LAN stands for Local Area Network. Basically, you can play with people on SWBF if they are connected to your internet.
So they have to live near me? :P

In other words you don't have to be connected to the internet just someone elses computer. :)
Oh so if my parents take away internet i can still play online?
Only if you have someone else with battlefront and a PC in your house. :)

LAN is mainly used for LAN parties, in which friends are invited round with Laptops/etc and everybody sets up in various rooms of the house, connect to the internet and play over the LAN.
I have no idea if people actually do them anymore, I haven't been to one for a long time.
whole parties? :o Wow if only more people i knew played swbf...
Heres the plan, we all meet, everyone on this site and we all play SWBF through LAN! I vote Led's house! :P

They were very popular in the 90s and early 2000s since many games didn't have a decent online infrastructure (if they had one at all) but they usually allowed MP through LAN.
oh i thought you mean Swbf Lan parties
LAN is awesome, low pings, people you know that you are playing the game with. And after the game is done you can all talk about your favourite moments if you are that way inclined.
