make sure tga files are saved with RLE compression *turned off*

another tactic is to Hexedit the file. Any new words cannot be longer than the existing ones
e.g. use a hex editor, search for "hello"
and replace with "hola "

I think what you might need is the Spanish "localization" for the files.
