Discord Channels

At least some Alpha and GGR are recommending discord, but I don't understand how or the best way to organize it for a large player base yet.

I think it is pretty easy to organize that. Servers are free, for starters, and I know from one server that we can have many different Voice/IM channels as well as IM only channels. The only thing I don't know is if there is a limit to the number of connections on a server....

If the numbers of people grow on discord more servers will be added, probably up to four for the US depending. Also I'd plan to add more channels and probably name them after the clans or whatever aswell as add a out-of-game channel. Voice channels can be used, but the idea is just to see if another player is online and trying to find another player.

GGR uses discord as a primary communication service atm. It works very well and I don't believe theres a limit on people in each channel as major hosts like technic launcher and others run channels with thousands of people in them

Well so far four people have joined across all three channels...  So we should try and get as many as possible I guess. Once numbers are up I'll need some moderators, selected from those with experience from being admin or moderator.

I've been popping in and out of the EURO server today. I'd be willing to help moderate it

I can vouch for the capabilities of Discord. I help run a server with some of my friends (and their friends' friends, and friends of the friends' friends). Maximum we've had in the sever so far is about 10 or so people talking at once, so it does get crowded, but the servers handle the load just fine. They also have an in-game client they're still tinkering with (basically shows you who's on the voice channel and who's speaking), though it is buggy with some games, so I'd recommend against enabling it.

I do not think I'm gonna use it, sorry.
We already have a teamspeak server setup for SWBFGamers and another one for SWBFSpy (Where u can ask for support, or just join to play with friends)
