Lol, do you really think a player will get back to his cp, just to wait for the other one to spawn ? Lel
4) Modded out.
I am sorry, I didn't specify 50 tickets was an example.
I am not sure if playing in previous leaderboards has anything to do with me trying to prove my point. I am not much into the it was like that let's not change way of thinking. I am totally fine with playing on an entire map, but you didn't seem to explain why a restricted aera is bad yet.
"Lol, do you really think a player will get back to his cp, just to wait for the other one to spawn ? Lel"
Rules exist to be followed. Example : Do I think a player will not use a tank if it spawned? Yes, I do. Because we will have a rule against it ( modding the map is the best scenario in this case indeed ). If a player doesn't follow a rule, he gets punished. Same goes for waiting the other participant to respawn in a safe zone.
I didn't know that the tourney was to have 20 rules. If it's gonna have a rule for each movement we do, then i quit...

Anyder some rules are required, otherwise you could never have a match. I think that 25 tickets sounds good, and as far as setting a playing region, that may have to be up to the players who play that match. For example two players don't want to run around the map, so they agree to a area to play in. I do, however; think that spawn killing should be a big "NO" not that there should be a safe zone, just that the right of a player to spawn should be respected. Anyways just my opinions, any rules are fine with me, I'm just here for the experience. ;)
Sy in my opinion you have brought up an interesting idea about limiting the map area. I would support it becuase personally chasing someone or looking for someone in a big map such as mos eisely, there is little hope, gets boring after 2 deaths;) and makes the battle last way to long. Time is also an issue Anyder, I am sure a lot of people could ty in a quick 20-30minute matches with their schedule, anything longer and the matches may take longer to organise as people may struggle to find the time, it can also get boring during longer matches. 25 tickets however shouldnt take too long, unless it is a game of 'hide n' seek'

This is why there is a 30 min max. Id like to start before school starts for most of you, so there wont be time for a mod map(s) to be made.
My school starts Friday. I know the tournament runs longer than that, so I'm willing to devote my hour of gaming I'll have with school to being able to play in this tournament.
Sure I'll join the tourney, My xfire is sredder if you want to talk to me!
This sounds like a bit of fun! I'll join.
